so I had some bullshit happen yesterday... I ordered a small sample bottle of gravity of ebay... the package got held up in detriot for a few days and yesterday I get a certified letter to my house (no grow here atm)..
the letter said they had flagged a package addressed to me as probably containing controlled substances... (aka drugs) and that they were keeping the package but if I wanted to claim it to call them...
the wierd thing is the package was delivered along with the letter... and it only contained the gravity i ordered.. wtf?
its funny cause I know units are shipped thru on the regular.. and they are busting my balls about a package with no contraband?
Im thinking it must be some kind of error.. why send the letter saying they are confiscating the package... but then send the package out in the same day.

i guess its not as interesting as a made up story about narco cops doing a knock n talk n stealing trash cans and surveilling someone for 3 years... but at least this actually happened.

Maybe the stoner who packaged the gravity has some weedy fingers. Caused your package to get hit on by the dogs and held, which triggered the letter to be sent out.

Once they determined that it wasnt contraband.. they allowed it on its way.

Pretty odd though.

Hmm i thought a warrant was needed too have dogs sniff packages.

I don't believe that is the case.

A package in their facility..pretty sure they can and do occasional run dogs across them... they've got sniffing dogs in some areas/hubs and a division solely focused on locating contraband.

They might need a warrant + postmaster present when opening said package (if it's 1st class mail), but if the dog hits on a box 1st indicating that there are drugs inside, that there is their probable cause to obtain a warrant and proceed further.

No evidence that the package had been opened and then re-sealed?

I wonder if you're now on a list because of this? And would trying to get such a thing straightened out only make matters worse?

Exactly what I was thinking.

This is a strange circumstance.... I'd like to see what other folks have to say about this.

Are you 100% certain that the package they sent the letter regarding was about the bottle of Gravity? As in, did the letter say anymore than just "we flagged a package and we are keeping it etc." or did it have details? I'm not implying you actually had "contraband" being shipped to you and you just forgot about it, haha, just curious if maybe it's coincidence. Since obviously a bottle of Gravity is not contraband.

Like another member said, maybe the fella that packed your sample bottle had some sticky fingers. That would really be somewhat of a logical explaination. But the fact that you got the package AND letter at the same time is bizzare. Anything strange about the package?

So the letter wasn't attached to the package? It just was delivered to you the same day? So really you aren't certain the two are truly associated?

Are you missing a seed order?

Yes the letter was about the package w/ the gravity in it.. The letter had the same return addy on it.. N it was the only thing I was expecting..
Plus the package did appeared to have been opened n re taped.. Really strange, unless they sent the letter out, then got a warrant or permission to open from the shipper n determined there was no drugs n sent it on its way.. At least that's what I'm hoping..

The letter had the same return address as the package? I assume the letter was sent by the postal inspector and had the appropriate return address. So a new return address (postal inspector) was applied to the package over the original from the e-bay retailer?

I mean the letter referenced the package by its return addy (as in we r confiscating a package addresed to u.. With this ........ Return addy on it.. Same addy as the package of gravity that showed up with the letter... USPS postal inspectors suck at their job, seriously

Here's a thought:

Maybe the people that you bought the Gravity from are under investigation for shipping "contraband", aside from their ebay business, and they are screening all of their packages?

I don't know the legality of searching every, or random packages they send, but i wouldn't put shady and unlawful tactics passed the feds and USPS. Or if they ARE being investigated for doing more than selling bottled nutes, they may have a green light to do so?

Either this, or just straight up incompetence like others have said.

Was it "discreet" shipping, or did it have "hydro" and/or "indoor growing" painted all over the package? If so maybe some dumbass postal worker saw that, wanted to be a hero and thought that "MUST be drugs!"

Just throwin' some thoughts out there...

The postmaster ran out of his supply and is now using yours, while being a prick telling you, to finish up his cycle.
