Huge Success - High Times Medical Cup in San Francisco

This last weekend brought long lines and happy faces to the first-ever High Times Medical Cannabis Cup to San Francisco. Held in the Terra Gallery and Events Center on Harrison Street (SOMA), a great time was had by all who enjoyed two days of beautifully sunny weather and happy vibes.



However there were the usual snafus getting started as massive crowds arrived to get into the expo center on Saturday morning. It took several hours to get all the folks in to the center itself. The police were called for crowd control, but it was a peaceful incident with no arrests reported.



Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20, were especially happy for some of the vendors. Organizers recognized the need for cannabis vending on-site to qualified medical patients. Cooperatives, Collectives and Dispensaries that entered the cup also were allowed to utilize booth space as temporary vending sites. Business was brisk to say the least, with at least one booth completely selling out their special strain which was entered into the competition.



Sunday evening was the Award Ceremony, which was anxiously attended by all entrants and their supporters. Lots of cheering and hollering greeted the winners as they were presented with High Times Cups, and it was a good party.

It truly was a great time shared with many great people. It was amazing to meet and smoke with people that I had admired for so long.

The venue was a bit small but allowed for a much more intimate experience. Though due to the relatively small size of the venue there were many turned away sadly. I have a feeling next year's cup will be even better as there will be much more time to prepare for everything and have a much better guesstimate of what attendance will be like.

All and all, I had an incredible time and really cant wait for next years cup! Payaso and Skip it was certainly nice to meet you guys as well. Look forward to seein' you all there next years cup!

God's pussy? Really Greenbicycles that's the best you can come up with? Whoever's job it is to name new strains needs to be fired over there. I'm 100% pro cannabis but come on folks, can we really expect "mainstream" people to get onboard this train when we are naming our herb stuff like this? I dunno maybe I'm just overreacting or something but it really does seem overboard to call your cannabis something that is out right imflammatory to a lot of people.

I wrote this in the Good Karma Grower's thread and found it somewhat relavant to put here...Always had a great time Payaso look forward to our next meeting...also a heads up on the rep system glitching up again, I just noticed I lost about 1000 rep in the last hour somehow, no worries just giving you the heads up.

Hey all just wanted to stop in and share my experience at yesterday's 1st Annual HighTimes Medical Cannabis Cup. First I have been to the actual Cannabis Cup in Amstredam and in my opinion this was better and worse for various reasons. The Pro's were: the people (I met DJ Short, Ken "Ken's GDP", BOG, owners of Harborside and BPG, and many more), the seminars were surprisingly insightful and audience driven, the ability to medicate on site, the freedom of being searched, music, and last but not least the multitude of beautiful women. The things I thought could be improved upon were organization, no samples of the enteries, seating and rest areas, heat issues, sound issues in seminar room, and WATER WATER WATER!! Not to mention the biggest downfall in my opinion was the lack of judges. You know for each catagory ther were only 2-3 jugdes!?! Why do 2 people have the power to say what's best over a democratic voting system. And 2 oz (or 30something grams of hash or 30 something medibles) between 2 people over two days is absolutely crazy, my throat hurts thinking about it. One of the medible jugdes said after 17 edibles the towel in her hotel started to move next thing she knew she woke up in bed the next afternoon. Well what the fuck?? Who needs 17 medibles and at that point there is no possible way of knowing what has what effect, duration, burnout, ect. Anyways the judgeing part really seemed to be down right dumb. But what ever, it just makes me appreciate GKG that much more. We have such a great system and I'm really trying to spread the word as much as I can. I also had to tell you all you've been ripped off. I saw flyers posted all over the place...a new "farmers market" is starting in SF with very similar connotations, only on sat, people from all over come and only bring the best, yadayadadyada. Anyways I'm sure you may not be the first but immitaion is the highest form of flattery so take it with a grain of salt.

Ingrid is a swiss variety (or a has some swiss parentage). It has a funky sour skunk kick but with lots of bubble gum candy sweetness in there too. Good batches can reach 18% THC or so. Great herb. Indica dominante. The concentrate was incredible the product smelled like the bud... sweet and not hashy...45% THC
