No, not really-I will have to start air-conditioning the room soon though. I was running a/c and not exhausting last summer, but the 180w UFO is new last December so we'll see.
Archtect-Are those bare bulbs hanging vertically? I cant really tell or see them. Wouldnt you want the bulb right beside the plant-more towards the top half? Thanks guys!

True but divide 6 k into 130 Sq foot and you got 46 watts per sq foot

if running horizontal you would be at 60 watts per 100 Sq foot room i am really looking forward to seeing your results there
TA
Bottom line its the end product looks, size, and quality,as well smell that matters yes i believe you will achieve little more yield as light is getting to lower bud sites but again size does matter cause when all dried people want buds not larf and shake .and we all know that lower buds become just that Fill
I have ran up to 25 plants per 1000 watts with decent results horizontal SOG in a good reflective room but again cash crop was on top canopy to mid plant.... The rest was hash making material.
you here many mention or shut down reflectors there like 95+ percent reflective so that means both sides of the bulb is hitting that imprint not difusing as you get in vertical that is why more power is needed in vertical grows
you also here people saying well i can get my plants closer ???? to light again there is a point where it doesn;t matter how close it is cause thats all plants are going to get many horizontal growers can run there 1k's as close as 12" i have with proper ventilation and air movement light difusers work well normally i run 16" from top canopy with no issues
bottom line do what works best for your situation and grow on cheers doc

Dr Fever isn't the calculation for Watt's per square foot supposed to be used for floor space? Not canopy space to determine how much light you need? So that would still make it 60 Watts per square foot.

doc ive grown vertical before.

i can assure you the nugs are just as big.

instead of pruning off lowers, you prune the backsides, at least the way my room is layed out.

when you surround plants with vertical lights you trim out the interior.

you see alot of larfy nugs because people dont prune agressively enough and temps are too high, among other reasons.

oh, and yes a reflector is good at increasing the intensity downward, but all of my plants are being hit by every bulb, iow, the plants are getting hit by 2k close by and another 4 k a little further back. the intensity is absurd.

Nice!! I still just don't think I will have the room to put the plants on either side like that.
Was that coco in that airpot? How did you feed?

coco, hand watered once a day.

fed CNS17 coco at 1.3-1.5 ec, mixed in .2 ec tap water.

was my first grow ever, hit just over 1.5 per light, mostly because we had a couple shit seed plants that only gave an oz, had they been of my clone stock, the room would have hit 2 per light.

Lol, no, i meant pounds.

And I had missed your first question, yes in my first post, the bulbs in that room are vertical. They are 18-24 inches away from the canopy. Right now the to of the bulb is at the top of the canopy to promote some stretch, as they are throughly bushy now. If you want them to bush out, put the bulb base at the top of the canopy, that way they will grow outward.

What!!??? Whoa lol!-damn!! How many plants, how many plants under each light? How close do you get the plants to the bulb? I am only in a 4 x 4 tent. I guess ima have to seriously think this over... Thanks again!

Actually, you don't put any plants " under the light". Unfortunately due to bulb shape and build, there is a small "blind- spot" right underneath - so most put a fan pointing straight up at the light.
Imagine 1 street light pointing down /\, versus a lamp-post ( ). Different pattern to include the plants in.

Oh yeahr, how many plants next to each light to get the 1.5 pounds Architect?
Thanks for the link Green!

Do you veg vertically? It says if you don't veg vertically as well, it does not work and your plants will become stressed. If I did switch to vert, would I still be able to be able to put my LEDs above the plants as well? I use two tents, one for veg and one for flowering. I veg horizontally under a 4', 6 tube t5 right now. Maybe if I layed the 4' t5 on its side and put some CFL's above the plants in veg, and vert hang my 400w HPS-and put the LEDs above the plants in flower it would work... Thanks for the input

If you run high plant count, horizontal veg is fine, in a tree garden it's best to veg vertical as it promotes strong lateral branching from the base of the plant and slows vertical growth drastically.

here a strong lateral branch from horizontal little over 5 weeks veg you won;t see to many vert looking like this again you can probably yield more as your harvesting lower buds that never ever really join up so they need to be broken down which again turns into small dried buds key to good harvests is being able to have consistent bud structure having as many buds near any light source horizontal works good for many again pending on size of room tons of factors here
You can go into the vert section and by know means are they killing horizontal growers there struggling like everyone else to achieve GPW stats
like saying hey i stuck 12 plants around my vertical bulb and got 2.5 pounds
or a guy can say hey i got 2.5 pounds off 4 plants horizontal who did actually better ????
Just have a look on here who is pulling stupid numbers aptis thread comes to mind Jack ?? he is growing horizontal and sure his hauls are incredible
I look at it this way vertical bulb even tho it lights up more of a area will lose its intensity rather quickly there is no lie about that , horizontal with reflector you get both ends of the light into its area so in reality what ??? would love to find a you tube showing power loss at 2 feet / 3 feet ....
Stick a light meter on vertical 2 feet away and one on reflected light 2 feet away you think they would read the same ???? of course its not going to why cause vertical light difueses quicker from its source
many factors and stressed posts excessive stretching in vert why is that ????
Bottom line its hard to pass the small crappy buds??? when you go looking for instance to buy a bag of weed what do you want ???? small buds are average decent sized buds???? remember your paying for it right BE TRUTH FULL

Anyways so many factors work both ways scrogs etc are a amazing way to utilize your room with smaller plant counts that will give you a good harvest
another important factor here is why so many vert growers tend to tie there plants up its really cause once buds do form plants are so stretchy and lanky that there is no strength to stems to actually hold buds up anyways first pictures is LED's grow vegged little over 5 weeks with broad mite issues but look at the plant again under gavita power if it was healthy it would be killer picture of one of my scrogs 3 k 12 plant yield was 7 pounds 3 0z just under half pound of hash from 12 plants all smaller bud crap etc as well picture of half pound bag of presentable nugs

PS: i am a couple weeks away from firing up 10 k of gavita and 6 k of gavita plasma's in a room i will run them at full power 1150 watts so total 17,500 watts of lights alone it will be a crazy yield show

Nice setup DrFever!! I am unsure of what to do... I do know I could LST a little more to increase yield. Thanks for all the input everyone-haPPy toKin'!! :woohoo:  :peacock:

Doc, all i can say is that, you can shit talk all the growers in the vert section all you want.

but it show how narrow your mind is, im telling you as fact, because ive done it and seen it.

you can absolutely grow nugs vertically, just as big as you can grow them horizontally.

you want proof, just watch my grow, ill blow your mind....
