Thinking of trying my hand at crossing gdp phantom cookies x cv purpleberry. Nothing to serious just for a bit of fun and to gain some new skills

maybe the phantom cookies would bring more of a high to the purpleberry

i grew the pupleberry, it just wasnt strong enough for me personally

This is an F1 Russian rocketfuel x Kush van stitch cross i made and the seeds growing in it are from Afghan Kush Special pollen from a female turned male using colloidal silver. This is the very beginning of my strain that will be named "ERK" or Evol Rocket Kush.

I find it interesting that some of the strains that are "THE FIRE" now are something that I feel my plants have accidentally made before through fem/herm random pollination. Take Girl Scout Cookie for instance... all the genetic basic ingredients for the strain I have had present in my gardens over the years. I mean really the core genes for a lot of strains are very similar. Anyway, about three years ago I popped some old Afghan seeds that came from a fem/herm knock up of who knows what. Out of all the crop of seeds that grow one was very different in taste from the usual Afghan. It tasted straight up like sweet chocolate mint, totally York Peppermint Patty. Sucks that I cloned nothing from that thinking the crop was just boring Afghan. D'OH!
It was a one time thing that I never shared or sold, but for the similar possible root genes it could have been my (totally random) version of GSC.
I have never bought seeds, and have not had to purchase smoke since I was a young adult. The genetics I run are all from a friend who has been "mastering" strains and making fems for over a decade. The original genetics heavy in my "seed lottery" are Blueberry, Flo, Straight Diesel, Sour Diesel, Silver Haze, NL5/Haze, Afghan, g-13/Hashplant, and there are plenty more strains he used before I met him.
Over the years from his crosses combined with plenty of random natural fem/herm crosses, all the seeds I pop come from this. Over the years I have been shocked by the diversity in flavor profile that has came from these random beans. I once had a sweet grape/cream cheese flavored plant, and I wouldn't for the life of me think that a flavor like that could come from boring strains (or what was to me at the time). Sadly I was a horrible cloner at the time and none of those random gems are still around. I do still have plenty of mystery beans to pop, and I am not saying that every bean is a winner.... Nooooooooo.... No not at all. However, in theory by chance I could still have a bean similar to one of them. Or any strain for that matter with that base core root of genetics. Like the Afghan, Old School Blueberry straight from DJ, Sensi seeds stuff you know? So many strains share the same basic roots.
Over the years I have neglected the stock pile of mystery beans, just popping some here and there. But lately, I have a new interest in them and question if any of them are the keys to something magnificent. I have always been very lucky...

I freaked when I saw the second pic here... it looked so familiar I thought it was one of mine....then saw it was you...LOL Seedsman's Purple Bud X WOS AKLR. This one so far is not real smelly, but the cross I made between the AK and some Bhutanese Sat smells heavenly.... You are going ot come up w/ some really good stuff if you keep at it, it's just a matter of time, however you may want to read through some of Tom Hills suggestions on using selfing to speed the process along. It made good sense to me... I think it was in the "everyone's a breeder" thread. Go to about the second or third to last page and you should see it... There's also a lot of shit in that thread that you would be better off not reading, but there is good info there, without a doubt.

I am all about selfing. I have been using clones and colloidal silver since I first heard of cs. Until cs came alone i never selfed because I don't believe in breedig with hermies

I hear this, I have had similar experiences and I feel the same.
I found an old skunk#1 / Lebanese hybrid line with crazy variation in flavours and buzz in the second gen.
Mostly it seems to come from a liberated sativa influence in the hybrid which somehow keeps spooling out new flavours and bud forms from very little obvious source, like bubbles from a wand.

Or like mammalian antibodies generated from a small DNA repetitive region which gets randomly stuttered when it's copied/transcribed.

I love variation
uniformity is for other people.
