I cut a few random leafs off my PPP girls yesterday and spent 10 minutes looking at them under my USB microscope. I'm still finding what I believe are eggs.... Are they dead? Who knows? Not sure what a dead egg looks like? Can anyone describe what a dead egg looks like?

For the life of me I can't find a broad mite, dead or alive!!! PPP girls have really started growing the past few days, one in particular is growing like gang busters!!! Still seeing a few leafs growing a little funny but maybe still side affects of Forbid or BM toxin??? Its been around a week since my last heat treatment. Think I'll do another one tomorrow and then cut it back to once every 2 weeks.

Cut off a damaged looking leaf and inspect carefully. You should be seeing at least some dead mites. You have to look carefully. There may not be many of them. Don't overdo it on such small plants. Use aspirin.

I'll cut a couple more leafs off tomorrow and look again. But saw nothing today ....

Gunna do another heat treatment tomorrow just in case. Gotta stay on top of these little fuckers!!!! Hoping afterwards once every 2 weeks will suffice stopping heat treatments after week 4 of flower.....?

Going on 4 days since heat treatment and no sign of crawlers. I'm going to stick with one heat treatment and see how it goes. Been on aspirin for some time-thanks. Will report in a few weeks.....

One footnote.....if you are using translaminar miticide be weary of the heat treatment. Plants that were recently sprayed did not do so well, understandably so. :)

Maybe this is why my PPP seedlings aren't doing so well? Funny though my Kush clones got same miticides and they look just fine!!

I think I'm still seeing eggs if thats what they are on my PPP seedlings???? But fuck if I could find a live or dead BM???? Cut 3 leafs off today and spent 15 minutes looking them over, not one!!! Not sure if I should do another heat treatment tonight or what?? Also my largest PPP plant is not looking healthy past 2 days. Pale in color, droopy. Will snap some pics of her an get your guys opinion.

I have been using swirskii mite sachets with great effect. They are about the size and shape of a tea bag and contain eggs and predatory mites in all growth stages. They provide protection for 6 weeks.

I have them spread throughout my crop, when I detect an outbreak of broad mites I move as many as possible to that area. Couple days later healthy new growth pushes through.

Big infestations will require large populations of predators to cure the problem, but as a preventative these sachets should work for most people, along with constant vigilance!

Heat Source

Hello,

I just read the last 30 pages or so and could not find any mention of which electric space heaters people are using. All the space heaters I currently own seem to turn off before reaching 100F. Which space heaters do not have this automatic turn off? I was considering using hair dryers?

Also,

Has anyone done this with the propane heaters yet? I have a detached garage so no worry of CO poisoning. I am worried that at 120+F the propane tank's release valve may be opened resulting in an explosion. Maybe the tank coule be place partially submerged in water to manage the internal pressure.

Maybe rather use the predator mites I would hate to see you riding a propane tank on your way through the stratosphere!

I did it with a propane heater. There was no plants in the room though. Within 30 minutes of heating the room co2 was up to 11,000 ppm !!!!

Propane tanks can take a serious amount of heat!!! I've seen them thrown directly into fire and swell to double there size and still not blow up!!!

I think there is a huge misconception about Broad mites. Let me put in simple terms. After a broad mite feeds the toxin will start to affect the plant these affects will continue for two to three weeks or longer. So for some time after treating with whatever and see new growth or more important "Don't see an improvement" can be very misleading. Just a little tip from "Some old dude'.:tiphat:

And this is exactly why you use aspirin when broad mites attack. The aspirin mitigates the effects of the toxins by boosting plants immune system. Continue aspirin throughout the grow, regardless of symptoms. Even if plants look fine, continue with aspirin.
Before I knew my problem was BMs, my seedlings would start drooping and showing symptoms @ the two week mark. As soon as I dosed them with aspirin, they would perk up overnight and look normal the next day.
I always keep aspirin in the rez now regardless of situation. It helps against many things that attack plants.

Hahahahaha!!! Wasn't me. Some knob at a fire pit in the bush. I was there dude threw a tank in the fire!!! I walked away and came back hours later to find the fire out and tank swollen like a ballon!!!!! I've heard of them blowing up doing this as well but that's to be expected!!!

Tanks like these as well as co2 tanks are designed to withstand extreme stupidity!!!!! like I said you could bring your room up to 200 degree with no issues. I leave my co2 tank in the room as well when doing heat treatments. Pressure in the tank goes from 1000psi to 1500psi. No biggy. Those tanks are made to withstand 4000+psi!!!!
