hey bootz, guys and girls. got a few plants on my old scrog screen for a round. they are about 10 days in. i was away for the first week of flower so couldnt train as well as i'd have liked but they look ok, they were vegged up pretty big. couple of changes to the rols soil mix which i'll talk about later.

the last quarter is reserved for some of my bubba outcross - fat bubba (which is bubba x sour bubble) pics of those next time.

feels good to have the cab nearly full of scrogs. its been a while.

hey g0v thanks, yeah i wish i had the regulation 4 screens in there but it will be interesting to see the fat bubba flowering for the first time. they should make an appearance next week.

Unthing, thats a good question. ive only run the PK once so far and it is very good. looks so much like the bubba but , whist both are capable of a fairly big internodal distance during the stretch, the PK can throw them a bit bigger than the bubba.
smell/smoke wise, the PK is more cheesy with a hint of berry and very tasty. the bubba is more focused on that pretty unique bubba incense style funk.
i guess i prefer the bubba because the terpenes are more unusual and focused whereas the PK is more of a mixture.
i'm planning to make a fem cross of the two which might be very interesting, maybe even add a bit of vigor which is a little lacking in both - but manageable when you know them.

short answer - i think i prefer the bubba but its early days and close enough not to be sure. :)

bubba x pk, or pk x bubba sounds like there'll be some winners there.

i have heard some long time growers say that bubba is quite a lot better than PK. wouldnt make much sense to cross it then unless you were trying to check which traits from bubba would stabilize in the F1 compared to other outcrosses.

thanks shiva!

hey unthing and bootz. in the UK it was the PK that seemed to stick around just as much as the bubba. breeding wise, boots i see your point but i think its worth a go to make some seeds and test them out. the bubba cut i think must come from a stable line, and its quite possible that the PK is too, makeing a cross have the possibility of being (or close to being) a 'true' F1 hybrid. a bit of hybrid vigor would be nice.
one of the bubba S1s i grew had what i call the 'cheese' terpene which i also get in the PK.
on the other hand any cross is a punt really :D

and... im going to post the occasional pic of my own regular garden or some of the gardens i've designed or look after.
this pic shows a very good contrast in leaf form, geranium pratense and alchemilla mollis, with an aqualegia flower and a bit of horsetail weed in the foreground

thanks john. yeah its coming on nicely. i was hoping to dust one of the bubbas with pollen from a fat bubba male (if i found a good one) but i think the timing is going to be wrong.

that said, lots of bubba sensi is no hardship and i can store the pollen for another time.

ive been watering once a week since early flower with diastatic malt - 1 tablespoon per gallon. hard to tell what difference it is making but the plants certainly look happy.

also i felt i had over-limed my recycled soil by adding new 'P' guano every round, i measured the soil pH and it was well over 8.... so thi round i mixed some new with gypsum and no other liming agents and cut it 50% with my old soil. the plants seem to like it.

thanks g0v! they are coming on ok, stretched a bit due to the overcrowding but im just about able to sex them soon.

here are a couple of shots from today

the Purple kush 4 weeks in. these plants are a bit too tall to get good pics in my loft space, thats said, the extra height will make for a good yield!
couple of mites crept in but im on top of them, now ive decided not to leave it up to the predator mites and spray neem instead - i have no problem doing it in flower as long as its a mild solution and lights are off.
i dusted the PK with some reversed bubba pollen but it remains to be seen if it is still viable (from the freezer)

- again at 4 weeks. one has been left sensi
picture.php

and the other one has been dusted with some fatboy (sour bubble) pollen - thanks again to leptosoma! because i only got 100 or so seeds first time and i would like to be able to do a small release of the F1s - lets hope for some more seeds this time
picture.php

and from the regular garden.... here is some gladiolus byzantinus and astrantia major
