so.. looking at getting one or two Area 51 A-600 LED Grow Light

Per them:

They are powered by 300 Heliopto LEDs with a 6000k:630nm:660nm
7:4:4 spectrum totaling 550w at the plug.

Each unit is 25.5" x 25.5" and covers a 4x4 growing area
at the recommended 30" above the canopy.

The guys said people were pulling lb+ consistently off a single one of these, yey or nay?

1 lb easy. I own 3 of the newer SGS-160s. Just pulled 357 g. out from under 2 of them and the setup wasn't even optimal.

I think you missed my point. I was only pointing out that their lights work well.
The 600s would be a good deal with a lower cost per watt up front.
Efficiency is what you're after, as in yield per kilowatt hour burned.
The better/more efficient the light, the sooner it will pay for itself.

Don't get hung up on a totally non-useful ratio

These lights should last ~ 30 full grows, if not a lot more

See how cheap they really are?

It's not about money really, but yes a little. It's about stealth and heat, sound and smell ;)

however... if those things were $2/w i wouldn't hesitate ;)

How about $1.50 per watt? Come see my new thread

note: no edit possible, so i must post new post instead.

So having read hundreds of threads and viewed dozens upon dozens of vids on LED current running brands, it's looking like the 5w diodes are some serious winners. Solarstorm/solarflare seems to run near $2/watt. several grows look like the luma 330 is teh bombastic. and surprisingly (to me) blackstar's confidence stock has gone down, as valued by myself of course. growblu looks SMOOTH, but also looks to be 3w.

i mean look at these par readings:
solarstorm 800:

Thinking about my future empty 3x3 has me drooling. So much growing to do and so little time ;_; :blowbubbles:

Cool, did do so ;) also gave some background linkage, so others can view vids and such.

really makes a strong case for 4x200w instead of 1x800w tho..

So decided on a tent, but really need help on the fan.

going for the gorilla tent!!

Gorilla Grow Tent 2'x2.5'
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009TCEK56/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3VZKFNMHAPZBO

question is which of the s&p fans to go with a phresh filter (i'm buying in the solarstorm 400)

regular td-100:
http://www.amazon.com/Soler-Palau-T...72471532&sr=8-3&keywords=Soler+&+Palau+TD-100

td-100x:

td-100xs:

thinking of a phresh 4x8,12,20 carbon filter.

not decided if i'm going coco or grabbing a hydrofarm yet..

My tent is 2 x 4 x 5 high

Total ~ 130 led watts

Temps average 81*s with lights on.

I leave front flaps partially open and use a 10" recirc fan. This helps introduce passive CO2

I use a car windshield reflector to cover the top half of the open laps

If you want I can take a picture

Everything is ordered, and has started arriving. Tent was kinda cheap so there's a little patching to be done, but nothing too bad. ordered the a/c, so hopefully i'll have it all next week. The ebb/flow chamber is what looks to take the longest.

Shipped:
r/o unit
hydrofarm timer (pump)
growdan rockwool slab
pots
fan - <here>
duct silencer
tent - <here>
temp/humidity monitors - <here>
2 mechanical timers - <here>
carbon filter - <here>
TechnaFlora pH Up & pH Down
pH Perfect Grow (1-Liter)
EconoJet 2x2
ec pen - <here>
tds pen - <here>
ph calibration kit ( and 7) - <here>
1500 ppm Calibration 8 oz

looks like i might have missed the ph perfect bloom somehow, i'll wait till it all comes since i'm gonna veg a few weeks anyway.

<edit>
More parts coming:

ordered portable a/c
got stone diffusers
air pump check valves
40gal tetra whisper pump
airline (duh!)
a few clip fans

found out i got the wrong perfect grow so ordered replacements:
Advanced Nutrients Ph Perfect Sensi Bloom A+B
Advanced Nutrients Ph Perfect Sensi Grow A+B

I think other than hydroton and the light, it's just a waiting game...

Short list for future:
digital microscope
ir temp gun

longer term list:
eventually a controller unit to unify everything
This would be when I get things like CO2.

ping back if you think I missed something!

I don't bother to check water temps as the temp at the top of the bucket stays around 84-85 during lights on, and the netpot lid is pretty thick and the nutes are heavily oxyenated. That said, I have thought to drop in small frozen bottles. I could reflect with heavy duty aluminum foil.

No algae, even though the buckets have a lip that I have not bothered to cover

Thanks for arousing my curiosity.

Temp ok < 80 (should be 5*s cooler), BUT, even though I gave the fresh nutes Friday, they had slurped most of it up. I mean those buds can't pack it on without food and water

pH of what was left was very low ~ 5.0, so I made up a fresh batch 820 @ 5.5

You got some Rep coming
