Pink Salad Grow

I am currently starting a 12 plant Pink Salad Grow in 5 gallon(20 liter) bags of Coco/Perlite/Cocktail and a 1000 watt HPS light.

I remembered to take a picture on the 15th when they were between 7-9 days old. Germination was somewhat erratic even though it did end up at 100 percent. Running 24-7 right now. Going to 19-5 on the 22nd. So far I think I may have 7 females in the running.

Nice to see someone grow some SGS stuff :) pulling up a seat.

I've got 6 SGS beans that I just put in to crack, and 1 guy, 1 dwarfed messed up girl, 2 that haven't shown, and a fail to sprout, and a sprout that put out round leaves and stopped growing. Plants went into coco on Jan 29th. This was out of a mix pack.

The Pinkbud genes are really awesome to see in grow logs, and I hope I get a little in my pack.

The plan is to see how large PS can go with extra root space. I have a distinct feeling that there are phenos in there that can use every bit of space and produce enough bud to justify the pot size and the light expenditure. Going to produce a small amount of seed from the strongest of those. So far the strongest girl that I photoed above has very dark green leaves with dark purple undersides. There is a male next to her that is going to be either pink or green who is just a bit bigger than her and is probably going to have a massive structure.

Our last pink salad run, in an AF sog, 1 litre then 6 litre pots.
Our plants where all between 55 and 70cm.
Good luck with the grow :)

Pink Salad. Approximately 2 weeks of age. They are growing quite quickly. Think they have a bit of Mag deficiency which I am treating with Cal Mag. They seem to be liking it. One though on the edge is not too happy though Gave the plants there first light feeding yesterday. 5ml Cal Mag, 5ml Brer Rabbit unsulphured molasses, and 4 drops of Superthrive(I only use superthrive once) to a 4 litres of water.

Am using a New Coco on this grow and getting things balanced is being a challenge. The Stuff is Botanicare in the 5 kg blocks.
Good quality and whatnot but it really sucks up the Cal Mag. Plus my local water is already high in calcium. My usual method is to wash the coco in the bathtub with hot water to get the salt out. With botanicare its prewashed but not in a High calcium water. Had been wondering how it would effect. Looks like I found out. Washing even just for show is now demanded.

Was looking at my photos in Comparison and these plants are effectively Doubling their mass every 4 days. Hope they keep it up. They could be Monstrous by harvest time. I do know that growth will slow around day 35 but think about it. That is 21 days away. Picture them 5.25 times their current size(roughly 3-7 inches now) at the start of flowering. I could easily see them reaching 60-120 Cm by harvest time. Thankfully I have 240 cm of vertical space.

Currently it is looking like I have 10 females(not 100% on that) and 2 males(1 male is for sure and 1 that looks like it might be with a few more days of growth) Honestly was expecting on 5-6 females like I get with most auto grows but am pleasantly surprised. Of course I still have 19 days or so to be sure. The male with balls is surprising short compared to nearly all the girls. So is the suspected male.

Also the Cal Mag has cleared up the Mag deficiency issues quite nicely.

Thanks All.

Looks like there are going to be 8 females in all.

There is a male that will probably drop its pollen by the 35 day at the rate it is growing. May save some of his too. He is far different than all the other plants.

There are two primary males in the running for being the most healthy. I suspect the largest male will end up the one used in this run.

That Female I keep photoing is amazing I think she is a full on purple due to her dark purple leaf undersides. She is also keeping up with the largest male with no trouble at all. I see an excellent match with these two. Currently she stands 8 inches tall and is 11 inches in diameter with 15 days before she starts her flowering.

Selected the primary male and ripped the other two. Moved the remaining males to the outer edges so I could bring the females closer under the lights. Have the quickie male who will drop pollen very soon and the larger male that will be the parent of this generation. I think quickie might be useful for passing on rapid bloom traits.

Observed something else very interesting. There are Roots growing out of the drainage holes on All my bags! I had a feeling Pink Salad would be able to do that.

Will post a picture of the Quickie Male tomorrow hopefully.
