I breathe on my vegging plants, long aaaaahhhhhs on them. Helps with carbon dioxide I tell myself.

Decided to pick up some lightweight seed starting mix. .... I can't read the language on the bag, but it's lightweight and says it provides good aeration and drainage.
I've learnt the hard way: If you canna read it, donna use it.

You can PM me a pic of this talking bag, my thai is pretty good, my muay thai even better, but my mai tai is the best.

Thanks, but for security reasons, I can't show you the bag. ;) It does have some English on it and enough to convince me to try it! I read that a good way to test out potting mix for 'lightness' is to simply pick it up and see how heavy it is in the bag. This stuff is much lighter than the other stuff.

I breathe and smoke a little around them too. Smoking is bad, but I don't smoke much, so it shouldn't be too bad. ;)

They're definitely growing and finally doing better. Yields may be affected, but it's still early days and the nodes are starting to stack. A touch of nute burn on the seedling which is just getting started on its third node. The 'stem' is definitely starting to put out its first serrated leaves too!

I have a good feeling the new seed will do much better than the others once it comes up.

Hee hee.

Your all guilty of farting in the grow room and pondering its worth to the plants.

Just saying

Peace

That had genuinley never occured to me

I have a few times filled a bong with herbal (not weed) tobacco-free mix, pulled on it until it was full of smoke. opened the hit hole and instead of inhaling, exhaled as hard as I could through the mouth piece sending all the smoke from the bong into my cabinet, it seemed a good way of providing CO2

They say smoke clogs up the stomata and is no good for plants, but they definitely get more CO2 with us around! I spend around an hour a day just out of HPS range, kneeling and watching them.

That's a valid point, I guess it would remove some of the airborne ash. I have a nice glass bong with ashcatcher that I haven't used in forever. Once I harvest this crop, I'll give it a good cleaning and put it to good use. :) I almost never smoke spliffs nowadays (and never with tobacco). I have a few choice glass pipes I much prefer to smoke from.

Whatever you do, keep your thoughts clear - the plants can read your intentions.

I believe it, I try and send them positive vibes and love.

Just picked up some more goodies....$13 US for...

high grade coco peat brick (for professional nursery use...nice). 1 cubic ft and expands to over 20 gallons when hydrated!
large perlite...ten gallons
essential microorganisms...200g
rice husk charcoal
a proprietary agricultural organic fert made with fish meal, oyster meal, fulvic acid and a bunch of other really sweet stuff...

I can now go completely organic, and in two gallon smart pots to boot :) Once the Jets are done, I may keep one around to attempt and reveg. I'll add EMs to the other pots to 'eat' the roots, and then cut the old mix with coco and perlite for another round with another strain.

Got my worm castings today. Light, fluffy and clean smelling. They were unceremoniously packed in a plastic shopping bag and a little is spilling out! I'm going to let it dry out just a tad for storage. Getting the moisture level just right is a bit tricky, but vital. I really want to use them, and I know my plants will LOVE them (used them on an outdoor grow on another continent), but I have to let the soil dry out as much as the plants can bear before the next watering. I expect them to explode with new growth once the worm casting tea hits their roots!

OK, I prepared some casting solution for folair...then realized I don't want to spray my female since she has pistils I may end up smoking. I ended up feeding and watering them all. They should be good for another week or so now.

In other news...I have a fifth sprout (5/5 so far) and this one looks like it had a much easier time sprouting. It still has its seed coat on, but I misted the seedling down since the fan seems to have dried things out a fair bit. Let's see if it can remove it with its own juice.

My little female is EXTREMELY dense and branchy...the densest plant I've ever grown for sure. She has put on a few inches this week and a little stretch too, and lots of leafy branches all over. I think the light intensity and fan blowing on her constantly are why she is the way she is. I'm going to ensure she doesn't get blown around so much now that she's putting out pistils.

The fifth seedling is up. I helped it out last night and removed the seed coat and membrane...jumped the gun a bit as it was still straightening out, but the low humidity in the tent from the powerful 12" oscillating fan was going to make it difficult. It looked perfectly fine and was already working on its first serrated leaves this morning.

The stem is slowly but surely putting out some serrated leaf matter, although it looks like the leaves are missing their tips! Strange little plant indeed. I'll let it go a little longer.

The male is about a foot tall and lots of flowers have opened, but I don't see any sign of pollen. Again, that may be because the fan blew it all around. I'll let it go for another few days and then cut it down and dry it for smoke. Males can actually be more potent than females, funnily enough!

The female is really getting stinky. I think organics really bring out the aroma better.

I looked into the bags of castings today and noticed they were absolutely TEEMING with life. I moved all the castings into bags by hand yesterday, and left the tops open to dry. Well, today I saw all kinds of bugs and worms in there; at least ten species. This being the tropics, that's no surprise. I think I even spotted a few dead baby earthworms. :(

I'll continue to let the bags dry down so the bug population dies off, but not so much that I lose out on all biological activity. Castings really do amazing things for plants.

I haven't dug around for them since the last BTI application (I used it twice). Watered with EWC a few days ago and I should have put some BTI in the water. I'll check again today and let you know!

Still some gnats. The male had shot up like 2" overnight, and dropped pollen and flowers. Some pollen ended up in #5's cup. I rubbed some pollen into the current top of the female, and then decided his time was up. Thanked Shiva for him and cut through the stem. He's in a Ziplock now. I'm waiting for more pollen to rub in.

I put #5 into the male's space. The transplant was messy since it wasn't rooted, but the taproot had already hit the bottom of the cup. I watered with a tea of castings, kelp and BTI.

I used #5's cup and filled it with the soil and pebbles I'd removed. Sowed an Ice Cream. At almost 11 Euros a seed, I really hope I get a good, healthy plant I can clone several times over. I've never taken a clone in my life!

Everything is doing wonderfully after the castings feed; I'll definitely use more with the next watering. This will be the last dose of nitrogen the female gets unless she shows me that she needs more.

My little female! 29 days old today. Six days since it showed sex. 8-9" tall, but I packed more soil around the stem for more support. She's about 6-7" wide and branching all over. Great growth this week, and she smells great! I love the funk of a good Afghani hybrid. I bet she'll smoke great once she's done! 5-8 more weeks should do it for this one.
