By minerals im talking about rock dusts etc., not calcium nitrate. Even if cano3 is the most bioavailable form of ca, because it is attached to no3, it is not as useful to the plant and actually over time will lower brix.

Sugar is the byproduct of photosynthesis, these are the same sugars getting pumped down in to the roots and released in to the soil to feed the microbiology ...more brix happier soil happier soil happy plant...

Just made some knowledge love with google last night...

Interesting info... only thing that stumps me is all the things that I see to "raise brix" levels, seems like I'm already utilizing, Unless its just time they need to get to that "right place" they have barely been transplanted a week now, mebbe they just need to rev up?

The only thing not being utilized yet is foliar feeding, since were outside Im waaay less hesitant to foliar since humidity is a different kinda issue then indoors. I gave them a rinse down last week with magic Green from H&G, and am planning on foliar feeding every few days give or take. And I haven't drenched them with any CalMag yet, didnt think they would be in the growth phase that will be heavily needing that yet. Foliar it is!

This outside/dirt based situation is a totally different concept then what I'm used to, with the hydro if they need something I just amend the res with a product, with outside I'm assuming I can address necessary deficiencies with a foliar rinse so as to not swamp the dirt/roots with increased watering and still maintain some wet/dry cycling?

Anyone familiar with the product "BANG!" I've seen it on the shelf at stores for years, but never cared/needed it from what I thought.... just thinking about it in my brain, seems like something that might be possibly affecting brix levels with its means of "plant damage control"? i dunno

Thanks for the kudos everyone! Feedback and info keeps me motivated and always learning!

Foliar spraying with low amounts of Calcium Nitrate is the best way to apply and also a good way to restart growth quickly. FWIW..A lot of times things may seem a certain way , but most stuff out of a bottle doesn't really do shit for the plants, the best way I found to keep them going is to use a mineralized soil within Dr Albrecht's recommended ratios..

After that it's just a matter of keeping the biology charged..the mineralized soil helps with this..Rock dusts / paramagnetic rock & seed meals make biology go ape shit. I know Ape Shit isn't a scientific quantification, but I'm stoned.

I've said it before and I will say it one more time, Grow them from down low..

They have been inoculated with multiple biological methods I suppose, two different batches of teas from different feedstock, a homebrew application and a boosted batch from BLC, Plant Success soluble w/humic&seaweed, and whatever comes in the bag from Royal Gold.

They get fed with a gagglefuk of kelp and Hume and many other goodies with any water.

The soil foodweb should be kickin by my accounts.... what else can I do to increase rootzone bio-activity?

Realistically your colonization rate is probably fairly low. Freeze dried spores are ok, but its best to germinate them and apply the live organisms. This way you can keep it going not have to keep buying and also increase colonization of the roots. Its all about the base cation saturation ratio and anion saturation, once these are in place the rest works itself out.

It is very difficult to come in to range with coir due to its inherent properties. I've never grown with coir since I've read too much research against its use I wouldnt know where to steer ya.

YosemiteSam did some experiments with coir fiber and peroxidated calcium I believe a product called ixper70 and had good results but ultimately switched to compost, castings, peatmoss and lava rock (same base blend I am using) you may want to read his posts or shoot him a PM

The 6 month trip outdoor is a bit different for the pump and dump 2 month indoor trips isnt it? A lot more time for a lot more issues to pop up.

Is that the arcata train wreck?
Lookin mighty fine bro

Just regular 'ole Trainwreck we call it here, or E-32, "arcata" trainwreck, etc. Whatever you feel like calling it! ;)

Gifted to me by the old man himself....Been clinging to it ever since!

Everything has been hatched, grown, and maturated in the "tea" tank, I don't even use the Plant Success without "activating" it first with a few days of bubbling... Been shocked with the mycelial growth on the top/foam layer of the tank...

you seem to refer to the 6 months trip as a detriment? I feel as if there is that much more room for error and corrections without drastic impact! I'll get back to you in November!

zoinx! I forgot to mention, I posted that first one early today before I went out and looked at the garden. I said out loud to myself, "these are the happiest plants I've ever seen!"

In addition to being excited about that, we spaced/spread them all out, and I foliar fed the bejeezus out of them, it was a very heart solution of things that I sprayed them down with...

I wish I took pictures of them before I wetted them down and made them all heavy/droopy they were reaching out with their leaves and tracking the sun!

I'll get some pix tomorrow with them soaking up the sun.....hopefully the foliar was well received!

Did you use a microscope to verify what you were "seeing" ? I haven't heard of any one being able to germiate and establish hyphae network in a tea. I have heard of established hyphae increasing in mass.

The spores germinate upon contact with roots or another appropriate substrate [ wood chips , non dyed cardboard , agar ]

What I was referring to regarding the 6 month trip versus the 2 month trip is that in 2 months you're pumping and dumping with no time for anything to really go wrong. So easy to have the climate perfect ya know? I have actually found the opposite. Things happen a lot faster and a lot more serious out side. The Sun is a big light and when the shit hits the fan on a outdoor monster, it's drastic and quick.

I found out when I put a lot of stuff in the water to foliar them with it helps to test the ORP of the water and bring it back to about 125 using H2O2 if necessary...Helps makes things available.

If you get a refractometer and check your brix level before and few hours after spraying you'll be able to see if what you're doing is effective or not.

Goddamn Taco leaf! Mg deficiency, or just super dooper respiration?

Put the film up today... Kinda maddening trying to put a square piece of material on a not so square structure.

Took the whole afternoon, but mainly because of too much attention to detail... kept reminding myself this thing isn't a swiss watch, just fucking put it on!

Didn't accomplish much yesterday, watered and foliar fed the girls and made a sojourn out into the hills for an errand.

Hopefully today we will get the sidewalls up and/or start on the other greenhouse?

gooey: don't stop now..... there's archived threads down there, not just this current one!

Budman, how did you like those Subcool genetics? I chatted and got some free demo seeds from him at the "Emerald Cup" travesty. But none of them really set me on fire, so the packs of seeds are still sitting around here somewhere...

I have too many things going on to sort through some F1's of hybrids of hybrids, ja know?

Thanks for joining the party folx!

i love the fruity-ness of his strains. i love the space queen in the querkle and these dtrains i grew out were a crossed with sub's QT...its delicious....if you are into extracts, i have found his strains to be particularly resinous and excellent for water hash or bho.

i am a fan!

but, i also love the sour...a lot of old school rezdog sour diesels...is SD ibl and sd ibl x san fernando og kush...without a doubt some of my favorite weed....

what TGA beans do you have? if it AOS, Cheesequake, or a few others i would go ahead and pop em....never know what your gonna find but you should def find something worth keeping around in a 10pack.

On the TGA tip , Biggest plant I've tended was a Jacks Cleaner , tending a SFV x JC2 and its looking promising.

A buddy has a Plushberry that is great if you like fruity herb..But that's not my ticket.

Hope you enjoy your new toy and get plenty of use out of it. Silly blade covers!

Just a quick test fit on the first spot of rebar, to visualize the span width and ascertain the overall structure/headroom.

Baseboards almost finished, I've never built one of these mind you, I've scoped many out, and checked a bunch of plans I've seen on the web, and this is what I cooked up in my brain, pulling from all the different versions I've come across, we'll see how I like it by the end of the season.

Blah, blah, blah.... It got dark before we could finish it, we got a SUPER late start, and even had a few errands/interruptions, no reason this couldn't have been built in a day. We're right in the thick of it, 2 more hours MAX tomorrow, and we'll be DONE!
