What would YOU do? Flower room lighting

my buddy has about a 7x7 bloom room and currently has an old 1000w with a magnetic ballast and a 600w with a digital ballast. Soon 16 plants will go in after they have been vegged and topped multiple times for about 6 weeks.

He want to keep the same amount of watts used. Would it be better to keep his setup the way it is or I could lend him my 3 identical 600's and he could run 4x 400w lights all on digital ballats???

Any comments would be great

:thank you:

Basically Im trying to talk him into the 4 400's because I think it could yield more compared to the 1000w and 600w. I also think it would be easier to manage temps and it you could evenly saturate the canopy with light

do 3 600watters. it will be better then the 400s.

I agree with this , bigger bulbs penetrate better, which will give to better bud on the bottoms of plants. 600w is better than 400w, and 1000w best yet. The digital ballast are much better though, I might forget about that old 1000 magnetic you guys have.
Also, if the 7x7 room is totally full I would run something more like 2500w total. 50 watts per square foot is a great starting point, as long as temperatures dont get crazy. Keep the ballasts outside the room if possible.

7 x 7 = 49 sq ft
49 x 50 watts per sq ft (say 50 as a minimum! I shoot for 55 or 60)
= 2450 watts minimum
more watts = more grams -as long as temps are good

Just what I'd do, whatever you guys decide good luck and happy growing!
