the "real" landrace debate

I can't find the original post, but several years ago here in a similar discussion someone posted that in the nineteen twenties - early thirties, American pharmaceutical companies brought bulk seed over from Indonesia/Borneo (OP mentioned a city in Borneo) to establish plantations in Central America. With prohibition these plantations were abandoned but the plants and their genetics remained.

On the other topic, yeah the Beringia land bridge is referred to as the Mammoth Steppes. It was thought to be a grass covered windswept flatland barely above sea level. Dry and cold with no glaciation to speak of. People crossing here were hunter-gatherers with no concept of agriculture who were generations away from their future ancestors living in a region that could support agriculture were anyone to even think of the idea.

“Marijuana arrived in Colombia thanks to the aid of the USA in 1930. Seven years before the USA made Marijuana illegal.. In 1930 the department of agriculture of the United States (USDA) created a project to promote the different uses of marijuana. United States knew that marijuana had immense medicinal potential and industrial. The USA did not want to use American lands so they decided to go to Colombia to develop the project. The Marijuana utilized for this project was brought from The Island of Borneo. Borneo and Colombia are very similar countries in question of environment. Both countries are situated in tropical rainy forests, the perfect environment to grow Marijuana and for this reason the USA chose Colombia for the project. Colombia is a very tropical country. In 1937 the USA made Marijauna illegal. The projects were canceled. The gringos that were working in Colombia on the project had to return but they never destroyed the plants. They left the ones that were working with in Colombia.”

Isen´t that the same saying that, "now we found these arrows heads that means that first Americans was from Greenland, aka siberian area," Well they could also have come by boats. Not to be an ass but that statement reminds of me of some sciencetist from 1800 . But interesting info you got, but i don´t think i proves that then hemp is introduced. :tiphat:

Greenland's population comes from Siberia, but immigrated from Canada. There are immigrant people to Greenland from Canada many times. The people who Greenlanders comes from, immigrated first time around. 1000 BC The last immigration came about. 140 years ago. Directly translated from danish to english.
So it is a mix between, hope it helps.

Please, do not mix this topics with staments like that, : your ignorance is mind boggling I dosen´t belong here. I accept that you have another opinion than me, but i dosen´t accept lack of respect, end of that discussion ... back on track.

the first Inuit tribes migrated across the Bering Strait to Alaska and on to the northern Canadian islands, which they probably around the year 2500 BC in good climatic periods migrated across the narrow strait to the Inglefield Land in Northeast Greenland. This culture called Independence I culture. [10] Independence I culture lasted until about 1300 BCE [11] wiki .dk.

I might have said earlier that they could have been comming this way in. I don´t know for sure, but I they could still have been making some "trade " with the "old" natives, and by that given them seeds. So I think it still could be possible :) cheers.

you guys are kidding yourself if you think american indians would have hemp but no rope/seed/anything documenting they had it before columbus... they didnt

if the natives had hemp they would have worn more clothes.

Quite so jayajayfrank!

It seems that for some people on this board, the fact that Amerindians did not have cannabis, did not eat cannabis, did not use cannabis for fabric, did not smoke cannabis (and this in a culture where they knew tobacco!), in fact did not know the first thing about cannabis, nor is there ANY, not even the slightest evidence of any presence of cannabis in the Americas (not in the North, South, East or West), not in graves, not in archaeological digs, not in lore, not bleeding anywhere; nada, zilch, nothing, absolutely bugger-all before the arrival of Europeans ...
- well for some people this is interpreted as evidence that they must have had some really good ganja - boy they did a good job hiding it. Sigh....

What more can one say....

So her we go again. This thread have som quite nice info after all, but now I ask again, could we just try to keep a nice tone when we have this debate, to me it very sad to withness this kind of ego expression of " Mr. know-it-all". I guess Gert is adressing the above comment to me, and a few others, but give us some source instead of just say do a stream of faqs, that could we right but also wrong. It´s likely that cannabis didn´t inter America before the gringos came, but please give me some evidence so I cant look i through. Cheers. :)

Marijuana in the New World

The first definite record of the marijuana plant in the New World dates from 1545 A.D., when the Spaniards introduced it into Chile. 1 It has been suggested, however, that African slaves familiar with marijuana as an intoxicant and medicine brought the seeds with them to Brazil even earlier in the sixteenth century. 2

There is no record that the Pilgrims brought marijuana with them to Plymouth but the Jamestown settlers did bring the plant to Virginia in 1611, and cultivated it for its fiber. 3 Marijuana was introduced into New England in 1629. 4 From then until after the Civil War, the marijuana plant was a major crop in North America, and played an important role in both colonial and national economic policy. In 1762, "Virginia awarded bounties for hemp culture and manufacture, and imposed penalties upon those who did not produce it." 5

George Washington was growing hemp at Mount Vernon three years later–– presumably for its fiber, though it has been argued that Washington was also concerned to increase the medicinal or intoxicating potency of his marijuana plants. *

The onus is on you to provide evidence saying as your the one making outlandish claims that go against the current theory's and evidence ,and people are not being know it all's its just anyone with the slightest knowledge of the subject can see you have not got a clue what your talking about and you have not posted a shred of evidence to back up your wacky ideas :)

incredible! how this rhetoric still is present... please upload those link you are asking my for, please do it... I did however posted info from a homepage on the the first immigration (this was earlier). When it comes to the idea on the cannabis plant present before Columbus came by, it was just an idea I have never mention to claim that it was the truth , but still some of you are repeats youself again and agian etc. This is killing this post totally, and that´s a shame. But anywhy could you share non-wacky evidence as you claim you are the possesing, cause it seems to me until now your are just spreding bad karma and not contribute to this topic.

Peace. :)
