Moving on to Bigger and Better Things

Awesome light penetration, I'm using 4 180w extreme flower panels from advanced and that is my only gripe with them. Gonna upgrade to the XML when I can afford it, I bet those 10w chips are sick. Great grow looking forward to the finish!

Thanks, I had the 180 for a bit but gave it back to my brother. I didn't think it was all that impressive, but it did much better than the blackstar's that it was next to. Not sure how the XML work, but the footprint of the 400DS, and its performance make it the light of choice for a 4' wide section. I still want to get 2 more of them so that they cover 2 plants each. I might even expand to get a 4th in there and put 2 more plants in the tent with a scrog in there.

I was also considering just getting a light mover for the 400DS and have it go back and forth the 8' in the center, then have the six 100DS on the sides. Seems like the cheaper option for the time being. Or maybe even get two of them on light movers.... hmm.

I think the light mover will be good, I have one but the 180 setup isn't right for using it. I plan to use it with an HPS light next month. I think the big difference of the XML is adjustable wattage, there are 4 10w Cree chips in the mix and it has a square footprint. The XML is 350w while the DS is 400w but the specs list a larger core footprint for the XML.

Either way it's clear a step up from the 180s will have big marginal results.

Hey there..
If I may ask a few questions:
How big is the 920watt tent?
How many CFMs of exhaust fan running on it?
And the average temperature in there?
Thanks!

its 4x8'. I've just set up my exhaust for the season so its still in development. I just put a 420 CFM booster fan in between the 4x4 and the 4x8, on continuously.

In the 4x8 I have an 8" 750 cfm on a charcoal scrubber that blows into the room or out the window (by the window as of last night). I just put that on a temp-speed control.

In the room the tents are in is where I'm trying to 'mix' my air, I might end up porting it directly into the 4x4 though. I have a filter I made for pollen and bugs and whatnot for my other 750 CFM fan that suck air in from outside. That is controlled by a temp/humidity controller with the probe inside the tent.

So when the tent gets warm, the exhaust fan speeds up, and the room fan kicks on. The booster fan keeps the air circulating so that humidity doesn't stack up, something the temp-speed control didn't do at night.

So right now its been in the high 80's in the day, lights on at 10pm when its starting to cool off, but the house is usually still warm at that time. In summer it depends a lot on how hot it is outside, I just ordered an air conditioner for those really hot day. I'll see how it works.

In the winter I was getting ~63-83 with minimal fanning, now its 77-85 with multiple fans. I set it up last night and didn't have the 8" out fan hooked up so it got hot real quick, up to almost 90 in just a few minutes. The fans brought the temp back down to range quickly. I think the way I have the exhaust setup now its almost perfect.

Here's that filter:

they are in the one tent. I'm either going to swap three 100ds' out for a 400ds or try a light mover and see how that changes things.

You got me sold on Advanced Led as my next purchase I have 4 led lights from 3 different manufactors but ive always wanted to see what advanced could do ill be watching for sure:lurk:

I don't see myself buying any other brand at this time, after seeing what other brands can do, both from experience and what I've seen online, I'm dedicated to their lights. the 400ds is an amazing light.

oh, and if you buy any, make sure to drop my name, I'm working toward a discount via referrals.

Been experimenting with feeding, flushed before PK week, then just water for the last two and a half weeks instead of flushing like normal. The leaves are yellowing, which is a pretty good sign.

VERY NICE i thought I would check how far leds have come. Man proof is in the pictures no doubt about that. I will do research but are some leds more cost effective but still have the right power to do what you do so well PEACE

Chopped them on day 53 before I leave town for a few weeks. They were just beginning to make their second big push but they had to come down. I wanted to let them go another 2 weeks. Not sure the weight yet, I'll keep ya posted. the trim was 3.5 oz dry, the good leaf, no shade.
