Southern Haze do u have any Knowledge on her lineage? and did u make the beans yourself? i agree the taste is a combo of fuely og diesel reminds me of petrol oil at my granddads workhouse coats your mouth with this oily taste o i will never forget IRENE

s4vvy see if u have an auto flash feature... my homies cam not sure what model some nikon had a flash feature that over rides turning the flash off in between pics u have to go to the root menu and disable from there hope that helps a little

It's good to know that at least some of the info I uncovered holds some truth. I think the only guy on the boards at that time that had relevant info was Raw Dog (aerokush as I remember him) as we discussed it a bit in pm. I had the chance to acquire the Irene about a year ago, at least that's what I'm told it was, but I wasn't growing at that time so I respectfully declined and my friend that was getting it for me has since passed. Not sure if he knew the "crew" or not but he was a pretty heavy dude so he could have been copping units or trading genetics, most of which would of come from me.
Anyways, that's another story, I'm just glad to see it's not an urban myth and others also feel like it's some pretty darn good pot. I'm sure one day I'll get the chance again. Happy growing guys, enjoy the herb!

tokinblackguy, I used to be present in ATL at times and had access to the "Irene" right around 09 maybe 08, I forget when I first saw it.
I thought I already posted to this thread but I guess not, but I had smoked 'irene' all over town through different people that had little grams and .5's and what not so it was definitely verified. However I started seeing larger quantities and then started to become very familiar with it. I never knew the grower but I heard stories as well.
As far as the description, I would describe the herb as an exact 50/50 mixture of sour diesel and kush. Looks kind of like sour diesel in the apperance with the neon light green and the dark green leafs here and there, typical SD style. The flavor is so much better and expansive than sour diesel in my opinion. Still has the SD flav, but with more of a kush body. Like smoking liquid velvet, it was so smooth, a nice aftertaste to last.
As for the story, I have one that differs slightly from the popular one on the forum. I always thought it was called "Irene" and everyone who I knew that had it at first called it that, but once I started getting closer to the grower my buddy said that it is actually mispronounced now (I guess because of the rap songs) but it was originally called "IRIE" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irie) but since irie is a not a word in the english slang, people just heard irene, and thats how it spread by word of mouth. The grower(s) know the true name, but once you got everybody and their mama calling it irene, it sort of sticks.
I'm not saying anybody else's story is wrong, but this is what I heard supposedly coming from someone's mouth that held the cut. Not sure if its true, but just another part of the story to make things ever more confusing.
