Hey everyone!! I have a question... is there a 250w HPS bulb that is notably shorter than the standard tubular sized ones? I have a 250w ballast, and I have a micro cool tube (5 inches diameter by 11 inches long) that I want to use. But the 250w tubular bulbs are too long to fit properly inside... the filament ends up being mostly blocked by the aluminum on the end of the cool tube. So I've been looking online trying to find the existence of a smaller bulb, and all that keeps coming up is that 150w bulbs are the perfect size.

But there's GOTTA be a 250w bulb that'll fit this thing, right? Does anyone know of one? I don't even guess it matters whether it's mogul or medium base, as I could probably use a socket adapter, as long as the bulb is shorter than the tubular ones. I would have guessed there is some kind of a more "globular" shaped bulb out there, but I haven't been able to find one.

If all else fails, I will downgrade to a 150w for this thing.

yee-ha!

my digi lumatek arrived today, 250-400W ballast(but planning on using the 250w due to small space)

Can anyone recommend a good 250W bulb to use for MH and another for flwr/HPS?
Ive seen the power plant MH in action b4, and they seemed to be ok for veg (mh). I was thinking of the power plant 250MH for veg?

Any input appreciated...thanks..
oh yes, hopefully ill be adding to this thread with my own lil 250W cabinet...cant wait

Glad I found this thread.

Will be buying a 250w ballast and bulb for a 2x2 space.

If you don't mind spending a bit more,

Horti's are great http://www.hydroponics.net/i/133494

Noticed not everyone makes a 250 watt bulb.

I've used Sylvania bulbs before so I want to go with this,

http://www.hydroponics.net/i/242004.

Although the ballast I'm going to buy, has a list of compatible bulbs and the Sylvania isn't listed. I may just go with a Plantmax, just because it's on the list.(and a lot cheaper than the Horti)

Looking Good Folks!

REMEMBER:
A 250w is a perfect choice if your not interested in selling to your mates and is the true indoor "percy" setup without the feelings of inadequacy!

From my 250w I am yielding approx between min 2 Oz to 3.5 Oz (Dry) per grow (2 plants).
There are far better growers out there than me, however I am pleased with the results I get.

I start with about 8-10 reg bag seeds (less if I had to pay for named cultivars or simply two if feminized) in 4inch tall polystyrene cups (re-useable with a careful wash) using seed compost that has been seived and a little perlite added.
Straight into 12/12 MH to start it off ( Lumatek 250).
They get a feeding with chicken manure tea with seaweed extract, in room temp rain water, gradually upping the amount as they grow as this organic feed lends itself quite well to the early nitrogen needs of most plants and is easy to buy if it cannot be sourced locally.
Later on, as these seedling become almost rootbound they get potted up into 1L pots using same compost as before.
When the pubes start to show I'm looking for the quickest females to identify and express good vigour and smell (this is very important!)
I choose the best 2.
Weak females and all males are fed to my rabbit and the rest composted unless its late spring then they get to fend for themselves.
The 2 females selected are re-potted up into 1gal pots or both into a Black 4gal recycling tub in JI2 or Batmix (depends how organized I am at the time but batmix is prefered), these are left to veg for a short time only under 250w MH.
When the pistilate hairs start to become more numerous I switch to 250w HPS and feed with a rich Comfrey and Seaweed tea with a little blackstrap mollasses and barley malt extract.
No need for flushing (no dirty monsanto style chems) but I stops feeding at least a fortnight before and stop watering a week before the chop.

Looking very good. But what "cfm" does you're exhaust fan have? And how big is you're grow space ?
Good luck with the rest of the grow project. :tiphat:

i have an 160/100 td silent fan for exhaust
and a passive intake on the floor

The closet are 22x22 inch and 78 inch high.
the temp are at 80 F

but iam having some problems with the ladys now
here is a pic if any one have an idea

That is a good temperature if it is measured from the top spot of the plants.
You could try to decrease height in your grow space to maximize air flow. From 78 inch to 47 - 55 inch. Do you drive your fan on full speed or low speed atm ?
And how often do you water you baby plants ? 7

yes its from top of the plants and the fan is not on full speed it has two settings i think it is on 140 the lower setting just because of the noise (its in my sleeping room)

i water when they are dry approx 3-4 days.

so you think my grow space are not getting enough air is the problem ?

New pots

I went to the store today and bought new bigger pots
i got that advice in the infirmary section. so i replanted them and i think the will like it in there new bigger pots with fresh soil .
i also drilled more holes as passive intakes so more fresh air can come in easier. i also trowed out two smaller plant to get room for the bigger pots
