John Morgan - Orlando, Florida - head of 90 attorney firm, according the TV news is backing a new Florida petition for the 2014 ballot for Medical Marijuana.

Prez Obama was at his house twice last year for re-election fundraisers.

Charlie Crist, former govenor of Florida works for him.

I'll let others run with this.

it takes a big player w/political connections to make headway when you need a supermajority vote for it becoming law.

maybe the MMJ Defense at the fla supreme court level will show that some residents have
protection under current fl criminal code but after a lot of tax dollars are spent.

very nice future if it passes.

peace

Hope it happens, but Florida being what it is, super right wing in the northern part of the state, and idiots in the southern part, I am not holding my breath.

Boy oh boy that's great news. John Morgan and his lawfirm Morgan and Morgan are a powerhouse and all over the west coast of Fla and that means big money Naples etc . I'm sorry he has to have a personal dog in this fight but since he does he has a better understanding of the medical needs those of us have in medical cannabis.

I shall immediately look to donate to the cause. Time, a new website in the works for information especially to seniors ( hey we ain't so far away, least I'm not ) and $.

If the GOP wants a future in Fla politics they'll get behind this one. This ones totally diverse in terms of need.

John Morgan is a heavyweight in Fla and known everywhere. This is big news for Fla.

Morgan said he is prepared to use his personal money and tap a network of donors to ensure that the measure makes it on the ballot in 2014 as a proposed constitutional amendment, the Times reports.
The cost to fund paid petition gatherers to collect signautres from 683,149 Florida voters could cost up to $3.5 million, while an ad and absentee-ballot campaign could cost up to $10 million, the Times reports.

YES TO HOME GROWS AND NO TO BOGUS DUID CANNABIS LAWS!

Hello all,

Are you suggesting that medicated people should be allowed to drive or that the testing levels inordinately low?

Impaired driving has by its nature an inherent danger.

Question then becomes what is impaired?

I offered to provide the programming for a new website free of charge to them. They really need a new website.

I also offered John Morgan our time, even if it's going door to door. There's huge waves of old people here that don't know anything and all they get are jars of pills every month from there alleged doctors.

We'll also help support a brochure campaign like the one done for Ron Paul. Let's get the word out! We can do this!

We also need to ask for guidance from our colleagues in the places that made it happen. They are already using California as a state to NOT emulate. Why? Let's learn how they did it in California, Colorado and get moving Florida!

Great News.

Someday, Legislators will see that it is not necessary to do the "Knee-Jerk" SLAMMING California Laws in order to create a new system. California did a well as it could, and MANY of the same issues will come up in any state. (growing laws., proximity to schools, dispensing concepts, Driving Laws, etc.)

Crossing my fingers and toes for the Sunshine State, where a good portion of my family lives.

For anyone who doesn't know who John Morgan is... If Anyone can move this forward in FL, it's This Guy! ! ! ! I can't tell you how exciting it is to have John Morgan heading up the fight!!! :woohoo:

Bio Overview of John Morgan from his website, www.forthepeople.com:

In 1988 John Morgan founded Morgan & Morgan in Orlando, Florida with three lawyers and three secretaries. The firm decided to advertise electronically, a difficult and controversial decision at the time. The initial advertising budget for Morgan & Morgan was $100,000.00. In 1995 the firm expanded to Tampa. By 2002 the advertising budget was $7,000,000.00. Now in its 25th year in business, the firm has 230 lawyers, 305 paralegals and 1200 people on staff, and has expanded to 16 offices throughout Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and New York, with an advertising budget of $24,000,000 a year. In 1988 the firm’s total revenues were just over $600,000.00. In 2000 the firm’s revenues exceeded $55,000,000.00. With the addition of separate sections in Commercial Contingency, Mass Torts, Consumer Class Actions, Wage and Hour, Securities Class Actions, Antitrust, First Party Insurance, Products Liability and Social Security the firm’s revenue has grown to many times that amount. Today, Morgan & Morgan has over 75,000 active files, adding about 6000 new cases each month.

Mr. Morgan was graduated from the University of Florida and The University of Florida College of Law. He has lectured extensively for the Florida Academy of Trial Lawyers where he sat on that board for four years and served as a FLAG trustee for the Academy’s political arm until 1998. He co-founded the nationally renowned program, Mass Torts Made Perfect where he teaches lawyers from around the country how to run their law practice as a business. In his book, You Can’t Teach Hungry, Mr. Morgan tells his life story in his own voice, teaching readers how he built the largest Plaintiff’s law firm in the country. Mr. Morgan is A.V. rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and The Florida Justice Association and has served on the Board of Trustees for the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida.

"
Celebrity personal injury lawyer John Morgan of Lake Mary and political strategist Ben Pollara of Miami will lead a medical marijuana campaign in Florida.

Both of them have big political fundraisers, mostly for Democratic candidates, and now are turning their attention to an Orlando-based group called “People United for Medical Marijuana.”

“If not me then who?” Morgan stated in an email to Political Pulse, explaining why he was taking the issue. “It is time we allow sick and injured people to be treated with a plant made by God and to get off the Big Pharma pill for all that ails you. Man made drugs are addicting and kill”

Morgan, co-founder of the Morgan & Morgan law firm, is chairman of the group, and Pollara, a founding partner of LSN Partners, LLC, is treasurer, Kim Russell, founder and vice chair of the organization, stated in a message sent out to supporters.

“The team we are putting together have the expertise to get the job done right. This is exactly what we have been working towards for four years,” Russell stated. ”God is hearing our prayers – keep up the good work!”

Morgan is someone who has hosted President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson among other big politicians for fundraisers.

Russell stated in his note that his group is backing two medical marijuana bills in the Florida Legislature. They are S.B. 1250, The Cathy Jordan Medical Cannabis Act, introduced by state Sen. Jeff Clemens, D-Lake Worth, and H.B. 1130, the Medical Marijuana Act, introduced by state Rep. Katie Edwards, D-Sunrise.

“These two pieces of legislation would provide access to a limited number of patients on October 31, 2013,” Russell stated."

John Morgan has VERY deep pockets, as well as being VERY connected politically.
Former Fla Gov Charlie Christ used to work for him. Gov Christ may run for Gov this year as a Democrat. Their aren't very many people happy with current Gov Rick Scott. This is the "perfect storm" that may finally make Florida a MMJ state!!! The man is putting up 3 million, all we need is 700,000 sigs, so please everybody get involved in this!!!!!!
