Heavy 16 and ph rising...

In a drain to waste scenario you definitely don't want to bubble the res too much. Prime and fire have a lot of organics blended in so it's a good idea to have a little agitation and aeration to keep everything mixed and make sure things don't go anaerobic in there. The flip side is that the organic components (carbohydrdrates, kelp etc) are going to stimulate microbial activity which usually raises the pH. I've found with products like orca / great white this rise can easily get out of hand and shoot the ph from 5.6 to 7+ in a short time. Adding botanicare aqua shield or hydro guard definitely seems to keep fluctuations in check to where I'm only adjusting about once a week. And remember, a little fluctuation is good, especially when it's steady, hammering your plants from 7 to. 5.5 can really stress them out.

And just for the record, the scumbag that tried to put a hit out was only a rep for aptus, not the owner / creator. I've personally seen some pretty amazing results (can you say 2.9 a light?) with that line but have yet to try it for my self. Until then the jury is still out for this guy.
