What mix coco do you use again? I see the ready-gro bags in one pic, but do you actually use that for flower?

Hey Dutch do you think once you're in the half a mega watt league you will do the sensible thing and switch back to H&G or Canna?

Hey Dutch,

Do you use any type of backup power at your offices? Im curious how guys like you prepare for power outages and/or handle them when they come.

Thanks!

hey en do

I dont have any back up power supplies at the moment.

Last year in so cal we had a 2 day power outage so we went to the local tool hire place a few warehouse down and got their biggest gen and switched on just a few lights in each room just to keep the cycle.

Pretty funny shit all the people at the tool hire places were all growers

Im already over that with my new facilities.

Why would I switch to H & G or Canna. I would spend more money and lose quality. Where is the sense in that?

I will use Aptus till something better comes on the market

1.25 per gallon H & G
1.78 per gallon Canna
1.09 per gallon Aptus

You do the math

I am a bit confused on this comparison. Aptus does not make base nutrients right? Are these numbers just comparing their additive lines?

Aptus does make a pellet form base, but the feeding schedule for us relies on using any base and then adding Aptus only additives.

The pricing comparison relies on an average base nute cost. It is comparing the additive lines only with the same base cost.

Your correct they dont have a base but if you read their cost sheet its states "we do not have a base so we took the average price of 5 brands base nutrients and added that to the cost per gallon"

So even with a base its still cheaper

Does that make sense?

trust me I buy enough of it to know how much it costs and anyone who says its expensive is uneducated on the concentration level or is using fox farm nutes

Dutch thanks for the reply!

Funny story about the tool rental place.. I can imagine they were slammed. Haha.

I'm in the works to build a backup power flip based on 20-50 car/boat batteries in series that will automatically come online if the main power goes out and power fluorescent bulbs in all my rooms. The flower rooms will be synced to a timer that matches their schedule so if something happens mid 'day' for the plants they won't have any darkness to worry about. All the veg and clone rooms will be 24hrs until the main comes back on. I'm still calculating how many batteries I will need, but in concept it's all there.

I'm amazed more professional growers with big rooms aren't considering this as an option. No need to waste time/$/gas on powering 1000w lights with a generator, after all the most important thing is to not interrupt the light cycle. This can easily be done with 1-2 fluorescent bulbs per every 2+/- lights worth canopy. The best part s the whole system is very simple and automated so that if there's an outage you don't need to go running like a monkey to your spot and draw any attention. I think it's really a win win idea and can't wait to put it into play.

If anyone is interested, I will post a tutorial (minus the electrical engineering) when I get it built in about a month. I'll show the power flip device and full setup but since I'm not building it myself, I'm not sure how much I'll be able to explain for a full DIY. Maybe if you show it to your sparky he can build a similar one.

Thanks again Dutch, you are one of my main inspirations right now!

I do not care much for cost exponential differences between premium brands correlate with yield anyway, the cost difference is probably less than 1k to make a 100k profit so who cares? Question: do Aptus make a root simulator better than roots excel?

Do you use Aptus because it's cheap ROI, or because it grows the tastiest smelliest weed, or because you think it's the best medium in between all factors?

How long have you been using Aptus?
WHY did you switch? I can grow weed to its full potency potential using H&G or Canna, (as Im sure you can/have), and its hardly EXPENSIVE for US

I do appreciate what you do bro, and if something better exists I will switch, but I have a REAL funny feeling about this one

I do not care about cost (at least when it comes to the MINOR difference between feed) is there another reason you use APTUS other than it's cheaper than Canna and H&G thank's

I'm interested in the answers to the questions above as well and I would also like to add:

Have you evaluated their products individually or have you always run the entire line?

Dutch thanks for the pics.Stellar operation you have going, very clean, organized, laid out. I am starting my run on aptus, what MOST are not doing is looking at the feedchart. Damn.6 mil of the fasilator per gallon 250 mill bottle treats 400 gallons AND I am seeing a happier plant so far, thanks for the aptus mention, really curious to see how this is going to finish its way ahead already in week 2.

Epic thread DT. Just finished reading 37 ish pages and an utube vid in one sitting. Lol. Awsome set up and clean sanitize grow bro, K+. Was kinda hoping to see light mover tracks in the barn but I'm still impressed regardless.
Subscribed to see the rest of the show and best of vibes on your endeavors. Stay safe brother.

They dont have a liquid base but on their cost sheet they have added a average price of all the bases and added that to their price per gallon. They have a pellet that can be used as a base which I used myself for a long time but since seeing Jacks thread switched over to liquids

I would like to see this bud you should start a thread.

Cheers:tiphat:

Startboost is better than root XL. Check all the forums their are plenty of tests that have been done and its very clear startboost is better.

Reasons I use Aptus

Smell
resin production
taste
yield
less pesticides

I used Canna for years and H & G with great success in Yield. H & G contains the most heavy metals than anything on the market so thats obviously going to end up in your pallet when you take a rip.

H & G and Canna are great products if you dont give a shit about
taste and are just looking for yield

Plus I dont have to go but pallets of water every week I go in my car and take boxes. Trust me if anyones watching my hydro store then they are going to follow the guy in the Uhaul not the guy in the car

Been using Aptus for year I used the shit before it even had a label back in the Netherlands .

All I can say is just try it and then you decide. Thats the ultimate test

I started with Fasilitor which I added to my normal regiment which was a mix of everything.

I have tried start mass, ecozen and finale all on their own and they work and work well.

Best thing to do is go to a show and get a sample from them.

Anyone has any doubts then get a sample and test it
