Kali Mist Grow Journal

Is dry ice worth getting if I have access to is? Does it really enhance the hash's quality? Or is regular ice good enough?

Dry ice is cheap, it's just I wonder if it's worth the hassle.

I would say the main difference using dry ice with the bags would be a bigger end yield?

I'm interested in trying it myself, only stuffed around with using solvents to make hash..

Day 122-70

It's been seven days since I last posted a trich update.

Today is day 70 of flower. According to Serious Seed's website, Kali Mist flowers in 70-90 days, so hopefully, I have no more than three more weeks of flower here.

The trichs are looking good but unless I am mistaken, this does not look ready for harvest.

Are all pistils supposed to be brown as well as having swollen cloudy trichs?

If that was my Kali I would harvest right now! Simon of serious seeds recomends no amber, and mostly cloudy but it's your meds ;)

Serious seeds should use that trich shot for Kali mist marketing, amazing...

The amber trich showed up like 2 weeks ago. I thought they were anomalies.

Plant #1 still needs another 20 days for sure, but the buds on plant #2 all look exactly like the photo above. A few buds still have white pistils at the peak. Are they supposed to all turn brown before cutting?

Are they turning amber from heat up top? If you can find any amber elsewhere lower on that plant you could pull today for sure.

Depends though, first sativa yeh? Maybe you want a few amber so it doesn't overwhelm you, help mellow out the head high....all up to your preference :)

I'm just so excited right now, I was expecting another two weeks of flower.

Thing is, plant #1 will run another 20-30 days, so what I am thinking right now, is I harvest plant #2, and I'll be less in a rush to harvest plant #1 and can let that one run longer. That way, when I grow KM next time, I'll know which batch I preferred and harvest at the preferred time.

YES?

And white pistils pretty much just indicate new calyx growth, many a sativa will continue to throw new pistils after maturation. Up to us to find the perfect potency/weight ratio.

Not saying the other gal is ready, just keep a close eye on her.

Perfect plan mate, Kinda worked out well that one fell behind!

Figure out you're preference on thrichs and cure the impatience all in one go ;) That's the reason I run the Russians at the same time, so I don't get annoyed with the Kali!

Yeh the other is leaps and bounds infront, hopefully now all light leaks are sorted she will continue to power on ;)

It's going to be a bit more of a pain than usual to trim due to the extra leaf material caused by the light leak, and the buds might look a little leafy, but I think it will be great smoke!

Here are non close-up shots of the buds... quite a few more white pistils left than I had thought. Lack of white light out of the LED fudges the color perception when you look in the tent.

Feel free to wait for a more opinions, but I would take her now! That's exactly what I want to be looking at when I chop my Kali's.

If you wait past this point your just trading THC for CBN and getting a slightly bigger yeild.

My way of thinking is that if you wanted a stoney, lethargic high with big yields you would have chosen an indica. I put up with long sativa flowering times for the positive thoughts and good feelings.

Sooooo....I say 100% for sure she is ready, But thats just my opinion! ;)

EDIT: Did you get any cutting of this lovely lady? Would be a shame if it was mind blowing and was a early finisher, but couldn't grow it again!

Alrighty, I'm on my way to the gym for a workout, then tonight I'll be harvesting this sexy lady and manicuring ALL NIGHT LONG. Will post pics afterwards.

I'll weight after manicuring and before drying just for comparison sake. I assume I should end up with 10-20% of the wet weight in dry buds?

Sadly I did not take any cutting, I had no room to accommodate clones at the time, sadly.

Wooohooo!

Just make sure you don't have high expectations until its been curing a couple of weeks, the taste and potency will be muuuuuuch better! And 80% weight loss sounds right to me mate.

Shit..........I'm excited for you man! First grow, first sativa, and a beautiful Kali mist to show for it all. You done it right the first time mate ;)
