 ?? Yea, you sure told them.

lol, what are you getting at here? Bitcoin is still doing great and has been standing up very well despite it's recent correction.

Furthermore, now that a lot of speculators are out it's been trading rather stable. Negative news releases related to gov. scrutiny in the conversion of USD to Bitcoin hasn't really effected much either..a little volatility as exchanges, etc face trouble..but still strong support.

I'm not sure what charts you are looking at but BTC has made massive gains over the last year. You do realize that bitcoin was valued at around $14 just at the start of the year?

It is now ~$108.00.

Those that bought bitcoin at the start of this year have made a 700% gain... even with the recent correction.

Those that sold were made millionaires overnight.. those that held are up 700%. Are you bitter or do you simply not like profit?

lmao.. couldn't be more FAIL in your post. There is a bit more going on then speculation in Bitcoin. While it may have been responsible for the parabolic run-up to ~250, there is A LOT of support in the digital currency and I predict we'll see it grow in the years to come.

I'm not sure why you're trying to hate. Do you have any others suggestions to make 700% in 6 months? I'd love to know. And regardless of speculative gains.. bitcoin could be revolutionary and free us from the crimes against humanity brought upon us by fiat currencies and the money makers behind them. Why hate?

not what i am talking about buddy...i am talking about the people that were "speculating" and they bought in at $180...the day after it had dropped from $260...so exactly how much did you make if you bought at $180????

my apologies.. I must have missed those posts. Didn't see anyone here that bought at such elevated prices after the crash except those that waited for it to fall lower and then sell again on the bounce.

Still don't see the point in trying to ridicule and laugh at the misfortune of those who joined in at overbought prices.

Besides..speculators have lost nothing unless they sold at a loss. (albeit maybe a loss of purchasing power in the short term). In 2011 those that bought at overbought prices (around $32) watched their bitcoins fall to $7. They later recovered and climbed to $260.

Did you laugh at those who bought at $32? Strong hands went on to see huge gains despite seeing a huge correction.

I don't know the future of bitcoin, but we very well may be looking back at $100 talking about how we should of bought some. Some are laughing.. some are buying.. some still crying. The point is.. nobody knows.

I know those who laughed at people buying gold at $300, $600, $800, $1000, etc....calling people crazy for buying that those prices.... well.. they get laughed at now.

Hindsight is 20/20. Buying bitcoins at 2011 high turned out to be genius only a few short years later. Who's to say that it is not going to happen again. I was skeptical of bitcoins at 1st, but after research I do realize that they could be revolutionary in how people perceive currency.... and outside of gov. policy.. I'm all for that.

I'm not throwing my net-worth into bitcoin, but I'm not going to ridicule them either. I have no crystal ball. No doubt in my mind however that alternative currencies such as bitcoin will continue to gain ground.

Is there 'another' anonymous, encrypted, digital currency available?

Until there's one that competes with bitcoin, the only possible scam is if the bitcoin operators cash out the cash some day. IS that even possible for them to do?

@ Vernewb, yes there is. It's called LiteCoin, and last time I checked, it was trading at around 3$ and change. This is the one to get into on the ground floor. Purchase 3000 or so, a 10K investment, and forget about them until 2017. Even if they only hit 50$ by then, your initial 10,000$ investment would be worth 170,000$. That is being very modest as well, seeing that BTC went from pennies to leveling out at 109$ in the same 4-5 years.

SR is pretty sweet too!

I know people who invested in mining rigs who are kicking themselves....They are giving miners another couple months...ie the 3-4 vid card pc option.

Then the scam is buying asics boxes for $4k a shot...Get in on the ground floor and your golden....get in once it becomes mainstream and you are on shakey ground

And should someone with enough raw comp power decide to mess with the system....lets say they managed to fork it (It would take alot to do this),or DOS attacks, etc. etc....Worse than a hurricane messing with the price of gas....

And if your really really smart and good at social engineering, you could pull and even bigger scam...

I have a buddy who got in on the ground floor and has been doing it for a long time...he even admits it is a bubble...just a very very profitable one if you can ride the waves, or cause instability at one of the exchanges perhaps...

Think about this...there are techie nerds who have almost unlimited funds now to play....if they rode the wave from close to the begining...

I'm not that kinda smart, but they are out there...just looking for the angle...I know my buddy is..whether it be suckering in a whole bunch of newbs giving them promises of $$$..only to wait until just the right vulnerability comes around....

Since it isn't a real currency with Gov't backing...who will care...is it even theft? Who will investigate..

It's becoming a nightmare trying to get coins in the UK. There was a guy fairly local to me who also sells Gold/Silver, but he's put his commission up to 10% because he has almost reached the VAT threshold. VAT would be 20% on top of his usual fee. I don't have to pay VAT when I change pounds to Euros or Vice-Versa, it's pure Fuckery.
I'm considering buying them with cash in the mail.... Yes, very shady I know, but the cash in mail seller is selling coins in order to cash out(seems like a big risk to his operation if you ask me).
Bloody nightmare. You can see how much of a threat to the Banksters it must be, if they are clamping down on it so hard.
We don't have anywhere at all to pay OTC and get them anonymously.

You set up an account using fake name and email at one of the bitcoin traders websites. Then you do a cash deposit into that traders website at the bank, all you do is sign the transfer slip with what ever you want. Then go online to that traders site in about 24-48 hour your money is there, then use it to buy bitcoin. Then use the coin at places like Silk. lol

You missunderstood. What if I was selling stuff on Silk for example. How would I get the BC to cash in my hand without a trail? That's the part that gets me confused.

Get the BC there, use your transfer number of your wallet number from the BC traders account send it there. Then Cash out at the bank. High fees though to do this. The BC is routed like 17 times to wipe out the place where it came from.

Yeah of course, but if you do this many times or with large quantities of money, someone will pick up on it. I don't want IRS or anyone else nosing around in my business for example.

Set up a foreign bank account and have it deposited there. Then u just gotta get the cash into the states. Or don't withdrawal the value, until they have increased in value enough to cover the taxes Uncle Sam incurs on the withdrawal.

Well you wanted to buy pass the whole bank thing you could always just sell the BC's on the street to people in the area for cash. You can do that through lots of traders as well.

Or use bitcoins to buy real money and have it delivered to you (aka. gold or silver in the physical form. coins, bullion, etc). You can then either hold real money as savings, or convert into whatever currency you'd like at a local coin store.

Actually spending the bitcoins on consumer goods is the best way to "cash out" of them.
