Nice looking king mackerel that your friend pulled up. When you say handling, does that mean he doesn't use a rod or reel? Impressive.

The rice you grow in the highlands, is that long grain or short grain rice or something in between?
Good trade on the camera, hope it lasts until your GoPro comes in. I see a lot of bicyclists around here with them on their helmets...

Plants seem to be coming along nicely, are any of those the indica crosses you made with the indica males? How about the seedlings, any of those make it? The shit weather for the next 2-3 months, do you mean storms, as in wet season vs dry season?

Hey Buddy wuts up....
Yea that is a good looking king hes got there,,,Hand line,,is how he fishes,, 200 meters of 120 or 160 lb test mono on a wooden wheel,,,when hes got a fish on he'll pull it in hand over hand till the fish is in gaffing range, so ,,,,no ,,,no rod or reel..
The rice is the only thing right now enjoying the rains,,its a long grain highland rice with a very nutty aroma and flavor closest thing i know of is Basmati rice,, real close in size and flavor...
Yea man got me a new gently used camera,,so now I can get on the banana blunt wrap foto spread i been wanting to do for ya,,,,the GoPro,,,,I have it on good authority that the time to get a new Gopro will be after Sept 2013, and the guy that told me that has "associations" with the camera company, so im gonna do something ive never been very good at,,, listen to someone else.

plants are looking good arnt they?? Ive got 5 or 6 ready for chopping,,tricombs are where I like um,,,just turning amber rob is the weather,,if I start hanging bud im risking mold, the only way for me is to hang my buds in a small room inside thats sorta of a climate controlled room,,where I store "things" and "stuff" that needs to stay dry and not get moist,,it works,,drys um out in a few days and gets um jar ready,,its just so hard to cut down a lant youve been caring for , for the past 7-8 months.

No crosses yet,,,but the bud im croppin soon is loaded with seeds from the Indica males i had,, so the next grow ,,along with a better GRS seed grow will be forth coming in set when the weather changes,,, I own the Ganja Rebel an apology,,I got over zelious and in to much of a hurry to grow something different and ended up fuking it all up,,,still got some beans so I can do it up right
in set when the rains stop, cause we are now in rainy season..

The guy running the ship in the fotos is not real happy with me right now,, we use to use him to travel in the area,,,,
NOT ANY MORE...........:moon:

Wow, pulling in a 30lb mackerel by hand, he must have calluses thicker than a coin.
Yes, we need to see how these banana blunt wraps work. How do you get it to stick together?
Sometimes, when I'm chopping one of my babies, I like to say a little prayer to the plant gods thanking them for this sacrifice.

More million dollar views from your boat, thanks for the pics. Now you have your own sea-worthy boat, every year you seem to be getting more self-sufficient, like a true pioneer.

Most of the the time the guys wrap something around their hands but when a big fish is on theyll use the strong line and wrap it around something on the boat to keep tension and give um a break but it dont take as long as if I had it on the end of my line,,,i gotta play,,,give um some drag,,,tire the beast out a lil,, with the heavy 160 mono they more or less hook it and horse it in,, a fish that size on my med weight tackle takes about 30-45 mins sometimes more when they see the boat and freak and start peeling off more line, same fish on his tackle is on the boat,,brains beaten with a hardwood club,,wrapped in a few fresh green banana leaves in about 15 mins or less, some fast hand over hand action

yea man Im gonna get on it with a nice foto lay out of banana wraps,,but for now a few young coffee fotos will have to do,,need to learn new cam

Thata a passenger\ cargo\ smuggling\ if ya got the cash theyll find a place on board for it,,no matter what it is.
The Capt is one greedy basterd, but is for the most part on time and on the "safety" scale id give him a 4 out of 10, which aint bad around these parts,,most of the shis are really fuked
We use him a lot or at least use to,, he'll pick ya up or drop ya off just about anywhere in the rim as long as you got cash but the ride cold take 2 days 2 weeks or 2 months,, depends on where ya get picked u at and where ya wanna go,, which is only one of the suck butt things dealing with it,,it makes 1000s of stops, some as short as 20 mins,, for passengers the ship will come to a dead stop long enough for small local boats to pull along side drop off or pick up and their gone,,,other stops can take days off and on loading cargo, and most of the times its some shitty do nothing po duk village passing off as a town so your stuck to the mercy of what ever you can do on the ship ,,which aint much.

