I make edibles, sugar free for TOH, so he eats his weed. It is just difficult having to witness all the highs and lows in blood sugar, and the accompanying effects. Sometimes he can be very grouchy, when it is low, he gets confused. His blood sugar was 396 an hour ago...he is asleep, cause he gets super tired, when it is high. This is definitely a roller coaster ride for him...up and down. It sucks pretty badly that so many people are affected by this disease.

Some of this info might help.

**PLEASE NOTE. I AM NOT MAKING ANY CLAIMS THAT THIS DRINK WILL CURE DIABETES**

Lucy gave me the recipe. The only thing with which I was not familiar was Chinese bittermelon. My daughter looked up bittermelon on the internet and said told me that the main job bittermelon does is level blood sugar.

I am going to give you the recipe.

The recipe is:

Juice the following:

Half of a bell pepper
Half of a cucumber
2 stalks of celery
1 apple
6 to 8 inches of bittermelon.

(in other words if it is a large {long} bittermelon, cut it in half. If it is small, use the whole thing.)

This is one day supply. Drink every morning.

I usually double the recipe the recipe and make for two days. It cuts down on cleaning the juicer.

I usually seed the bell pepper, but I leave the membrane in. It has juice, too.

I usually peel the cucumber with a potato peeler because commercial cucumbers are dipped in paraffin. I put the whole cucumber in without the green peeling.

I core the apple and remove the seeds. I do not peel the apple.

The bittermelon can be compared to Kumquats. You eat the peeling and throw the middle away. Put the peeling though the juicer, but save the middle for the seed.

I usually do the celery last. It has strings that clog up the juicer.

We never did stop taking our medicine. However, the doctor told me on my last visit, if I had any incidents of low blood sugar, I must let them know so they can readjust my medication. Ya Hoo!

I think this is wonderful!

I am not promising miracles, but as far as we are concerned, the juice of bittermelon and vegetables are on our diet forever.

JPT, my pleasure. Let us know how it works out please! Castout, I hope that some of these methods of juicing and fasting can help with whatever else TOH is on. Please notify the doctor of a fast and maybe build up to it with daily juicing, mild detox, etc. The last link I posted was very inspiring in relation to the blood sugar highs/lows. Juicing has changed my life for the best. I've water fasted as well. Much more intensive. Should definately not be done without a doc's supervision. Blessings, cmuz

Careful with the bitter melon. Though it may be valuable for short term use, long term is going to eventually cause issues.

http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/depictor5.pl?475 Not one single blood type or secretor status is ok with it. Just letting you know.

Definitely pay careful attention to your reactions to any changes in diet and make those changes gradually when other issues are involved.

The blood type diet will cure type-II diabetes, if the damage to the body isn't too great to overcome. The longer the person has been a diabetic, the longer the turnaround. I have no idea if it will 'cure' Type-I but I know it will help significantly and greatly improve the quality of life. :)

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

Thank you all for the information. It is amazing the things the dr.'s don't tell him about. His blood sugar was 120 this morning, he had some breakfast, and it crept up to 185. He took 4 untits of insulin. It seems like it is stabilizing a little today. I get really scared when it gets too low, cause he has seizures....but what i fail to remember is when it is high, it is causing damage, I cannot see. So frustrating. But i will take this respite from the roller coaster ride.

well if U'r interested in... non traditional medicine... then consider this...
I recently {last 2wks}... have started a daily diabetic detox...
i drink this now every AM w/ my other meds...
1 glass water...
add 2 TBS RAW apple cider Vinegar
add 2 TBS fresh lemon juice
add 2 tsp cinnamon powder
add 1 tsp Molasses
add 1 pinch Cayenne pepper powder
Blend VERY very well....
and drink...quickly... rather ruff @ 1st, but over time U adjust
and I'm seeing VERY positive effects in blood sugar levels...
increased metabolism, and much much more energy, in addition to the ph balance
that helps my other meds regulate thru the system...
so far it's a work in progress w/ initial good results...
U might have him try...

