Fry's electronics

I work a few minutes away from Fry's I was thinking they might have it for cleaning computer chips but wasn't sure.
The pharmacy at the hospital I work at doesnt even sell it.

Thanks I will check Fry's tomorrow.

I've actually seen it at safeway in SF and was hella surprised...
I can confirm there is a bottle of 99% iso safeway brand in my watercloset cabinet. It was gifted to me when my mom moved, no telling where or when she picked it up.

Please don't use ISO.

Lump the extra $$ and get ethanol. Your body will thank you, even if you can't tell.

I know I can.

:thank you:

safeway carries 99% iso in all their stores

I am almost 100% certain I read here on icmag in another thread that the '99% iso' sold at safeway / walgreens was not actually 99% but more like 90% or something, not at all safe to use.

Do more research before going through with it.

Just to let people know I recently made some oil with the Safeway 99%.

All I can say is that I'm not using this anymore! This stuff is having a real bad effect on my lungs, real bad!Coughing, itching and pain in my lungs. This was from just a couple of sesh's.

This also ac cured the last time I made it.

Looked good,tasted good,but no bueno.

Next time, going with maybe something that's made to be consumed.

I suggest that to be urban myth, as it would be illegal for Safeway to sell 90% iso for 99% and there is no compelling reason for them to lie and cheat on that subject.

Call it what you want, I will NEVER use iso from safeway to make things for CONSUMPTION due to what I have read about it here(Over 3 years ago)

You can feel free to make poison.

That seems a little harsh, since we both know that folks have said all sorts of things on this forum over the last three years, not all of it true.

What exactly did you read was in the Safeway brand 99% beside alcohol and water?

Lets get this back on topic.. .

I like www.markertek.com. A gallon of 99.98% clean room grade ISO is around thirty bucks shipped (I live in CA, they ship from FL I believe?) takes about 7days, good clean ISO.

I find that in CA it is not actually that easy to source anything larger than a pint, and then it's over priced.

This is from the Wikipedia entry on rubbing alcohol. Obviously this won't apply to 99.98% industrial purposed ISO.

Legislation

In the USA, rubbing alcohol, USP and all preparations coming under the classification of Rubbing Alcohols (defined as those containing ethanol) must be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the US Treasury Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, using Formula 23-H (8 parts by volume of acetone, 1.5 parts by volume of methyl isobutyl ketone, and 100 parts by volume of ethyl alcohol). It contains 97.5-100% by volume of absolute ethyl alcohol. The rest consists of water and the denaturants, with or without color additives, and perfume oils. Rubbing Alcohol contains in each 100 mL not less than 355 mg of sucrose octaacetate or not less than 1.40 mg of denatonium benzoate. The preparation may be colored with one or more color additives. A suitable stabilizer may also be added.[4]
