Just finishing up my current run of 2gal hempys with a 2x4 screen in one of my closets...ive realized the screen is entirely too big since i dont get too good of coverage on the outter edges.

I decided to purchase a 3x3x5tent for this go around for my next run, which will be 2 gal coco smartpots with drippers. Currently i have a 250w hydrofarm sunburnst linked below:

Im looking into sticking with a 250w but upgrading my reflector. I see VerdantGreen uses a diamond reflector and ive been looking for something similar to this or a good reflector that will cover a 2.5x2.5 area.

Im up for any suggestions in regards to reflectors that will cover that size so feel free to post pictures, links, etc!

Thanks in advance

With a 3x3 tent you'll get much better results with 400w or 600w. That or return the 3x3 and use a 2x2 tent so you don't waste 30% of the light. The Super Sun 2 is a good choice for a 3x3 coverage... it has a fairly narrow coverage angle which is good if you're not going to use the outer perimeter 3sq ft of the tent.

I also vote for the Super Sun 2. There was a thread a few years ago where somebody compared a bunch of reflectors and the Super Sun 2 was the best out of all the ones they tried.

Go with a blockbuster and upgrade to a 400. Or 600 if u can for that area...otherwise stick to smaller tent and work on maximizing space with a super sun 2. Just my 2 cents. Good vibez

thanks for all the info guys! Im not sure i can get away with a 400w in my area due to heat concerns and id really rather not get into the whole cooltube scenario as id like to keep things small for personal use. i like the 250w and the temps i get with it given my modded stanley blower, can 33 filter, and a couple osc fans, but the hood i have doesnt give much coverage hence why im lookin for a better hood. i suppose i could look into remote ballasts for a 400w, but this 250 has only seen 2 runs and id hate to scrap it already!

for a 3x3 tent thats only 5ft tall id get a coolsun. The test done by pico on here are not going to work for you since they didnt test hoods close enough as you can run your 250w. I have a supersun2, coolsun, and blockbuster. the supersun2 has to be up much higher to get same coverage as coolsun hood. At 12'' away the coolsun has much more coverage. My blockbuster is better then either of them but is to big for your tent if you ever do decide to hook up air ducts.

Thanks trich! I think i actually found a decent 400w here locally. The guy got it from htgsupply but has never used it....400w with the batwing style reflector brand new for $50. Im hoping this wont cause heat issues in the tent. I do have a stanley blower modded for scrubbin that i could modify to exhaust out the tent. I also have a hydrofarm 90cfm fan i can use for intake with a few osc fans blowing around. never been in a completely enclosed environment so im not sure how its going to work. Currently in my closet, the 250w gets around 75 degrees without any real intake/exhaust. the stanley is pulling through a can 33 then just blowing back into the closet.

you will almost double your yield with 400w. Those stanley fans are 256 cfm right? If you ran that fan as exhaust and scrubber it would work for your tent but would have to exhaust heat elsewhere. Look at it like you are already working with a 250 watt heat source and your only adding another 150 watts of heat then your use to but in a bigger area(im assuming). Sounds like your ambient temp is real good if your putting tent in same room as your current setup.

currenlty im around 80 with lights on but it is going to get warmer here, however i do have central AC so that should help keep temps down. unfortunately my only option is to exhaust into the same room as the tent. its a 12x12 room that i use as an office. if air is scrubbed and clean of odor then having the office doors open every so often isnt a problem as i rarely have people over. i might be able to pull cool air from a window, but that would be a last resort. im starting to wonder now with the 400 if im going to need to aircool it

can you get tent close to air conditioning vent and make a "box" so that the tent is hooked up to vent constantly. even when AC not running the room would get fresh air from your AC returns then.

trich, thats actually a damn good idea. i have the AC floor vent right next to where my tent will be. Am i better off building a box intake that covers the entire AC vent or leave a couple inches for it to blow some cool air into the room as well?

Im going to pickup the 400w today that just has the generic batwing reflector. for only $60 its hard to beat considering the unit has never been used. i can pickup a reflector in a week or so...itll give me time to shop around online for some good prices on coolsuns or supersun 2s. Whats your thoughts on the yiled master II hoods? see alot of em on craigslist here

The yield masters arent as good, they dont have enough bends in reflector more round shaped, there still good quality though. Id let the "box" open alittle to let it cool room as well, works for me. Just make sure you look at the 95% reflective made in USA coolsun not the 86% reflective made somewhere else coolsun.

I was just looking at home depot and they actually have a floor register that adapts to 6" ducting, however that wouldnt allow for the room to get cooled at all...looks like ive got a new little DIY project! lol

any good suggestions on where to buy the hood? i see they are a tad on the spendy side.

I get my hoods at local shop, i always wheel and deal with guys there to get stuff cheaper. If you order a hood that is a sun system hood you take the chance of it showing up in big black box with big sticker showing what it is.
