the Hand Watering coco thread

Tjsleaf_1817

I use Canna Coco and water it just like I would if it was soil. Ive been using it for sometime now and let me tell you it is some good sh*t.lol. I keep my grows as simple as possible using only the A and B, PK13 14 and sometimes Canna Boost. I just wait till the pot is light and water. I pull about 18 to 20 oz off of each my thousand watters everytime.

I'm new to coco, and heard that if not watered EVERY day, I would have problems with nute lockout.. My question is; Is this true even when doing transplants?? In soil, once I do a transplant I let it go unwatered until I feel the pot is light enough for another dose of food, this promotes roots to search for water, and decreases chances of root rot from overwatering at a delicate point in their life.. Should I do the same with coco, or just feed EVERY day??

Thanks to anyone with advice..

I feed my plants everyday. I'm sure you'll get a variety of answers on this question, and this is the way I do it (that doent mean theres not other ways to do it). Every day, I water/feed the plants about 2 hours after the light comes on.. once the plant looks ready harvest, I do a week of flush with Advanced nutrients Final Flush.. it rocks.. never had any root rot issues.. ever..

^^^^ Thats the way biggles, but I think you just use the advanced Final 1 time at the end of flower, then continue with plain water.

Soil and coco are different. Coco drains better and has a 30/70 air to water ratio. You should treat it like hydro. Watering everyday with ~10-20% runoff, you are supplying the roots with fresh oxygenated nutes. It is hard to overwater coco as long as you have adequate drainage.

I use hempy buckets which allows me to water every couple days if I want.

This is exactly what I ment. Rockwool is the same way.
Thank you. I love coco best
Move Ive made in some time.
I plan on reusing it over and over
We shall see. Ill post my resaults.

what brand of mycorrizal is good 9n coir swamp man

One should work as good (or bad) as another. The way these micro-organisms work is they break down components of soil into a usable and attainable nutrient for the plant to take in. There really is nothing to break down in coco and if there were, the plant would be done and harvested before the micro-organisms to do anything. I think this stuff is one of the most over touted products in the growing business. That's just my opinion tho and I'm sure there will be plenty of people step up to correct me.

Re: the Hand Watering coco thread

I agree if your just using your coco once. There probably isnt enough time in one round.

But I plan on using my coco over. So hopefully it will help with root breakdown and nutrient breakdown and keeping any critters at bay. We shall see.

I think reusing the coco with all the root material left in place is asking for disaster.. I don't believe the mycorrizal will be able to break down that old root material.. You might want to try some sort of enzyme based supplement.

So just setting up for my coo grow right now. My flower room will be on a drip system but I'm planning on hand watering my veg room. Can coco be watered too quickly? Like a open hose end connected to a pump?

It's just like watering soil... if your worrying about disturbing the top layer, it should be no problem...

Hiya

im gonna use 6,5 L pots for my coco grow. Im going to have 1 mother from where i take clones. im gonna put the clones into RW and once the roots come out of it place them into these 6.5 L pots with only coco (i use coco bricks) and under 12/12 lights.

Now i was wondering about them roots. Once they hit the bottom of my 6.5 L pots how much should i be expectin o them to come out from the drainage holes at the bottom, and what should i do to them? Just cut the roots that come out of the pots, or do they even come out?
