Tips on shopping for bud in Amsterdam

My souvenirs from the Voyager....


These four plants are my two week old seedlings of the fours seeds I found in bud from the Voyager earlier this month. Totally stoked that i have some genetics of the best weed I smoked during my visit.
Not sure which is which but the seeds are Chocolope Kush, Kushberry, and MexicanxSleestack.

Mexican I bought from there mid september had a seed in it too! Too bad I lost it though, post more pics so I'll see what I missed, lol

in my opinion the main area to avoid is the redlight district and streets such as warmorstraat! this is where you are most likely to get shit weed at shit prices, like the bulldog!

Though Dampkring, Barneys and grey area should (grey area definitely) have some grade it is still very expensive. More than the UK with some of the strains! Head to Katsu, it is more out of town and the prices are right, notice the menu is in dutch this instantly makes me feel it isn't just for tourists.

As far as the shit attitudes of the bud tenders go, i think it is a case dealing with morons for a lot of the day. Have a chat with them, a joke and be friendly. it doesn't have to be about weed and as much as they will respect your knowledge a bit of banter works the world over. If they are being a prick, tell them! and walk out to another shop!

I just wanted to show an update on those seeds I got from Voyagers.
Here they are flowering nicely. Not a bad souvenir indeed.
I plan on hitting them all up with an OGxTrainwreck male I have because i want some cool new seeds.

Nice job on growing out those seeds. Look out for them going hermie later on in the grow. My thinking is that the genetics were not stable on the Chocolope Kush and Mexican Sleestack and that is why the seeds were there.

Had 4 beans from the Chocolope Kush which I tried to grow out. They all popped then died as seedlings. Probably my fault.
Please keep us up dated with your progress..

Thanks for the interest. I will post some pictures of the plants after they are done drying.
I was surprised that none of them produced any male flowers after nearly 12 weeks of flowering. I let them go long to make sure the seeds were set properly.
Looking forward to smoking them because they just smell like amsterdam.

Well here they are!
First up Chocolope Kush

Here is the MexicanXSleestack

They are both very nice and remind me of the buds they came from. I think the mexican is going to need a little cure time but is super heady.
The Chocolope Kush is really awesome. I like it nearly as much as my OGxTW. That is why I am very excited about the the 25 ChocolopeKushxOGXTW seeds that left the paper towels with tails for soil this evening. These are seriously two of the best I have ever smoked and should be killer as long as they behave sexually.
I am seriously burned right now from the ChocolopeKush and that rarely happens anymore. I am glad I saved those couple of seeds from my trip. Funk yeah!

I prefer to windowshop a bit. Ask to look at the buds first, and always ask the budtender what he likes.

I have had straight up asshole budtenders in AMS. 1 wouldn't show me a menu or anything and practically dared me to order. It was like Peace or Bird or something. I know a bird was in the logo (but not blue bird) and something about peace. Thought that was kinda funny. His friend/customer told me I should just go. But that is the exception. Next time I would focus on the hash but be open to anything that is prime. Good advice in this thread on how to be a respectful but knowledgeable tourist. All attempts at Dutch by me were answered in perfect English...but I am sure they appreciate the effort kinda

I had good experience with gray area and another one whos name i cannot remember its on the same
Street as balls meats balls haha.

i found majority of bud tenders to be douche bags to my gf and i who are humble an respectful smokers. I couldnt understand why they are so bitter i mean they have a pretty cruisy gig.

If i owned a store if a tender was anything but kind and welcoming they would not work a day behind the bar! My worst experience was with ricks coffeeshop, i simply approached and asked if he could tell me if anything he had avaliable could be purchased from a breeder in seed form. The response was "what do u think we grow from seed like u tourists?" I couldnt help myself and responded with "no clearly commercial grow ops run clones" he didnt like that and continued ranting about tourists as we walked away.

I still dont understand the way some
Of these guys act like do they think they are the only people in the world who deal with tourists

Yep I was over there in July .
I thought the same thing . "why are these folks doin a job they don`t like ? " Generally I got the impression I had come about 10 years too late . A lot of the coffee shops were in need of a paint job / new furniture , nicotine stains on the ceilings,disinterested bud tenders .
I tried a cpl of real nice strains several pretty ordinary ones as well .Dr Grinspoon and SSHz stood out . The surprise was the Thai /African / Jamaican import, import hashes as well . Half the price of the name brands and a more pleasant buzz than the roller coaster ride of most of the Dutch gears .A typical coffee shop visit with Dutch weed - Smoke a spliff and get real high . Drink a coffee , smoke a cigarette and its mellowed out and time to head to the next coffee shop . Fast food weed ...
