you can see how it wouldve worked had i used a screen, but i kind of like it without. even though it would be a little awkward at first, using this technique in vert could be huge! i did defoliate as well in case you were wondering why my ladies look so bare! and i do know what those strains are, just not from these pics.. im running over 10 genetics right now, which is cool, but not as efficient as i want it to be.

ok

ok

ok this is what I do for a few plants I am putting outside and I wish I had pics, but they are outside now and I will not go back to the sites until october. What I do is veg the plant straight up until it is like 3' tall. I then like said, transplant to a larger pot sideways into the pot so the pant is laying on its side. I then push thre plant down below the level of the transplant bucket and keep it tied like that until it is trained. So now when it is trained I take this to my prepared grow site. I scrape the whole stalk lightly and cover this with rooting hormone. I now put the plant into its hole with the plant going into the little trench I made to bury the stalk as if it were a vine. I cover this. Now what you have is
3 or 4 ft of plant buried with just the new shoots sticking out of the dirt. This will grow roots and you have a snake of a plant growing out of the ground along like 3 feet. It grows a huge shrublike plant. I brought my bud to harvest one last year and he could not believe it was MJ because it looked like a shrub brush now a mj plant....he has no exp. with growing.....

This works great. I have done this indoors and grown it out across the floor and built a 3/4"pvc framework to support it....my conclusion?
you occupy too much space which could be better used with more plants growing up then one single plant with multiple shoots.....
I use the Maxibloom lucas formula so expense on nutes for more plants is not a big issue vs grow room space and light used for amount of final product.

another way you could do this is to top your plant when it has thre pairs of branches.Take off the two bottom branches. This leaves four branches. Spread them in one direction each, like a compass. Take branches coming of these main branches and tie them sideways. Leave everything growing sideways for how long you need. When flowering, Take off extra branches, and you shold have a LOT of tops..

then take the plant.. transplant it into a container side ways.. so that the stem is pointing out instead of up... then allow the plant to turn the leaves n such into the lights..

is starting my outdoor plants early.. but the places i grow outdoors i need to keep them short.. but lugging out plants that are 3 feet tall with minimal branching is easier then bushes..

Hi, BasementGrower.

The point about terminal tips genetically tending to grow vertically, as opposed to at an angle, might have been previously mentioned in this thread.

Bamboo stakes, held in position of an approximate 30 to 45 degree angle, with the primary stem and, or, branches tied to the stake(s) at approximate 3 inch spacing, or intervals, might work.

We developed our SRBGB Tube for similar applications. Relevant to `lugging` plants or trees outdoor, our SRBGB Backpack, at the same post, might also be of interest to you.

We hope that this post might be helpful. If you would like us to remove this post from your thread, please PM us or post here. Thanks.

Kind regards,
/SRGB/

for anyone who still cares.. this works.. great actually ..if u do this 1 week before turning to 12/12 u can end up with a ton of tops.. we have 30 plants 10 plants per 1000w. and im really looking at about a qp per plant so far so good.

I had to do this with a skunkxhaze this run. i didn't flip her onto her side until 2 weeks into flowering when she stretched way past the rest. she is in week #9 right now with only about 2 weeks left and she is doing great! she flipped leafs and tops towards the light within the first light cycle sideways. I would say go ahead and give it a go worst thing that happens if you have to tie the pot down so it doesn't fall over when flowers swell up.

I do this to all my plants now.. not plant them side ways.. but I bend the main stem down a few weeks before I toss into 12/12 like 3 weeks.. and by flower.. they all have tons of tops.. then I go threw.. after stretch.. and pull out all the shit that isn't going to produce... so that I have a ton of colas.. instead of a few and more side bud..

my yields haven't gone up a lot.. but they have been more quality bigger nugs.. so I continue..
