Hi again fellow kiwis, I've got my first plant growing at the moment. Its been 6 days since the seed sprouted from the soil. Growing it under 4 23w CFLs at the moment but been bringing it out into the afternoon sun for the last couple of days. She (hopefully a she, was from a feminized seed) is a Seedsman White Widow.

I think it stretched a bit at first because for the first 3 days I only had 2 23w CFLs but seems to be doing better now. Should I just bury the stem a bit?

The first two leaves also look a bit mutant, however I think that is because I had my lights too close. What do others think?

If you can get to the WHS and acquire 12 litre or 18 litre enviro pot, is best or Pb 28 horc plastic bags at garden centers, good value I've been using for years with no root compaction, your current pot is to shallow for correct root growth.

I noticed immediately on your first photo, that you have fucked leaves, the distortion is not your fault, but the shitty attempts of the breeder using way to much Gibberellic Acid
so much that it's screwed right down into the genome.
Consider painting common kiwi pollen on a bud, come harvest day, may clear up on the next generation ??

(Gibberellic Acid --A hormone used to promote plant growth, especially that of seedlings, and obtained from the fungus Gibberella fujikoroi (GA) is used to reduce flowering and fruiting which maximizes growth and minimizes pollen transmitted. GA is also used in mature plants to increase the fruiting capacity by stimulating the development of lateral shoots and spurs.)

I intend to make a exceptional post on the affects of too much GA in a future post

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep an eye out for your post as it sounds interesting. I saved some seeds from some alright bud that I got a couple of weeks ago and I'm going to be using those for my next grow. Here is what my plant (well, plants now) is looking like. If the Kandy Kush turns out to be a male I'll probably save some pollen from it to make some more seeds.

Both my plants turned out to be female :) Younger one only just started showing some pistils today. Here are some pictures of the girls if anyone is interested haha.

Oh, and the ages are: White Widow (Day 15F (51T)) & Kandy Kush (Day 1F (27T)). Was meant to put that as a sort of title above the images, is there any way to edit posts on this forum?

Switched On Gardener boss sent to jail source link nzherald.co.nz

The owner of the Switched on Gardener chain of hydroponic supply shops has been sent to jail for four years and three months.

Michael Maurice Quinlan was last year convicted of possessing and supplying equipment to grow cannabis following a trial at the Auckland District Court.

The general manager of the business Peter Bennett was also convicted of similar charges and received a sentence of three years and nine months.

The pair were acquitted of the more serious charge of belonging to an organised criminal group.

Judge Gus Andree Wiltens sentenced the pair at Auckland District Court today.

The public gallery was crowded with supporters - some of whom had to stand.

As well as the sentence, Quinlan could still lose his million-dollar properties - one north of Auckland and the other in Queensland.

The Crown has filed papers in the High Court at Auckland to restrain the 53-year-old's $1.3 million home at Gulf Harbour, north of Auckland.

The property's official valuation describes the four-bedroom house as being in an "exclusive subdivision" known as Le Grande View.

With spectacular sea views and a "gourmet kitchen", it is billed as "a superior quality executive home".

Crown lawyers have also restrained his $1 million Queensland property that includes a spa pool and swimming pool.

A bank account in Quinlan's name holding A$189,352 has also been frozen, according to the court file released to APNZ.

Police affidavits show authorities went to great lengths to discover Quinlan's assets, including secretly downloading information from a cellphone belonging to Quinlan's wife as she passed through Customs.

Quinlan did not oppose his properties being restrained but in an affidavit filed with the court he said there was no "concession that the properties in question were in any way contributed to by criminal proceeds".

The applications date back to 2010 - soon after Quinlan was arrested as part of operation Lime.

During the police investigation, undercover police officers saw some staff members smoking cannabis, and others were willing to sell seedlings and the finished product.

More than 25 staff, including an area manager and the operations manager, have been convicted of drugs charges but the Crown said the drug offending went right to the top.

In a separate legal move, the Crown also sought to seize Quinlan's companies Hydroponic Wholesalers and Stoneware 91 - the supply and retail arms of Switched on Gardener.

The two companies were also convicted of drugs charges and have been fined $125,000 each.

The Crown said the companies were an integral part of Quinlan's offending. Quinlan is opposing the move.

The application - known as an "instrument forfeiture" - was made under the Sentencing Amendment Act. An asset can be forfeited if considered an "instrument of crime", although a judge can decline the application if the seizure would cause undue hardship to offenders or their families.

However, Judge Wiltens declined the application.

The Switched On Gardener business was born in the early 1990s when Quinlan and his brother opened the first store in the west Auckland suburb of Henderson.

From those modest beginnings sprang a business that eventually expanded nationwide with 16 stores and an annual turnover estimated to be $10 million. Switched on Gardener general manager Peter Bennett told the trial that up to 14,000 customers a month passed through its doors.

The court file shows that between November 2008 and July 2009 the turnover for Stoneware 91 alone was over $6.6 million.

Three Switched on Gardener employees were acquitted of all charges. They include business development manager Ricky Cochrane, distribution manager Andrew Mai and South Island manager Paul Barlow.

Interesting news

Stay safe and smart out there brothers.

Quick and easy 150 site bubble cloner using local materials

Put this together as an experiment and it turned out alright. Does the job and is cheap to build. You can never have enough clones IMO.

  • 20L Fish Bin with Lid - Bunnings Warehouse has the best selection.
  • Water resistant Draft Stop Tape
  • 2cm Spade Drill Bit
  • Neoprene Camping Mat - The Warehouse / Camping Supply store.
  • 2 pack of airstones with tubing - cheap from sog
  • 160 L/hr Air Pump - Sog/Pet stores

Drill the holes. You may want to measure them out first I winged it.

Add the draft stop lined up with the underside of the lid.

Cut the neoprene mat up to make your pucks.

My pucks were about 2x3cm -

Throw in the airstones and some tap water and your'e good to go.
