Noobin up a PPK

wierd : all the 3-1-4 or similar nutes are all labeled for grow/veg not bloom
i can get the Flairform GreenDream 1 part easily enough and thats 3-1-5 but its grow/veg stage
Flairform also have calmag and a humic/fulvic/vitamins/kelp/etc organic all in one goodie bag too, very interesting

i can also get some powdered stuff thats 24-6-31, which is almost 8x 3-1-4. I cant find much about the micros in it tho. (SUPERIOR BLEND A&B 2 PART by Westend Hydroponics)

are you sure this is what im after? I just bought 3 bags of maxibloom last week too :(

Don't feel too bad Dave. I just bought 16lbs of maxibloom about a month or 2 ago... but if D9 says Jack's is really that much better... I'll buy 16lbs of that and use the maxibloom on my veggies and flowers... Lawn fertilizer... lol

edit: jack's is cheap! 25lbs for $51.21 shipped...

We've just sent you an email confirming your order.

My 25lbs of Jack's is on the way Dave, where's yours, bitch? :moon: :biglaugh:

Ichabod gave me a bunch of Jack's and cal/nit to try out a while back... and I had good results using it on my veg plants... I've been out and decided to try maxibloom... and I'm noticing that my plants aren't as dark as they were with the jack's and they're going yellow sooner in flower...

So I think this D9 character may be on to something...

ive already looked into jacks.
they wont ship outside USA/Canada
and ive already gotten warning letters from border control for importing ferts
im now on the watch list :(

EDIT : wouldnt 21-5-20 PLUS calnit make it closer to a 4-1-3 ratio rather than a 3-1-4 ratio?

Wait till you run a PPK. It will expose every nute deficency that you have due to insane grow speeds. Shit i get away with in blumats (low ca, mg, N) all showed up in the PPK. The things a beast (in a really good way) and you have to feed it well.

hey, dave! this plus some epsom salts and your maxibloom will rock it! try 750 ppm or maxibloom, 50ppm epsom, and 100 ppm calcinit, in that order.

the fert you showed above, the 4-1-4 formula, is still too light on calcium and magnesium and you would have to supplement anyway. but other than that it looks good.

hey, bobble, you are aware that the bag you show is intended for peat and drain to waste? it has a lot of ammonium in it and is not intended for recirculation.

just checking.

no I wasn't aware... ooops... I'll have to call those nice people in the morning and get the right one or cancel the order. I suppose I should have done a search to make sure I got the right one instead of assuming.

After searching... I'm still not finding what the right jack's professional is...

So Mr. D9... After shitting in my kool-aid... could you please link me to the correct fertilizer? Thanks.

:tiphat:

nvm I found it

I picked up the jack's and cal/nit combo from Jr Peters website.

I have Jack's and Cal/Nit on the way... Now what Dave... Just teasing. I remember about the package that was intercepted. I would hate for you to get pulled down to the station for a chat about your 25lb bags of fertilizer.

as long as its a chat (about fertilizer) in the station and not in my house i think i would be ok :)

Now I have to order Jack's before Bobble shows up in my thread and calls me out.

Nothing but love for my homies...

not to mention I live in a distorted reality where I can throw around $100 here and there w/o too much worry... further detaching me from my peers...

but fuck it... here I am.

So I cant sleep and im awake in bed thinking at 3:30 am.
I have a brilliant idea to solve all my issues re nutes.
I jump onto the computer and what do i see but a PM from my good mate SRGB
Great minds think alike here, and what does he say but :
prodimg_maxiseries_maxigro_01.png

Mix it 50/50 or use it straight.
I have a big ole bag of this collecting dust and another half open thats feeding the garden lawn and plants.
It saves me buying anything else as its to hand.

The mans a Legend.

not a bad quick fix! i would use it straight up to the end of stretch then switch back over. i read the label and it has 2% magnesium so you will probably have to throw a little epsom in there.

around ec 2 because it is still a little light on nitrogen relatively and the plant is hungry and needs a cheeseburger.

its perpetual so theres no switching back over. I use A or I use B.

Can i pre mix dry nutes? Can i put 50g weight epsoms into 750g weight powdered nutes? If so why doesnt Jacks come with the calnit already in it?

looking at the formulas i don't think there is anything to gain by mixing them but i think the maxigro will do better. gh subscribes to the high P myth and all their earlier formulas were done without tissue analysis which means that neither one is correct.

in your current situation i would go with the gro but be looking for an alternative for next time or full time use.

both Haifa chemicals and Yara Liva have outlets in Australia. i use yara calcinit because i can get it cheap nearby. both manufacture high quality hydroponic ferts that are designed for pro greenhouse use.

you can pre-mix dry nutes but i wouldn't do it. it's one of those things that should be examined for potential damage. you are more likely to be accurate and less likely to damage the plant using an ec meter. uneven mixtures come to mind first.

water is the catalyst for all dry nutes but some are more sensitive to plain old moisture than others. high moisture content causes reactions between calcium and magnesium, for instance. this is why most pro formulas are 2 part. they can't interact if they are separate.

there is also the need to consider how you base decisions on plants needs. assuming a balanced product, how do you decide on ec?

most pros use perceived nitrogen needs as a barometer. knowing they have a balanced product they spin it all off nitrogen. everything else falls into place.

while i'm writing this i started thinking about flora micro and i believe that's your best route for now.

it is 5-0-1 with another 5 for calcium. that makes it calcium nitrate or pretty close.

use this with the maxibloom as it has more magnesium (3.5%) than the gro formula.

for dose i think a base of ec 1.2 maxibloom and about .6 micro should do nicely.

there is no P in the micro and very little K.

so what im getting really is that either :
1) maxibloom plus micro
2) maxigrow plus epsoms
3) a real nute that i have to source somewhere (Haifa chemicals or Yara Liva)

i have tons of maxigrow and maxibloom here already so im thinking of doing a bit of 1) and a bit of 2). Epsoms i can get easily, micro slightly less easily. While i can afford to ditch both and buy a ton of industrial goodness, there isnt really any need to. What i have decided to do is ditch the sugary GH products (CaMg+ and FloraNectar) as they are shit.

Hey D9 :
ive got a friend that swears by a local brand called Flower Power. The grow is
2.5-0.5-3.5 with 1.8-0.6 in Ca-Mg
wierd numbers but how does that sound to you?
