Mother plant

Need advice on this ;

The Mother plant which you take clones off will develop a strong stem , good strong root system and mature leaves , with age .

Does this mean that the Mother is an ideal candidate to flower ?

Do any of you decide to flower the mother plant (eventually) for those reasons ?

I wasn't a fan of flowering my mother plants. it really depends on your style of growing. didn't fit mine. I no longer keep moms around. just take clones off while ur pruning before flowering.

I think that this is a great idea. I have a brace of mothers that I am thinking
about doing this with eventually.

The only issue is that if you repeat this process, then your mother will weaken genetically
over time. In mycology we call this senescence.

One round will not hurt anything. Go for it! ;0)

I do this lots. It can add up to a much faster turn around as you don't have to wait for the clone to root, veg. I take clones just before I put into flower I take about three times as many as I need to. After I get clones I flip the switch on the mothers (which may have been clones themselves). This way while the clones are rooting and vegging over the next 8-15 weeks depending on strain I can be ready to use them as mothers for the next batch of clones. The only down side I have to this is if you have a major loss of clones, taking clones off of plants in flower will take longer to root and thus slowing my process.

Nah my mothers are too branchy and would be a PITA to trim up into a manageable flowering plant.
Every few months I prune all of the main branches back by half and also prune the roots to keep them in small pots, so they're some really dense bushes now.
They do have nice thick stems and roots, but bushes are too much work for flowering. I'd rather have more pots than bushy plants.

Even though I don't cut many clones, I still keep mothers because I only have one flowering room. The clones are not too happy 2 months later when they're still in shot glasses because I don't want them growing too much.

Devil I do about the same thing, take cuttings at the start of flowering. Works great for me. I use clonex and rapidrooters. Get well over 90%. That's how I get my next grow. Heck with all that popping seeds and sexing. Grow girls be happy to quote my boy Randy.

Usually try to take cuts to root before I flower, as I have some strains that i'd like to keep and not lose if none of the cuts work. Sometimes if I don't the room I will take cuts about a week or two into flowering while cleaning up the bottom
