H3ad goes Coco

Greetings -

I am just finishing up my 2nd and 3rd bagseed test grows indoor with 50/50/coco/perlite substrate and have a few plants left to flower.

Smoke has been good but not high yields at all, I'm struggling to find the right feeding schedule and genetics suck...

I currently have 1 plant per 8.4l bag, I am aiming for for a SOG with 3 clones per bag.

My questions: How often should I feed this 6/9 mix?
Is 2ml of CalMag per 1.5l enough for my substrate mix?
What mix and how often do I feed rooting clones?

I have an order of quality seeds on the way and I don't want to screw them up!

And is the general consensus to water daily for a week with straight RO after first set of leaves appear and then switch to 1/4 strength? (Seedlings)

Are people liking 6/9 with 1g of epsom or are we doing 6/12 with 1/4g of epsom? Kinda confused. I'm getting 150ppm out of the tap and running mainly sativa doms, but I got one OG in there. Some people are also going pretty low on there ec. Is 1.2ec still good for either of the two ratios I listed above?

Where did the masses of posts go ?

I have noted down that there were at least 530 posts in this thread.

HELP!!

Grat3fulh3ad .....

Much thanks for your thread man. running some 2 gal
pots of coco with a Sweet Cindy, Lapis Mnt. Indica and two LMI x PPP crosses that I did myself. All are looking great. Was using Maxibloom last cpl of rounds but your formula seems so much easier.

6/9 every watering, twice a day whether they need it or not.

I have to echo this , I'm running ak48 and Holy Grail Kush in 5 gal smartpots I water once a day until runoff, and the girls are absolutely loving it.

I've been growing these 2 strains for the last year and a half and a couple of months back I found this thread and decided to give the method a shot. I am stunned by the results.

My tap water is really clean @50ppm . I give them 6/9 with a pinch of epsom and adjust to 5.8, and as I said, I water every day until runoff. 1 month into flower, my plants are looking the best they ever have, perfectly nice and green without a hint of any type of deficiency.... and I am shocked at how fast they are gaining weight.

Mr H3ad, you are the man, thanks for sharing this.

I'm growing in low light conditions (250w mh & 220w conversion bulb) with maxibloom in coco. I'm seeing slight burning on the tips, but I was using 7g/gal. If I used like 5g/gal instead would this correct the issue?

I was seeing what I suspected to be a K def in my plants (was wrong) and I upped my bubblegum to 6/12 1/4g epsom from 6/9 1g epsom. It was actually a cal def and the excess K did what it was supposed to do and that is it increased the rate of the interveinal rusting through the lock out of cal. 6/12 1/4g epsom isn't necessarily the way to go for all strains. I'm going to have to flush and drop back to 6/9. Hopefully they get better. BTW I use tap at a little less than 150 ppms. Total EC after I mixed was 1.5 so its not like I was burning them up or anything. They genuinely did not like the excess P/K.

I'm back on 6/9 1g epsom and the plants are doing fine at 1.4ec, 5.8pH. I'm running sativa, indica, and mix and all are doing much better. Imo, I'd look at other factors if plants are showing deficiencies with a 6/9 1g regimen. Water quality, temps (water and air), humidity, etc. Excess potassium=calcium deficiency through a lockout in this current run I'm doing. Another important thing to note is that I always need to feed them. Any lapse in feeding makes them unhappy. This regimen is perfect for blumats, which I love.

Looks like the starter of this thread dropped out a while ago. Too bad.

Some missunderstood her first post.

So... when I was using a modified lucas formula... my nutrient profile when growing in promix was:
N 130
P 93
K 163
Mg 64
S 43
Ca 130

By mixing 8ml/gal micro and 14ml/gal bloom and watering with plain water every other watering...

WHen she was using the lucas formula in promix, she watered with plain water every other watering, but in coco, she fed every time she watered.

Maybe someone can help me understand this.

In the coco, I am now using 6ml/gal micro and 9ml/gal bloom which gives the nute profile:
N 97
P 60
K 105
Mg 41
S 27
Ca 97

How did the OP get 105ppm of K? She adds 6mL of micro and 9mL of bloom.

So that is less percent of k than p, yet her ppms shows more k than p?

If you look at the percent on the bottles.

Micro is 5-0-1
Bloom is 0-5-4

So 6mL of 5 = 30
9mL of p, 5 = 45
6mL of k 1 = 6, plus 9ml of k4x9=36+6=42

30-45-42

How does that work out to more ppm for k than p?

Does K raise ppms more than P, if so how much so? I am wondering how to convert the 30-45-42 to the ppm she has

97-60-105

Because I am using lukas, 8ml 16ml which is

40-80-72. How do I translate that to ppm per gallon? When I check it at half strength in a gallon with my ppm meter, it is about 600, but I have no clue as to how to calculate how many ppms of each thing mg, s, n, p, etc are in that 600ppms.

Hello weve had great success with the 6 9 method with a number of strains in the past, now a friend is doing kandy kush and 21 days in the plants just dont look right, in the sick plants thread it looks like a cal problem. we do use hard water micro....but never had a issue until this strain..... should he supplement cal mag again?

You know a formula is good when so many people use it and there's hardly ever a complaint here. This place has diedddddddddddddd!! Is there nothing to be improved upon here?
