Day 100-48

Things are getting frosty. Still another 30 days of flower to go.

day100-48.jpg

The time for rigorous thrich inspection will soon come, looks like 3.5x magnification will suffice in that regard. I had thought of getting a microscope objective for more details, but it will not be necessary. This is a a macro shot of the plant photographed for the #day44 update. At 100% crop, you can see the details well enough.

Wow, that bud is already looking pretty far along - it looks like lots of cloudy and even a few amber, though sometimes the angle can be deceiving. Of course, I'm sure she can go a while longer, but I'm wondering if the UV bulbs speed up the trich maturation. Mine are still almost all clear with just a few cloudy.

Hey man! Thanks for dropping by again, I was hoping to hear about your girls. I know we flipped 12/12 at around the same time so it's a good comparison.

The first bud that looks far along has grown sideways because of how the branch came out of the scrog's netting, so the buds get uninterrupted access to the light with zero shade. That's why I included the second photo of another bud, which is more representative of the what most of the other colas look like.

Day 106-54

Draining the res today, will start using Overdrive, we'll see if it helps.

Yestersday I defoliated the canopy a little... I figured with 3 weeks left, removing any fan leaves that casts shade on buds should be removed since the penetration really sucks. On the left side of the canopy the branches grew taller than the right side. Some stems are 16 inches from the scrog to the tip, and the fan leaves prevented light from reaching the bottom part of these branches. I figured what little growth lost occurs from the loss of a fan leaf will be recouped by having more light.

About 3 weeks to go to harvest... finally!

Looks fantastic! I'm growing the pre 2000 Kali currently and it looks different for sure, very fat leaves early on in the life of your pheno. What does she smell like now?

I have a carbon filter scrubbing inside the tent, so I don't smell much. It's reminiscent of pine, imho.

I'll check out your journal!

Edit: I just checked your journal and goddamn, my fan leaves were nowhere near this big!

Mine dont have an much of an odor to speak of atm, but I know they finish up smelling spicy/fruity. By the sounds of it Kali has alot of gorgeous smelling pheno's, hope you're onto one!

I think maybe the big fan leaves have something to do with me using a MH, everything I grow around that thing grows fairly stocky, but at a steady pace

Day 109-57

The tall branches have finally started to fill out a week or so ago.

day109-57.jpg

These two measure 17 inches from the scrog to their tip. There are about half a dozen more like it on the periphery of the scrog.

wow, these look nice what kinds of smells are you getting?

So far, pungent pine odor when I do catch a whiff (mostly when i happen to be in the tent when the carbon filter isn't scrubbing).

Other thing I learned is to use gloves when manipulating the buds... the resin sticks to your hand like a bitch and it's hard to get off. :dance013:

Interesting that they smell like pine. Only one of mine kind of does, and it's more dominated by a cat-piss smell. The others are more floral soap / incense / fruit.

I went back to the tent and sniffed the buds real close since I really had not taken notice of the smell before you guys asked. I think they smell INCREDIBLE. Not like skunk (or cat piss) or any strong odor like I would have suspected. Granted I have 2 more weeks to go so I suppose the smell will accentuate, but it's pretty great.

First image that pops in my head upon smelling is pine, but there are spicy/citrusy undertones that I cannot properly identify. It's pungent, definitely not floral.

I'm also running lower rH until harvest (35-45% instead of the usual 60-65%).

Day 110-58

A look at the canopy today, and will be the last photo update for another 5 days.

day110-58.jpg

Would experienced growers describe this is as a "normal" looking canopy for scrogs? I think it's weird some colas are already fat and well developed (though shorter) while some branches are super tall and filling up slowly.

Do you have any sort of light leak? Some of you're cola's look off, like a few of mine did once when i had a light leak. Got stretched out cola's with strange single bladed leaves running all the way up, although some grew normally. The one's that had the single bladed leaves never bulked up like they should have...

Just an Idea ;)
