Hey Red, can you still find old school Colombian Gold/Santa Marta? I would really like to have some of that.
Forgive me if this was posted already. I haven't had time to read the whole thread, but I have enjoyed the pictures very much. I noticed someone saying they were not sure what the commercial marijuana market was like in Colombia. I too thought it didn't really exist much anymore. And it may not. But I saw this video I thought was pretty interesting. It was saying a lot of it is ending up in the UK.
Most paraguayan weed is terrible and I don't think could be sold much on an international level. The colombian, jamaican, and mexican still can though.

Hi VirginHarvester, yes the famous SMG is still cultivated (but on a much smaller scale) and can be found here relatively easy. However it is not popular with the consumers here who prefer the super hybrids (cripy). I'd love to send you a key or two ($25US lb.) but I don't think it would get to you. But it is indeed here.

I never have a problem getting anything drug wise here, just one phone call and its delivered. I can get an assortment of flowers and surprisingly hashish (I have yet to try the hash but it's on the list). I can't really tell you what gets exported but I don't think its very much. Coke is the big export here of course and there's also a lot of local consumption.But all the young people I've met here smoke but they really only like the hybrid cripy and turn their noses up at the traditional Sativa. I like the cripy too, its a nice break from the lower potency Sativa, its kind of like jumping from the 70s into the future.

I wish I had more information but it turns out this new cripy is just your standard bulk outdoor grown from the Cauca valley. It’s considerably more potent and stronger tasting (aromatic) than the Sativa; the effect is a nice balanced hybrid, Sativa/Indica. It’s somewhat racy to me in the first 20 minutes but then levels out into a bone relaxing stone. After a few days of intense testing the effect becomes a little boring and predictable, however it has a very clean exit almost refreshing. I like it and plan to get another sample this week. The bad news is I can't find my good camera to post some pics, but it looks just like the stuff I had last year. I’ll keep looking for the camera till then.

This beautiful hybrid bud is the result of a cross I made with a SMG female and a fat sticky Afghan male (Nirvana 05). I grew out three identical females and all were the same in yield and potency. It was a nice cross and worthy of growing again. For me the effect was somewhat disappointing as it was sleepy and confusing. Very nice plants though.
She was crunchy sticky after a short cure.
More to come.

Seeds come from Taganga (A place near Santamarta 2009) is a new line, these lines have some skunk influences is the result to crosses trought last 10 years with commercial strains . But still conserve old genes.
Old Colombian Line

Well as I was saying before this new sample of cripy is very common here and I would consider it to be like really good mids in the states. It seems now I can get 4 basic types here. First and sometimes rare is the domestic sativa from all around the country. Its sweat cured and varies in quality from trash to mid in potency and taste. The next is also domestic but of the highest quality, the real Punto Rojo, Black and of course the oro (gold). This is the top self Colombian of the past and is very rare, this is what I'm after! Then there's the most common here and that's what I have now, the cripy. It's trimmed and seedless, real pretty, aromatic and potent. Then there's the last category the primo cripy, blueberry, white widow and skunk, name brands. This would be dank, fire or whatever your name is for the best. This cost 50 times more then the regs and well worth it. Buying is great here because there's always something good to get but the real deal is when I can grow it out myself. (soon)

I would like to add that I've taken quite a shine to putting a nice drop or two of Sativa QWISO on a freshly crushed "cripy" bud and bong hitting it. The effect is awesome as expected. It really clears my head and is a late nite treat for sure. I seem to build up a tolerance very quickly to the cripy but the Sativa always works. The mix works well.

Here are a few more shots of high altitude Colombian.
Santa Marta Gold clones. This plant had much fatter leaves then the other Sativa I grew here, maybe indicating hybridization at some point but it took forever to finish.
Colombian coastal green, this plant really should have been called purple instead of green. The bud the seed came from was great but the bud I grew from it was exceptional.
