Be interesting to see a country that IS run by its people. Pretty sure government in general is rarely an example of the public opinion. Peace GS

well said chef, to be Canadian is special to me and as I stated earlier Im very proud of it we may not be perfect but no1 is:)

Good on you.

I like to tease my cousins (and almost everyone in Eastern Canada IS a cousin.)
Canada is pretty cool as far as nation states go and the people take friendly to a different level. I popped in on some family I barely knew as a child while I was passing through to be polite and just say hello. Within a half hour there were 50 people there and more food and drink for another 100.
I finally got away 2 days later.
Damn, those guys can drink!
C'est Bon.

I think that Canada has minimal military because a War Plan Red-esque scenario is still the go-to option should anyone attempt to invade the US, and the Canadian government probably knows that.

This is my random piece of uneducated speculation from a far away land..

I live close to the border, Montreal is only about 2 hours away or so, 5 hours to Quebec City. Been many 'a good times.

They must be paying for all that social health care through the beer prices! Yikes. I love those white Wit style Beers up there, but man hang on to your wallet. A 6 pack costs like $15, more like $20 for something micro-brewed.

I think that if you can manage it Quebec City is a better visit then Montreal.

Herman: The truth is that Quebec City is like American Europe, while Montreal feels like dirty Europe... we'd always say Euro Trash when referring to black leather clad, fancy eyeglass wearing hipster Montreal visitors when I was a teen.
