Any professional poker players out there?

Man, i can't believe how easy making money playing poker is.

I've only been playing for 3 months, make 50$ an hour playing zoom poker at the 0.10$/0.25$ micro stakes table and I'm not even close to being a poker master.

It's ridiculous, I've only read 5 books about it, mastered the math, a small chunk of the psychology behind it and make twice as much as i used to working at a "real" job.

It's been a month, I've made 8000$ and left my job yesterday. :D

Are there any other professional poker players out there ?

Well... If u can get back up after being felted... Then get broke yet again, and still manage to pick urself up & keep ur head abouts ya... Then u can call urself a pro. Let us know in a year or two... Anyone can ride a short term upswing ;-)

Yeah but technically, i am a pro because that's what i do for a living right now.

I'm not gonna move up stakes anytime soon tho.

With 3 months of rent paid and 200 buy-in in my poker account, i doubt I could get broke too badly if i don't play like an idiot.

Beside, 50$ an hour is pretty nice, it's nowhere near what those guys make at the 200$/400$ table ( I've seen a dude make 15000$ in 3 minutes ) but, it's great nonetheless.

Played over one million hands before the ban hit. Now it's too much trouble for US player. Maybe I'll find a way again but I was beating the ftp $1/$2 blind NLH tables in 09 for decent rate.

Im just saying... Took 70k off the tables my very first year and moved to vegas. Paid my bills for 5 years just off the tables... Wasnt rich, but paid for my lifestyle. But there were 3 times that i went from 40k playing role down to being a rail bird... The last time really fucked with my head and i lost my edge...was nothing but a gambler at that time. I still play, still pull money, but have very little patience compared to before... Its very much a psychological issue, over time, and that leads away from numbers and odds to some very irrational behaviors, lol. Let me tell ya ;-)

Well, keep ur heads about ya. And expect that just as there are short term positive runs, u will also get knocked back by the short term bad runs, which by the numbers, absolutely will happen... And when they happen, it seems to defy the odds. Month after month after month u go in with the best of it, only to discover the short of it takes u down. Short term bad runs can extend for months, and seem nonsensical, but really its just a matter of sample sizes... You need to take a long approach to the numbers (like look at it over the average of years). And that takes a very well managed and properly sized bankroll. Playing a 1-2 and being able to not feel pinched at any time (to ride the runs).. 30k minimum, pref 50k. If i went 2-5 full time again, id want 50-70k sitting in a box. Assuming i could manage my own head, lol.

Growing, although there are risks, is actually much more stable. Trade in a sklansky book for a cervantes, use that as ur base, and taking extra cash off the tables becomes much less stressful and easier to come by. im a b&m guy though... too many cases of ol scamming. U c anglres being shot at the tables, but ol...? U r just fucked if its rigged up, and that really has happened and likely still does ;-)

keep that head level man, and no i cant bankroll ya! Peace

Nail on the head!!!!!

Poker is an awsome game, and there are times when nothing makes sense at all no matter how conservative or measured you play. There is also a major difference in playing online and live tables. You sit down at the Bellagio and you're in a whole other world from alone behind a computer. I used to do very well on pokerstars before the fed mobsters shut it down. Even won a wsop entry/trip on there.
If you want to become a real pro OP, you need to find some real table games.
Remember this, the only difference in limit poker and no-limit poker is the ability to bluff big. That is the key right there. No matter if you are on the recieving end or you are the one bluffing, you're ability to read a man's soul is where the edge is.

Good luck!!

I understand what you're saying but, poker isn't my sole income.

I've got a tiny online business running itself generating 700$ a month, there's 35,000$ sitting in my bank account, i could also develop websites for small/medium businesses if i needed to and I'm not materialistic so i never spend any money ever.

Picture it, i live in a crappy 400$ a month apartment, the only furnitures i have are my bed, my computer, my fridge, a microwave and I'm perfectly happy with what i have.

Also, i do have a bit of knowledge about growing but, it's not a profitable career around here. A pound of top shelf indoor is 1000$ because of how cheap our electricity is. I would have to cross the border and dump my stuff in new-york to make money which is a risk I'm not willing to take.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
