IMHO I didn't "like it" at first, focusing on the tricomes was a little difficlult in the beginning and I never seen tricomes before, now I like it.. its fun

I'm aching to chop! Still waiting for the trichs to go cloudy... Especially since I'm looking for a relaxing, couchlocking high. From what I can tell by using my limited magniyfing glass/loupe they are still clear. The leafs are turning yellow all over and start to crumble upwards. They look like they are starting to call it.
I'll give it another week, not more! I want to chop!

where did the seeds come from lazyeye? 8-10 weeks is normal for blue cheese from big budda
cut early at your own peril ! ! ! .the longer they go the more couch lock you will get.they do look fantastic,been a great journey to watch.have you any plans for another go or reveg ? goodluck willyweed

are u happy with your setup so far. i am starting with with the dr120 twin and the bigger sputnik with 400w. i am curious about the temps. dont harvest to early.
how do u plan to dry and cure. i have hade good exp with the drynet and zippers. after 3 weeks u cant imagine how much the smell changes.

Duuuuudes chill! Been busy for a few days. The pictures are as usual from the update-day (sunday). The trichs have clouded up, the plants got their last watering today. They will get light today and tomorrow, then we're going for 36-48h of darkness. Friday/saturday is chopday, wich will be day 69-70. So Barneys Farm were a bit optimistic, expected I guess.
You can really smell the cheese in it now. It's been an awesome ride, but glad it's almost over. The smell is insane. Hoping that the words about Chronic is true, really need a less odour strain.
hibachi212: I'm very happy with the setup, it all does what it is supposed to do. Temps are fine. I think 400W in a dr120 is a bit undersized, I'd go with a 600w. I'll dry in the flower chamber then cure in glass jars.

Looking good man big day is coming soon bout to chop my blue cheese down this weekend smells like cheese but bud structure is way different than yours (bagseed heh). Enjoy the end product man nothing beats the feeling of smoking something YOU grew. pure magic everytime

Finally they have been chopped down. They are now hanging to dry in the tent. Chose to not do wet trimming since I can't control the environment enough. I want that slow dry.
Now I am very inexperienced but the plants felt pretty heavy. I'm guessing a final weight around 350-400grams.
It's amazing how much they changed over the 48 hours of darkness. The buds went much darker, some trichs seem to have gone amber. I think I nailed the chopday pretty good to be honest.
I'll summarize the grow a bit later, and after some curing I'll do a smoke report that I will post in this thread. Stay tuned for final weight and other goodies.

Summarizing the grow
Even though it didn't go well at all in the beginning I think the end result came out outstanding. I'm very proud of myself being able to get the results I did. Of course, that would not be possible without the help from alot of people here, lots of thanks! You know who you are!
Since this is my first ever grow, I figured I'd put down some things for other rookie growers. Some things to think about etc.
- Having a budget is important. What is even more important is to know that you will most likely break it. There's always something new you need, everything isn't expensive, but it all adds up. Things don't always work out the way you plan, and when they don't you need to step back and work out a solution. Wich for me most of the time involves buying something new/extra.
- Get everything you need right from the beginning. Don't do it the way I did buying bits and pieces here and there. It hinders your progress and for me it resulted in taking ALOT of extra time. Now as I said, you will need to get new stuff along the way. But buy as much as you can before you start. That way you don't have to feel stress about fucking up due to lack of "inventory".
- Don't make stuff more complicated than it is. Keep it simple! You don't need all the expensive high end stuff, not at first anyway. Make a plan, stick with it.
- Learn from your mistakes! Be observant about what you're doing and the response you get from the plants. Don't be afraid to fuck up, because you will. And when you do, just fix it. Doing a journal like this is great to keep track of your grow and see where you went wrong. It has helped me alot!
- DON'T PANIC! Things are fixable!
- Get your basics sorted before you start! Like PH value of your water. Don't guess, know what your PH is. If I had taken the PH more seriously I'd have finished this grow at least a month earlier than I do now. A meter is a must have, there are cheap ones on eBay, get one or two.
- Do not underestimate airflow! Get yourself an oscillating fan! Alot of the problems I've been having I blame on not having a fan. Sure the buds are big and heavy, but the branches were also pretty thin, except for the main stems. You absolutley want to have an oscillating fan from early on so that the branches gets stronger. A good thing about growing in a tent/cabinet is that the branches can lean up against the walls, I don't advice planning it that way, but hey if it happens it's good to know.
- Don't overestimate the carbon filter! I didn't take smell in to calculation when deciding on growing Blue Cheese. I definitley should have read up more on it. During the last 2 weeks I havn't had any visitors here thanks to the smell. And that is with ONA gel. ONA gel is a great little item that masks odour very well, but not even that managed to kill the odour. Think about this if stealth is important for you.
- You get what you pay for! I shelled out a pretty nice penny for my setup. As you can see from my results it payed off. Don't buy cheapo low quality stuff, get the real deal right from the get go. It will reward you.
- Last but not least, be humble and patient. Be humble when you come to places like this asking for help. It's very easy to be stressed and wanting to sort out your problems the same minute you encounter them. People here are extremely helpful, you will most likely get an answer to your question if posting it with some humility, and being patient for a reply. Don't act like you know everything already, you don't. I don't care how much you read before you pop your seeds, experience beats booksmarts every day.
Short info about Blue Cheese:
Capable of high yields!
Responds very well to topping.
Be prepared to defoliate heavily.
Smell is off the chart!
My plants produced very very dense buds.
Will need staking! ( can't recommend Plant Velcro enough for this, I absolutley love it!)
