Help picking a carbon filter

Need a little help. Wish I could just cruise around a grow store, and play *but that's not *happenin. *In my current setup I push thru a home made carbon filter, I want to buy a commercially made model but not sure which is best for me. I have a 6 inch growbright fan and prob will stick to a 6 inch. I want to be able to just stand that bad boy up, and sit the fan right IN to it. I also want one that I can open at some point and refill as opposed to buying all new. Any body got some advice for me ? Thank you all

It will end up getting moved by a mod at some point, but on the filter, I picked up a Can lite filter and it is kicking ass so far. My house used to reak, and we recently had the gf parents here(both nonsmokers), and they didn't smell anything. So can filters has my vote(they are a little on the steep side though).

I use Phresh and never had a problem...IMO get the biggest filter you can afford and that will fit in your space...I have found no matter what brand if you try and pull/push the "rated" CFM you will still smell a little skunk...I've always got a filter rated for 2x what my fans max rated CFM is...even more if I can fit it. If you want to justify the extra cost, besides light leaks, smell is the #1 reason for you getting caught and if your in a non med state what price do you want to put on your freedom?

Thanks for the replys guys! I def don't mind going bigger and I guess That would even be better for achieving what I actually am looking /asking for/about. Main goal is smell, but after using home made I do believe most commercial models will get that factor squared,.... So will a 6 in connect(standard) on my grobright sit in to the standard 6 phresh or can (size ?)...... And are those easy to open up and replace the carbon? Thank y'all*

youll get a ton of different opinions on which one is the best...but...
currently I am using a 6" phresh. and it does the job in my veg room.

as for refilling them...
simply take a drill and a stepper bit and drill 4-6 good sized holes in the cap. right in between the two layers that hold the carbon in its place, which you will see thats basically the outer layer and the very inner layer. most caps are riveted on, and is much easier to drill holes.

dump out the old carbon, refill with new activated carbon. plug the holes with rubber plugs. done deal. never have to buy an actual filter again.

Mine actually runs a little quieter with the fan hooked directly to the filter, and it just slid into the collar with no trouble at all. It(the filter) actually has a couple screws in the collar that prevent it from going in to far. As of right now the noisiest part of the whole setup is the air whirling through the flex duct, but until I put together a duct muffler, I have a king sized pillow wrapped around the end of the duct like a wind sock and that helps a lot.

hey Toast. If youre trying to reduce some noise try some insulated ducting. killer noise reducer and helps out a lot with dissipating heat.

I run a Can filter and there worth every penny. I have used cheaper ones before and lets just say you get what you pay for.

Buy the matching fan/filter combo of your favorite brand and maybe receive discounted pricing...I wouldn't intend on refilling it with carbon tho, it just never seems to work out perfectly well

Peace

I use an 8" Phresh Filter, its attached to a fan blowing at about 500cfm, it is overkill but in the long term I have had this filter going for two years now and no smell is detected at the exhaust. I will buy one again, I had in the past made my own but this is a good one.
