As someone whose never been particularly enamored with most of them, there is some value there for sure, some are heart-thumping pacing back n forth thinking mans herb. But more, it's a sandbox playground bad acid trip to watch us collectively do the same thing over and over again from sk1 to NL to widow to bla bla bla. Use it up till we puke, then spit it out, throw it in the corner without ever realizing its overall worth and all that the term entails.

I also think your opinion depends on where you live...East coast is flooded with Kush

West coast is different story,,,way more varieties being grown

I'm on the east coast and I'm sorry, but almost everything is kush, whether its kush or not. I cannot speak on NY, but from about delaware on down, its kush. that's all anyone wants, thats all they rap about, and If you have a cali source that you trust who gets dispensary tree, he gets kush. some variety. The blue dream haze is popular, but 2 steps from the source, it becomes kush. i havent seen a sour or ak or diesel in almost 2 years, and that was gone in a flash. The sellers are not interested in paying top shelf prices and adding a plane ticket, when they can just buy whatever BS and sling it because most are strain ignorant, and many purposely so. Theres nothing like having some really exotic stuff, trying to explain to someone exactly what it is, and them say "who cares, just roll that shit up. or better yet "I only smoke that female shit with the crystals." heard it more than once.....

Benjamin Check....this is my experience and I am a seasoned smoker..Honestly i need to edit my OP...i see the amazing potential for the medicinal qualities of the KUSHES but it has just taken over in such a way that it is literally the only thing most people smoke these days..its funny cause when i visited Amsterdam back in the 90's and that was all HAZED OUT...so every friggin strain was crossed with HAZE..or some sort of haze,,,I thought that is what was gonna happen to things in North America.,,but the opposite happened

We got these once in a lifetime genetics found in a bag of weed at a Dead Show..lol what a story...and that started it all

It's very interesting how things have turned out..again just observations...

I often smoke with the glass bowl crowd. 2-3 puffs and your wasted. The mind just goes blank. Then I visit my black friends who roll up a fat joint and we pass it around. It usually goes out BEFORE it done. We so busy laughing and talking that we forget all about it. Guess that's why I like growing my own. The taste and the giggle level can be controlled by me.

I think this is less about the plants and the real issue is kush has be come a catch phrase by ignorant smokers and dealers.

Only growers know whats really going on, and even then most growers probably don't have a clue either, so that leaves a very small percentage of people involved that actually know whats what.

East coast-ish over here.

Don't hear much about Kush over here, but I don't hang around with "dealers" and idiots who just like saying buzz names.

We call it what it is and much of what is "hot" or desired here locally is not what the hype is out west although the few I know growing Bubba (pre-98) don't do it because its "kush", they grow it because its great cannabis.

I get what the OP is saying, and there will always be buzz words which flood the industry..maybe somewhat limiting the variety (type of high) of those ignorant, but if real KUSH genetics are what is hot and selling, then its because..that is what people are wanting. Otherwise the markets would reject and demand/price would go down in favor of the "non cash crop" varieties. The market sets the demand.. not the growers in most instances.

..with the exception of export folks, etc growing whatever the hell they can make the most from and send east to amaze those ignorant to good weed...and in that case...who cares. It doesn't effect us whatsoever. You can call your local whatever you want around here.. but if it's not quality it doesn't matter what it's called. Sure.. the CA outdoor "blue" whatever or "kush" that gets bought up and enjoyed, but why would I care?

I just don't understand why it matters?

All of my friends "hype" Budweiser. I choose to partake in another variety because I prefer the way it effects vs. their mainstream piss water.

It's ok to drink your glass of wine while all of the kids drink their liquor... even if their intention is to get shit faced while you maintain an enjoyable buzz. If the masses are content with smoking their "kush" then who are we to try to stop it....so long as it doesnt stop me drinking all of my less popular "microbrews".

:tiphat:

for what its worth - the "day-ender" for my girlfriend keeps me up, productive and thinking for hours.

After all the strains Ive smoked and grown over the years, only one has the staying power as the tastiest, strongest, low tolerance build up strain of all time and that is good OG. I dont call anything 'kush'. Anything else is second best, imo of course.

no Easy7 real OG Kush is

OG Kush: chemdog x [old world paki kush x lemon thai]

edit: and the lemon thai is the sativa it is what gives OG kush its heady high and lemony flavour

thats one of the many stories. If you listen to Chem he says the OG Kush is a S1 of the chem not a cross, so TBH I think its all made up BS. Now as for the OG, It good ass smoke, but so are a lot of other things and besides most of the hype is done by people making threads like this so more people who have never tried the real thing will say "dam I need some of that".

umm Oledad420 but no offense if anyone on here is not familair with OG Kush and it's counterparts I would say they have been living under a rock and most people these day's that's all they know

I used to be able to get Sage, Jack Herrer, NL5xHaze, and so many others too many to list...NOW Bubba or OG or Tahoe or this or that...as Tom Hill said " Use it up till we puke, then spit it out, throw it in the corner without ever realizing its overall worth and all that the term entails". and that's so true

I hear you, I'm on the east coast and everything is KUSH. It doesn't matter what it is, what it smokes like. Its kush or gas. I'm 33 and I have been through all the incantations of marijuana. In the early 90's it was chronic, mid 90's kind bud, late 90's kb/northern lights and the ubiquitous dro. Dro continued until 2003 and it became "HAZE" or "purple." In florida in the mid 2000's it was all "crip" or crippy, and lingo seemed to be separating by location again. 2006-2011 everything had a name even if that wasn't what it was, a bunch of ridiculous new names for already existing strains. Now, everything is gas, loud or kush. I could be kali mist or super silver haze......its kush. I'm sick of it....thats why I started growing so I could know what the hell i was smoking and keep track of what I liked. It sucks coming across some fire dank, only to have it mislabeled, and then impossible to find again.
33 haha,he,he,he rotflmao
you missed out on the smoke that got us here:biggrin:
i want the old school pine ,ya know the stuff before hydro was a known phrase, fuck i feel old

I don't understand, why we should/could stop anything?
Hype is hype, it's everyones own choice if you go with it or don't?Or if you educate yourself and find your own choices.
But to stop anything?
You can practicly choose what ever you want from seedbanks and let others choose what they want?
Why bother with...what those others are doing.

I could see your point if this Kush craze was limiting autoflowers or sativas, other good indicas but it isn't?
They are not going to extinct, or are they?

If you are bored with some type of cannabis, why not just ingnore it?
