SB 374 Will prevent Nevadans from growing their own!

Good luck, indeed! With tomorrow's thing and every other thing thereafter! Less than 2 weeks left and "Against" comments keep growing... Surprise, surprise! Not a single 'For' in the last 2 days. The bill is attracting nothing but negative attention from the public at this point. It essentially pisses off everyone, those that are completely against it (because well, weed.. dispensaries.. blah blah blah) and those that are for*, but are growing. It only makes happy the sponsors, Metro and the small amount of people who are wealthy enough to buy into the game. If it passes unamended I will put a cross on the idea of democracy in this country once and for all. As much as I am not naive about it anymore, not like what I used to be when I moved here, I would still like to hope that the whole process is at least somewhat functional.

I remember last summer when Metro was busting big growhouses in Las Vegas, they had their narco spokesman say on TV, "if you're a legal medical marijuana patient, growing your seven plants, you have nothing to fear from us." Well that turned out to be another lie. But anyway, apparently we weren't a problem for "law enforcement" last summer, what's their problem now that makes them need to take away our seven plants?

I don't think they realy give a shit about the public comments. Sb 221 has like 200 against and 3 for but it still passed the senate no problem

Assemblywoman Fiore just wrote back stating that if and when the bill is to move onto Assembly Judicial Committee it will still have the Amendment 333 and to contact Tick if we want it to be changed. I wrote back stating that the only thing we are asking her and the other members to do is to vote NO on the bill for as long as it has that amendment..

She did say also that the wider public comment opportunity will come up when the bill is heard by Judicial Committee.

And last but not least todays' comment section for sb374 is beginning to resemble a pissing contest.

I think those three "For" comments in a row are probably from the same asshole being an asshole three times.

My spies tell me that they heard that a modified amendment will be introduced in the Assembly Judiciary that takes out the no-grow clause, or at least modifies it someway. Also, one of the Finance Committee Members said in the paper that he expects the Bill to be amended in the Assembly; but he didn't specify how.
I'm starting not to worry about it as much. Nothing in my life is going to change one way or another because of this bill. Anarchy!

On another note, email Senator Segerblom, be nice and he will email you back. His private law practice represents employees against employers, so he's got some empathy for the oppressed, I think. If not he's a real wolf, wearing a sheep suit. Give him a chance and let him know why you need to keep growing your own meds. I know Hutch is in his other ear...

Thank you for this update, Mangocat! It definitely pays to have spies! ;) I see there is an update on the bill says Amended and passed.. but the amendment is to do with funding source from what I gather.

Sure hope they fix it in Judiciary Committee, because unfortunately many changes will have to be made in my life. Including a possible relocation, i am just not in health (not mental nor physical) to be growing illegally and have a threat of going away looming over me.

Yeah, this bill as it is would create a mess of illegal grows and people moving to Cali or Colo. Nothing that special about Nevada to keep me here. I certainly wouldn't risk a felony if that's what they make growing seven plants; but a misdemeanor...I could probably get a lot bolder.
God bless and keep those patients growing in non-medi states. That's fucking brave!

Well, from how I see it, if the current law provides an exemption from prosecution this bill would make it ineffective? No more protection? I know that is not how it is stated in the bill, but it is how I see it, so any cultivation would just be prosecuted as it was before the whole mmj thing. I could be wrong of course. But if i am not then i doubt it will be misderminor.

I agree, I was just talking what-ifs and all that rot. It's hard to believe that they would authorize dispensaries, which again legitimizes mmj, and then charge licensed patients with felonies for growing a couple or six or seven plants; especially with Twelve plants authorized in another part of the law. Of course the Jack Booted Metro can do anything they want to; but as a practical matter, my crystal ball says it ain't gonna happen. I guess the Jews were in denial too, before the Hitler show rolled through town. I'm done losing sleep over this shit though.
I'll be the last to suggest that I know what's going to come of all this. All I can do right now is write, beg for relief and hope to keep my right to grow my own.
Arizona patients are fighting their no grow rule now, I guess. Anybody know what the latest down there is?
Going camping, see you all next week and I hope we've got some celebrating to do! Peace

The bill was passed through the finance co with reservations. They told tick to make the amendments and weren't happy that they had to pass through a bill that had problems, but...they did say that it is such an important piece of legislation that it needed to move forward.
Not much discussion other that what the bill was about, what funding needed to be in place to get it started, and Tick was told to get it right. We'll see what happens there.
So on to the assembly judiciary committee....More to follow I'm sure.

Wonder which parts exactly they were unhappy with.. I sure hope he changes stuff around. Also wonder how soon the Judiciary Committee meeting will be. Time is technically running out, no? Is there even enough time to make an amendment to it and still have it pass all the way through?

During the whole hearing last week the ONLY thing they had a problem with was the no grow amendment. If there was something else they didn't let on at all.
Yeah there's enough time to amend it before it goes to the assembly judiciary co. Now that the primary sponsor has it back he can put an amendment in it canceling out the no grow amendment or add or remove anything else he wants.. Sounds simplistic but it is that easy

Just need to keep an eye on Hutchison to make sure the crooked, unsympathetic, in the pocket of leo, pos, doesn't sneak something else stupid into it. I hope Tick can keep a strong bit in the bastards mouth.

Oh Ill spend a night reading the whole thing all over again if needed..lol if he does we will know immediately. Amendments are introduced and show up under Exhibits once the Meeting date is set right? So hopefully we get an opportunity to get our eyes on it before the meeting begins and can blast them again if needed.

The pit demons pulled an all nighter but didn't touch sb374 as far as I can tell

Yeah. it still isn't on the agenda for the Assembly Judiciary Committee yet either nor is it showing where any further changes have been made to it. Just got to wait and see.

Well 6 days left. It has to be voted on in the Senate. then any amendments to be added/retracted will be made, then to the Assembly Judiciary Committee, then any changes made again, then to the assembly Finance Committee, then amended again if needed then to the full Assemble for a vote. All this takes some time. Whatever happens, when it happens, will happen pretty quick.

If this ends up passed and it does not screw up the future of growing in NV, then I will be proud of NV for the first time in my life.