For what I paid for the MaryJane, we'll get it back in 8-9 months of not having to use him and 2 others like it.

Lovely coffee bean pics. How much longer do you think till it's time for coffee harvest?
Are you able to pull two crops a year from the coffee trees?

That's great that you no longer have to depend on others to get around the sea. The MJ is an investment, and will save you money in the long run. How many years do you think you'll get out of that wooden boat? 5-10? Any boats with fiberglass hulls out there?

It's amazing that this kid without rod or reel can pull in a fish 2-3x quicker than you can with all of your gear, although you do like to tire them out first before hauling them in. I guess when dinner's at stake you learn to do whatever it takes. I heard a story that the aborigines of Australia, a lot of them can throw a stone like a major league baseball player throws a baseball: with great velocity and pinpoint accuracy. When your skill at rock throwing can mean the difference between going to bed hungry or having a nice rabbit for dinner, you learn to get real good at hitting what you're aiming for.

Lucky Man!!

Lucky Man!!

Well cool never really thought anyone was interested in places like this anymore, most islands off Asian coast lines have been turned into resorts and condo time shares, some are not to bad about it but most are not regulated by anyone so sewage and garbage gets flushed into the sea, remember that next time ya wanna go to some off the beaten path resort getaway, Philippines is about the worst for it,Vietnam about the best. Alot of Islands this way are savagely mined for nickle and gold, blowing up entire mountains and letting the runoff go into the sea full of chemicals.
The W.H.O,,, W.H.F and UNESCO now protect whats left outside of other countries mainland E.E.Zs(200 miles).

The story goes before WWII (I'm figuring about mid 1930s)when Japan started claiming islands to be used as forward operating bases in southern Asia they came to this archipelago, my wifes grandfather says he was 15 or so when a Japanese war ship came into the back water, it stayed far off shore for several days, until one morning it moved closer and a small boat came ashore with 12 men who were quickly killed and their bodys taken to the mountains where their heads were removed and mounted on hardwood poles about a meter high. the next morning 12 more Japanese soldiers landed and met the same fate as the others, killed and taken to the mountains, no more men came for several days until 3 small boats landed with 30 men and the captain of the ship early in the dark hours of the morning, each killed by a warrior and taken to the mountains,,,to the caves of the dead.

The next morning the ship was gone and the Japanese never returned, history was written and word spread, to this day Japanese ships do not stop here, trade ships cruise ships freighters smugglers private yachts of all sizes and nationalities have been making the back waters a stop for fresh water and fruit for as long as anyone can remember, but not the Japanese, and this is the last deep water stop ships can make for water and fruit before entering the Southern Pacific.

Now all this is told by my wifes grandfather an old guy who looks about 100 or but his body is still a little brown steel band, and when I hear him telling stories from the past and they start to sound a little far fetched,,,, I remember the Japanese Officers sword that hangs on the wall in his hut.

Cave of the dead,,, creepy place and i'm not allowed up there, so you know that means i had to have a peek.
But im gonna save the creepy part for last.
Masamaaso that is so fuckin awesome. I still cant get over that you live on a Island in the pacific....again I'm jealous. Cave of the dead How can you resist? I know I'd be all over it...stoned and all.

Duuuude,,,sup ??

Yea man the coffee cherries are looking good this year, but will take another 5-6 months to ripen,,and only one crop a year,,,I have about 2-3 kilos from last year to last me till then,,which it won't,, probably last me another 2 months if im lucky,,rainy season I tend to slurp down more coffee,,guess its cause im stuck in the hut so much...

The MJ is a sweety,, not the fastest craft on the water ,,,but not the slowest by any means,, as far as how long a wooden boat will last ya,,whats an 80 year old woman taste like ????? Depends...
If ya take care and repaint once a year or more and you havent run it up on any rocks that could have cracked the keel, then it could be many years with only minor repairs, here and there..