Yort, thank you for the info. We are going shopping later today, and will pick up RAW cider vinegar. We have all the other ingredients.
He is willing to do whatever it takes, and he is SICK of me watching over him and making him check his sugars!!!
He went to play some golf yesterday afternoon.......although I think he also wanted to get away from my hovering.
It is hard for me, because I want him to be better, and I do hover and hang.
Last night, he actually wouldn't show me his sugar.
The infection on his leg is clearing up, with the amoxicillin.
I am hoping he is going to see improved blood sugar, once he starts the eat right for your blood type diet.
We also went to all the links that peeps have posted, and are really surprised about how little TOH's drs really talked with him about his diabetes.
Thank you all for all the positivity, and all the information!!!
It is very comforting to have so many people reach out, with things that have worked for them.....and share with us the experiences, so TOH can try some of them.
Have a great day everyone, you are all wonderful, amazing people.

Positive thought going out to TOH & castout. I too have been fighting diabetes for over 25 years. I don't know what I would do without the VA.
Wishing you both the best that can be.

TOH has diabetes, and this weekend, has been a roller coaster ride for him. He went to bed Friday night, and his blood sugar was fine, he woke up at 4 in the morning, and it was 34(he usually has seizures when it drops that low), he ate peanut butter toast, and woke up at 7 am, with a blood sugar of 403. he has been an insulin dependent diabetic, since he was 7. We have been together for 13 yrs, and I have seen his diabetes get worse and worse. His blood sugars get harder and harder to manage. The way they bounce around wreaks havoc on his body. Seeing a doc, is not an option, and even when he did go to the dr, they just told him that this is the progression of the disease. He is starting to get these little red bumps on his lower legs, at first we thought in grown hair, then a spider bite.....he had them a few years ago, and they got infected, and he had to have surgery, to drain them. I have my own medical issues, but his worry me way more. I would gladly give my life, to make his better. He has been so strong his whole life, and he doesn't deserve this shit. He is truly the most decent and honorable person I know. He is ethical kind, and trustworthy. I would truly be lost without this man, in my life. So, if you are feeling like doing a good deed today, send some positive healing vibes, to TOH, the other half, to my whole. Thank you.

our thoughts go out to u guys dude.. sorry to hear about it . fight on brother fight on .

hard times come and go .. we need to be there for people during these times..

much love
BG.

update

TOH's blood sugars leveled out, as soon as he had been on the antibiotics for a few days.
The Diabetes Folliculitis, was bad, and he had several infected areas.
There was nothing affecting his foot, which is very good, because he can get an infection there, and possibly lose his foot.
His blood sugars have been on the high end of "normal", at about 187-220.
We will gladly take those numbers, over what he had been dealing with.
I am worried what will happen when he runs out of antibiotics, because he has all these red bumps, that get infected quite easily.
I guess the idea of an infection, is terrifying.
An infection could cost him a limb, or his life.
My life would be over, without him.
Our circumstances are.....different. We are together 24/7. It has been like that for the last 2 1/2 trs.
He can really irritate me, and piss me off....but he is the best person I know.
I try to be as decent and strong as he is.
I sometimes am more afraid of his diabetes, than he is.
Diabetes is the enemy, and it is always making it's presence known.
Thank you all for the support...it means more, than either of us, can ever express.
Please send positive vibes to all those affected by the tornadoes...they desperately need those vibes, right now.

This is all I read, nothing after yet. But absolutely, I will try my best to send good vibes and hope your friend recovers. I have type 2 for the last 8 years of my life, and I have had red itchy little bumps break out, usually on my arms or belly and never infected but then again I have a brown bump on my back for some time that gets itchy and larger every so often so I do worry a bit. The nurse practitioner blamed it on something ridiculous like shingles or ecsema, but after seeing your post, I doubt it. My levels have become harder and harder to keep at a proper level and so I worry and avoid blood tests (because every one says I have more problems and need more meds) because the results depress the hell out of me! I have wildly fluctuatiing numbers from the 60's (maybe lower don't remember) to the 430's! So now they refuse to refill my meds unless I do the test, but sympathetic secretaries I think have behind the scenes because I have gotten one time refills. But I know she will not refill the insulin without an appointment so I have been without it for over a week and taking the woefully inadequate pills I was on before. At least I maintain 200s instead of higher. Well I have to get tested soon and no one will care if I vanish suddenly, but I am sorry for the diversion. I wish your friend well from the bottom of my heart!
