I have a friend that used to deal with rats at his place up in Kula....
what he ended up doing...
was catering to the critters

he left a bowl of water and food and they ate that and left his plants & tubing alone.

fucking hippies, right LOL

The one in the second post of this thread has grown 7+ lb plants for YEARS...Enjoy.

been there and done it:D

its really not to tough to produce large yielding plants, especially once you have seen the whole process on the job. large beds, pots, mounds with good rich soil, keep um moist and poundage.

weather is what is the problem. can really do some damage.

so stoked over the up commin season, puttin down 20 100gal smarties, gravity fed drippers, straight FFOF, once early flowers crown, top dress with FFOF/batguano mix. the mark is 5 per.

im shootin for a easy restful season:D were gonna be in a drought again, good hot sunny weather all season, with the freakin high winds. fenced plot covered with blackout cloth to keep the winds at bay.

pura :moon:vida baby

Father Earth... Thank you very much for the info on CEC. Also thank you to everyone else who convinced my hard headed self that coco has no place in my soil mix. I feel like I am finally on the right track but could use a little more help.

To recap I am starting from scratch and will be filling 6'x6'x2' raised beds.

The ingredients will be - Peat Moss, Topsoil, Compost and Pumice -

What i need help with is coming up with the perfect ratio for these raised beds.
I am considering these ratios.
40% Peat Moss 20% Peat Moss
20% TopSoil 40% TopSoil
20% Pumice OR 20% Pumice
20% Compost 20% Compost
I have never attempted a custom mix of this size so any advice would really help. I really value the opinions of you guys and am forevor grateful for the help.

Also I plan on adding dolomite lime at 1 cup per cubic foot of Peat Moss(How does this sound?). I will be amending with Monrovia which is 5-6-6-1(calcuim)-1(sulfer) at a rate of 10 lbs per bed.

Much Love to those who take the time to help out a fellow stoner in need!!!!

A couple of things...nothing wrong with top soil but who knows what is in it? Unless you have a soil test you won't know what base you are starting from. Second that Monrovia is seriously deficient in Ca.

IMO the single most important thing in growing plants this long is the Ca:Mg base cation ratio. You are looking, with mid 20s total cec, for 65-70 % Ca and 10-15% Mg.

Tom's recipe gave me 71:7. It is a great place to start and then you can reamend from there yr by yr with different things (if you keep using the chicken shit it is gonna drive P too high eventually). I would recommend you replace at least half the gypsum with dolomite though to get the Mg base saturation up a hair.

Clearbarbed upgrade those to 200s! the most ive really seen folks pull of 100s is 3Lbs which is not bad at all, but 5 might be harder depending on genetics.

Anyone care to recommend a good soil testing place in 530? i wanna take some samples in and see what im working with.

Sea maiden says she gets 5 lbs off 65 gals. Also, these guys are the best lab I have found. http://www.kinseyag.com/SoilAnal.htm It's not close by, but I just sent out my soil samples and it was super easy. Shove samples into post offices "if it fits it ships" boxes, fill out form and wait about 2-3 weeks for results from when you ship it. Thanks to those whom gave me the heads up on this lab, I will never use another lab.

530 is huge... PVF or most hydro stores but would probably use OrganicBuds lab.

2-3 weeks for results?! Holy Emmanuel ! , youd be better off sending your soil samples to Santa Claus.. FGL normally has my results within a week of receiving my samples... Cali based company with many benefits. They dont frown if you tell em the crop being grown is cannabis either...

Get your water tested. An irrigation suitability report. No need in having your soil tested if you dont know whats in your water. They will tell you how to amend accordingly based on the water results..

Can someone please point me in the right direction. I was thinking about applying the receipt on the first page to my greenhouse grow. My greenhouse is 2,2m high,2m wide and 4m long. What kind of raisedbeds or container dimensions should i consider? I will only grow 2plants this year. And when should i put them out (in the soil) to avoid overgrowing of the greenhouse in height?
Thanks for all the anwsers!
Cheers, Bleiweis

what kind of gusts do you expect to be getting CBF?

50 mph quite often, and gets up to 70mph gusts at times.

couple years ago while buildin my home, gusts pressurized the home when it was a shell, blew heavy duty french doors and a large window, right outta the home and into the yard. still tryin to figure out how that was possible when the home was closed up????

.

Hola bro, we pulled 3 to 3.5 on 12 bag homemade beds last season 18cu ft total, and 3 avg in 60 gallon smarties started real early in a GH.

have some good yieldin plants to help reach the 5 per. BlueDream, BlackToothGrin, Purple Hashplant, Strawberry Dog.

smarties will be sittin on tilled amended ground as well, was gonna just set um on pallets, but decided to set um on good soil so they can go on through the pot if need be.

I think you can ask for your order to be expidited, so I just posted the longest it could take. As for sending in samples to Santa.....Then you have to send some cookies, if you send some cookies you have to send some milk. If you send some milk ext ext......

The other great thing about the lab I posted is the recommendations will utilize the proven principles of the Kinsey/ Albrecht system of soil fertility management. Can't beat that IMO.

Ay... no, I'm sorry but if that's what it sounded like I said then that's incorrect. I don't have a single 65gal SP, I do have several 100gal SPs, and have been growing in raised beds for years. I did some calculations on the volume of the raised beds, and from that figured that doing 5lbs in a 65gal SP is doable, though.

I felt like you said that after I made the claim that you max out around 3lbs with 65gals. Sorry, I must of misunderstood. Thanks for the correction.

had 300 gallon above ground beds back a few years ago in cali workin for the dude. 7/8 with Blue Dream.

blue dream is nuts....put out a few BDs that were only 2 feet tall in beer cups into a few 200 gallon smartpots that werent fulll, so maybe 100-150 gallons of soil tops. they all hit 3.5-4 LBs each i was amazed....