Fiberglass, You'd think right,,,,,,, Ive been told by several people in 3 different countries at totally separate times the same answer as to why theres no or maybe i should say "very very few" fiberglass boats used in the region,,,answer,,,,,getting it repaired is a problem,,crack it on a rock(lots of those just under the water line) and yer fuked,, getting it repaired on some off the map island aint gonna happen bust a hole in a wooden boat and repairs can be made "anywhere" with hand tools.
Sounded good to me,,,all 3 times........

Yea man Gramps is telling facts,,,and its that way with all things that bleed,,and i bet if ya asked some of the old timers here they'd say the same about you and me....
I do it,,with just about any fish im gonna keep, Big fish I'll cut and gut then drag in the water for a few minutes,,,not long,,sharks and cudas smell it quick and will destroy and sweet catch if yer not carefull and paying attention not standing on the bow with a dobbie claiming to be king fisherman(dumb ass) it was a 20 or so kilo yellow fin that I was left with a head and a lil tail meat,
The tribe do not,,everything that comes off or out of that fish gets used and if its going to the big island to market its sold whole by the kilo.

Nice, coffee cherries. Yes, they look very fruit like on the branch.
Damn, how can you run out of coffee when you have a coffee field?
I know you split up the haul and everyone gets some, all hippie commune-like, but are you not able to stash like a 50lb sack for yourself? At 2-3 lbs a month, that should last you a year.
But I expect with your new boat, getting coffee will not be a problem now. :)

Yeah, I know nothing of boats, but most people in industrialized countries have fiberglass boats, as wooden hulls are too labor intensive with the maintenance. But then, in your corner of the ocean, the possibility of repair factor is more important.
Do your boats get banged up a lot on all the hidden rocks out there?

The old-timers, do you think they've ever eaten 'long pig'?

Wuts up dawg,,,its been mentioned and mainly snickered about but im willing to bet theres a few of the oldsters that may have had a few nibbles of the "gray meat".

At my pace running out of coffee is easy,,its 8am or so and im on pot #2 with at least 2 more some where along the day,,toss in all day bong hits the fact that its been raining for the past week or soo,,,thats everyday all day long rain,,,,rainy season it gets cool my wife calls it "cold" and at night it is cold,,,so a big steamy pot a Java a tray of bonghits and yer in there..
Boats tied up and not going any where any time soon,,the fishing gear I ordered will be leaving the US on Friday so about Mid Sept It'll get either here or close by where we can go pick it up on the "MaryJane"..

Haha, you made me think of my Grandfather saying "if god wanted fiberglass boats, he would have made fiberglass trees"

Another good Grandfather Quote,,, mine used to tell us things like why pussy was shaped like tacos and the endless joys of fat chicks.
Structural steel engineer, Architect, Gentleman Farmer....:ying:

How is the weed there?

Not bad this go around,,,got 8 jars of nice mature buds put up and 5 jars of almost ready "im taking it before the mold does"..
I'll toss up some bud porn in a bit..
New cam sucks....

Awrighty,,so what the hells a jungle joe ????
Its the name ive given to my banana leaf blunt wraps, and now an exclusive,,,,, A how to roll a Jungle Joe post.

First ya need to find the right tree,,,think all bananas are the same ,??? eat one ya aet um all ????
Not true,,,,there are many types of bananas most are tasty,,some taste like hell.
So same goes for the leaves,,,some are thicker than others, so a thin leafed plant is needed,,,best Ive come across is the red banana, heres a small one, the leaf on the ground is perfect.

Trim to size,,,heres the thing you can roll from mild to wild with this stuff, its a matter of personal choice so,,,cut to desired size and dip it in something to moisten,,, i like hot coffee or hot cocao.
Let it sit while ya prep yer weed and dry it off afterward just before yer ready to roll, as well get two loops ready,,,the loops are peeled off of the leaf stem.

Now I go old skool and roll from the bottom up but the leaf makes great cones if ya like filling cones.
Do a lil roll roll action before firstt wrap ,,,when ya get a good tight wrap cut off any remaining and put on the loops ,,tie each firm, but gently, pack one end,,,trim the other ,,,,fire it up.:ying:
