You trippin bro.. Much bigger fish to fry. The only people who really have to worry are those with large #'s going.. And you'll notice, they hardly post here. I have seen a trend in quite the opposite direction, if anything.. More or less the same place we were a few years ago. Progress is being made, they are more shaken than we are at this point. Unless you have a large portion of your income to hide I wouldn't trip, but to each his own.. Do what you gotta do bud.

There are few words that would adequately express my gratitude to you for taking the time to write that in this thread. With all the bullshit that is out there, everything I have read in the past several days...there is so much negativity. All we can control is that we are good to each other, that we treat our family, our children, our friends, and our dog well.

I dont know what it is, maybe its because ive been so upset with all of this for so long, maybe its because nobody has been able to say anything that made me feel better, because it all seems so dark, but reading that has me in tears right now.

Whatever happens, we all have to go through it together, all of us.

jumping in late here but i think it's pretty safe to say one way or the other that the genes are of southeast asian descent. it's been widely speculated that a lot of the Jamaican/Caribbean genes originally came from thailand, vietnam, cambodia, etc. and if you look at a lot of the jamaican landrace strains, you can definitely see this in their structure and growth patterns (though by now, most jamaican strains have become acclimated and have started taking on unique traits of their own).

best of luck in this project. imho, you should have at least started with two seeds. you would have increased your chances of getting one of each sex and since you aren't flowering until the fall, you would have had plenty of time to get another plant ready. also, since you are running outside, it would seem next year will be the earliest you would be ready to run another one and another year from that to pollinate an f2 (if you get a male) and then another year to test it.

whether the story is true or not, it makes for an interesting tale. i may have jumped on the shenanigan train if it didn't seem pretty obvious that you aren't really trying to profit and seem to have pretty good intentions. i will warn you, vegging a crazy landrace can be one thing but getting one to term is an entirely different beast. i wish you the best of luck and hope you can keep us updated (sucks it'll be another 4-5 months until we get to see her flowers)

For sure, and thanks again for everybody hanging in there. Yeah, the tale seems to be about as stretchy as I bet the plant is going to be, but hey...

And Im not saying that you didn't, but I often dont have the time to read through entire threads....and so I'll say again that we all have pretty much come to the conclusion that the labeling of the seeds was at best misleading...that they are probably F progeny... ALTHOUGH...and I should post pictures of this...If you read some of the first posts I talk about a native american corn cache being found and seeds germinating after sever centuries of storage...I just cleaned out my root cellar and found pumpkin seeds and corn that were labeled 1996...and I have 100% germination on 4 test corn seeds, and they are the most vigorous of all my corn germ tests, including 2012 seed purchased this year. So we dont know. But Im betting, and the conclusion seems to be, that this is not a 40+ year old seed that made this plant. Anyway thanks for checking out the thread, and no worries, jump in anytime, your presence is a present.

Also the 'structure' if you can call it that, is so wild that it looks like absolutely NO intensive selection was made on whatever gene pool this came from...I know my grandfather always selected for his strongest seeds...so it may be F, but Im betting 'n' is not a very high value and that any grow outs between 1972 and now were A) not done by my grandfather, and B) consisting of a small number of individuals to select from....

True Bear, your gramps could have made f2s that lasted years before he had to make f3s - and so on. The truth is that these could have been f2 x f3 - any weird old cross/backcross. Its just cool as shit that he saved them at all.

Oh, and I could have sworn Gandalf said "Dankness took me..." - I could be wrong. It still works either way.

Doing great guys, thanks. She is finally starting to go up, but not very fast. Not much change in size actually. I have been experimenting with grafting quite a bit, actually to the point of being excessive. I have grafted Destroyer to her, and her to Destroyer (swap!). Also grafted hops to Panama and Diesel to hops!
