Great feedback and advice from everyone.

I don't think I'll contact him just yet to let him know. I mean the line I followed was pretty obscure and I doubt the coppers or anyone else would spend the time or resources going down that track. Unless he was already in the cross hairs and if that was the case he would be buggered anyway. I am sure they got more tricks up their sleeves than I have.

Another thing I didn't mention was spelling. He made the same common spelling mistakes in his forum posts as he did in his facebook posts. Think of words like various. It seems to only have an E on the end when he spells it (it wasn't various, but a similar word and fault). Therefor I would say the best way to hide that sort of things is a good spell check before you hit submit reply. I mean my spelling and grammar is the absolute pits so I'm trying to rectify that over time.

Easy7: You're quite correct. A blank backdrop is good. One thing I always look out for is the close up bud shots that your holding. I've noticed in a lot of shots you can zoom in onto fingerprints!! I always edit all my pictures and smudge the fingerprints. Don't black them out. Blacking them out would bring attention to the fact that you can see the finger prints. Hence authorities would be looking for that one pic you have not put big black squares on. Instead, its better to zoom in and smudge. When you zoom back out it looks like a normal finger/hand.

Also, don't use paintshop swirl. I've heard of a case where some crims were caught because they posted pictures of them doing illegal things. The cops just loaded the pictures into ps and reversed the swirl. No, I think the best thing is to use a smudge, smudge it left to right, then up and down, then round and round. Change brush size, repeat. I'm not sure if its reversible but I would say its harder than a simple ps swirl.

Just scare the crap out of the guy. It may do him some good. Hopefully it will help him in the long run. Most of us have had some form of wake up calls in life..most of us have learned from those experiences.

Fuck social media sites, never use them if you're smart. They get hacked all the time and who knows who may use that data for whatever reason.

Truth is, it's a very, very small world. If you don't believe that you're delusional. I pretty sure I know(n) about a dozen different people from canna sites in real life. I never contact them, because that wouldn't be fair. There's a good chance they recognize me also..who knows? Our mannerisms, expressions, and behavior do stand out to those who pay attention to such things.

..and yep, there are plenty of petty people, lowlifes, and nut-jobs out there in all walks of life. But, I believe in karma and she is a real bitch.

Stay safe!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/mar/12/english-boxer-curtis-woodhouse-twitter-troll

"The boxer was so enraged with the tweets that he offered his followers a £1,000 reward if they could help him locate the culprit. Woodhouse's growing number of Twitter followers chipped in and managed to track down his troll."

haha that could of ended in so many bad ways. What if the boxer was just going to confront him and dress him down, but poor Jimmy was scared out of his wits and opened the door with a stab, stab, stabbing frenzy? I recon he would have a pretty good case to argue because this guys a professional boxer and poor Jimmy is a pasty white computer geek. The boxer guy should have just rocked up and knocked on the door.. had a nice little chat with who ever answered. Telling him your going to be there... trying to "turn the tables" and torment him. Well that's pretty dumb in my books.

People that track down those that do not want to be found should be careful, I may know where a mojave green rattler is holed up. That doesn't mean I want to put my hand under that rock and pull him out. A man could get hurt doing such things IMO.

not cool mate, that may not be him but now Alexander Sullivan is in the hot seat

I was wondering who he was referring to as well. Was not sure if he was mistaking me for this person, or the person I was talking about. Either way neither I nor the troll in question are associated with this person so like you say, not cool. If any admins are watching they should remove reference to this person as they are an innocent person in this discussion.

While the government's increasing access to our data is a problem, it is up to us in the end. Instead of wondering what they can and cant do, assume you are already being watched. It's peoples' own need for recognition that drives them to post their 10k illegal grow, or talk about their sales activities over the phone or with people that don't matter. Anybody who has longevity in the green market knows that keeping it discrete is rule number 1

Posted to help people realize how much it would suck to see your info out there..

Making 2 points..

1- Dont be a troll... Karma is a biatch..
2- Dont look up a trolls info.. Karma is a biatch...

If you dont want to shoot yourself in the foot/head... (Nothing good comes from posting personal info)

Why would you put a bullet into the gun ? (Why look it up if you dont want to use it)

If you post my info and screw my life even for a day..
I would look you up and steal you dog...

Whats to say im not a crazy mofo that likes escalating beyond reason..
How much you think a bus ticket cost ?
Do you really think you cant be found ?

Do ya really want to find out ?

See where I'm going with this..?..

I have found the unfindable almost the same way as above and left the same type email message as my warining here... (using fake info-email/proxy and such myself)

I think the OP did us a favor by doing this exercise as an experiment and posting the results here. It serves as a well-expressed and reasoned warning to every member on this site.

I think the OP's research continued long after he discarded the idea of outing the troll.

I love the idea of tipping off the troll, but Good Samaritans often get screwed for their trouble. It's natural for decent people to picture it playing out as "Gee OP, thanks for the heads up, you really made me think, and I'm sorry I was such a dick, I'm going to try to be a better person now." But what are the odds of getting such a response?

What is much more likely to happen is, the troll will be outraged that you did all this research, and will consider your message as a threat, and being the troll he is, he will immediately turn on you, probably researching you, and possibly going you one better and posting your info...or even paying you a visit and causing harm to you, your stuff, or your loved ones. DON'T DO IT.

I think the OP's warning to us creates more good karma than trying to help the troll. :2cents:
