Beautiful girls. I've been trying simon's curing method, & I like it-

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=156237

I've been using a couple of large Boveda packs in the jar to hold the humidity steady at 62% once it reaches the cure zone. Dunno where you live, but the humidity here in Denver is often very low, so the Boveda packs just seemed like good insurance.

So far, so good. The stuff just seems to get better the longer it's curing... going on 2 months now.

I harvested about 90% of plant #2, left some smaller popcorn buds I thought wasn't really done.

I also realized I did a piss poor job with the scrog... plant #2 took less than 25% of the canopy space compared to plant #1. On my next grow I'll be more aggressive with the weaving.

How's my manicuring for a first timer? Not too awful?

Added an almond for scale ;)

Hopefully plant #1 will fatten up because it's still taking about 60-70% of overall canopy space!

Also, if manicuring were to be compared to sex, I'd say manicuring popcorn is like sex with a rubber. It's still sex, but there's a huge annoying factor to it.

Haha! Too true man!

Looks like a job well done to me man, they will look fantastic when dry! Wet bud always looks trashy too me, maybe I'm just strange though :dunno:

Love the colours! (and I need whatever camera you are using!)

I'm currently drying at 75F and about 40% rH.

How long should it take, approx, before they're dry enough to cure? 2-3 days?

As for the camera, any decent SLR will be able to replicate this kind of dynamic range. Even mere point and shoot cameras (or phones) could mimic this DR with a bit of post processing in Lightroom or Photoshop.

The only shots that would be difficult to replicate for non-professionals/experienced are probably the trich shots... these require quite a bit of specialized equipment, skills and experience.

I would say a tad bit longer than 2-3 days, more like 6-7? My first grow ever I dried in similar conditions for 4 days and ended up losing a jar to mold

Depends on bud density and airflow also though, so you just gotta keep a close eye on them. I usually pick one of the fatter nugs as a tester to give a little squeeze everyday to get a better feel for how fast they are drying.

Off topic: You have inspired me to start looking into photography as a hobby, as I'm in need of a new one! Sounds technical enough to keep me interested ;) thanks man!

Photography started out as a hobby for me, and became a career. It offers endless possibilities and specialties. It's art and technology mixed together. It's very fun. But can become expensive real quick, so you have to be careful :)

If you want to learn the basics, I highly recommend a book called Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. I have taught it to students as well, and is the first book I read when I started photography (I'm self-taught)).

Taking shots of your plants is definitely both fun AND useful, as macro photography can give you hints on ripeness, diseases, etc.

That's awesome man, I just so happen to be trying to figure out my long term career at the moment (at 23 you would think I would have some idea) so really need to be getting a skill set in some sort of industry.

Just got Bryan's book and will have a good read today....love his intro haha!

Thanks for the recomendation! ;)

So whats the smell like coming from the trimmed buds atm?

Hey, congrats on your first harvest! I'm looking forward to a smoke report. In terms of how long to dry - it really depends on bud density and airflow as well as temp and rh. Mine dry out fast in my setup; I leave leaves on to try to slow it down a bit, but the outside still gets somewhat crispy around the 3 day mark. At that point, they go into jars which are left open for long periods of time, until the closed RH settles around 60%. Seems to work for me.

Also, it's okay to indulge your curiosity and smoke a half-dried, uncured popcorn sample. It won't be as good as the final product in terms of taste or smoothness, but it'll give you some idea of what's in store stone-wise.

I vaped a small nug to test the high today -- superb. Unfortunately, they taste like shit. Looks like they'll need a good cure.

The high is... am-uhhhh-zing.

This is me right now
tumblr_mls7c6jWHa1s924q3o1_500.jpg

Just wow. I never experienced anything like it. No sleepiness/drowsiness at all. After vaping M39 for years (a cross of Northern Lights #5 and Skunk #1 found only here), I had gotten used to the indica-type of high. Just last month I went through an ounce of Critical Mass and already could tell the difference in high versus the M39, which is all I ever had access to until now. Aside from this I've had some chronic a few times. Therefore my global experience with strains was quite limited.

But this KM high is phenomenal. I feel very stimulated, which is a super weird feeling for me, since it's absolutely counter intuitive compared to what I've come to expect. It feels like blood is rushing to my head but rather than puffing my eyes red and making them look drowsy, I'm super awake. Almost uplifted.

If the high only gets better from hereon out after curing, I am one satisfied motherfucker right now.

Growing it yourself tends to make it more special as well. Glad you got what you were hoping for.

What's in the bullpen for the next run?
