Very Tiny PC Grow Box - Easy Ryders

Looking good, probably not going to see fireworks at this point. Right now she's probably starting to really stretch out her roots in that soil. But she'll start putting on those inches before you know it.

Here's mine 7 days old. Yours seem to grow slightly slower but I wouldn't worry about that. Plus I use 18/6 lights and the temperature is a little bit higher too so that could affect one way or another. I've also noticed that if you use slightly fertilized soil and only plain water for watering for the first week, the plants tend to have a kickstart to the vegetative state.

she's healthy so your OK.
the mix looks dry and you got enough perlite.
your going fine.

im doing 3 Easy Ryders atm (in DWC so not the same type of grow)
how big is that pot she is in?
too much soil and she will get too big for the case.

dont be fooled by the Auto tag these things grow bigger than your PC case. Mine are 2 foot tall and still stretching.:)

ok thanks tas, she's on day 10 and still looking the same.. I'm pretty sure it's not over/underwatering because she looks the same and the leaves aren't droopy, i watered her fully just once about 5 days ago. Guess I will have to wait it out and see. The pot is only 7''Lx4''Wx5''H so it's only 4 inches deep.. hope it doesnt get too big, if so I'll just build a cabinet for them. Thanks for the input tho.

I hope that's what she's doing, and not dying on me haha.. :tumbleweed: thanks for the heads up!

I tried changing the lights to 18/6 as well and see if stretching just a little might help her out.. thanks for the input

... seems to be a little slow.. any thoughts??

Tiny seedlings grow faster in smaller containers because the wet/dry interval isn't as long.

Avoid watering until the seedling needs it. Keeping the soil perpetually moist will retard growth by depriving the roots of oxygen. Roots absorb necessary oxygen as the soil dries. Until it gets bigger, water only the estimated size of the root ball or a little bigger. The root ball is usually the same size as an untrimmed canopy. Perpetual moisture at that size could contribute to root rot.

EDIT: "dry" is relative. Don't let it get so dry that the plant droops from lack of moisture. The easiest way to know you need water is to pick up the pot. Familiarize yourself with how much your moisture-needy pot weighs and then avoid watering until it approaches that approximate weight.

Ah I see.. thank you so much for this great advice disco:thank you:. I never realized that the wet/dry cycle would be much longer than a cycle of wet/dry in a smaller cup-sized container.. I have only watered the planter once which was done 6 days ago (on day 4 after sprouting) It's dry down to about 3.5 inches, do you think I should try watering just a little bit around the plant? It's starting to droop a tad bit and there has been no growth in the past 4 days..

Plants can droop from too much or too little moisture. It's good you're keeping track of the number of days between watering.

If the container feels heavier than an approximate amount of dry mix, I'd water sparingly if any.

Some of the moisture in your medium will evaporate as opposed to being absorbed by the plant. Soil porosity and environment will affect your evaporation rate. Soil porosity will also affect how much water is retained as opposed to running off.

Good deal cloudnine. Hope your little guys are doing ok. I noticed you're using fertilized soil. It's probably ok if all organic, but definitely don't feed them until they're a few weeks old. That soil has plenty of food for awhile. Also watch the watering in that big container. It's real easy to overwater seedlings.
