bro it was the smallest plant in the room. I had it propped up on a cinder block so that it could be at the same height as the other plants. lol... It did just fine on yield. Remember I was just flowering out my root aphid plants... which appear to be gone gone gone!

Bobbles....Poly-Iso boards work well as long as yas double and triple each cavity filled for max insulation since the nasty ass rockwool slabs are thicker and cost less but.....

Whatever it costs to dial yer shit with what`s available is what it takes......and....NEVER.....

Have I tried to push shit off on you as the be all end all wayta do shit........

Only what works.....but....there`s many waysta get to "what works"....I try ta show the shortest path from what I`ve learned , but my shit ain`t written in stone.......It`s only 1 way.........and....

Opinions vary.....

Roxul is available through lowe's. They dont' carry it in stores, but you can order it on their website and they'll ship it to their stores for free.

It's often used in recording studios/home theater/etc as sound absorption.

It's not as cheap as fiberglass, but it isn't exactly expensive, either.

Roxall is good for sound insulation, but it does poorly for heat insulation.

Freds- not trying to say the info on the rockwool boards is useless, but if I need to be a licensed builder to get them, then that's a problem. I just want to figure out what the best option is that's available to me. I don't want to have a middleman get my building supplies for me like a drug deal... Lol. I'm having trouble understanding what you mean about filling the cavities. Like with roll-out fiberglass insulation? And then foamboard over that?

I need a little hand holding...

Makes sense - I was just bringing it up in response to the question, "What's that rockwool insulation?" :)

When you say "foamboard," I'm presuming you been big 4x8' (or 2x4') sheets of styrofoam, right?

Hmm. Good question. How thick were you imagining the foamboard to be used?

bobble, were you planning on putting up the foamboard like you might some sheetrock? Or were you going to fit it between the studs?

If you were thinking of just tossing up some styrofoam across the studs (rather than in between them), I get the idear about filling the cavities with the roll-out stuff.

Or were you planning on putting chunks of foamboard in between the studs?

How thick'a foamboard are you imagining, for whichever application?

You can get it with out being a contractor. You may have to have it special ordered though through the contractor desk is all. I don't know how much it is though. Last time I bought some was about 7 years ago and it was pricey then.

I don't know. If you're planning on keeping the place and remodeling later, why not just staple up some poly (for a vapor barrier) and blow in some cellulose. Home depot will let ya use the machine free w/ (used to be) 6 bags min purchase.

Kind of like "cry once". Do it right the first time, and be done with it.

And cutting the foam pannels and fitting them between the studs wont really accomplish much (but make ya feel better). Unless ya seal (and I mean SEAL) the pannels to the studs, the cold air will just flow around them.

For top of the line, closed cell SPF is the shit. Just had it installed in a fire restoration I'm taking care of, and I'm highly inprerssed. Spendy tho.

And as for those heating elements, pretty sure they can be dialed down via variac (sp?). Don't know if I'd want a vat of oil on top of my well tho, in case of a spill...

A contractor friend made the same suggestion to me. He further suggested that if I only need 2 bags, I could still buy 6 bags and then use the machine and then return the unused bags for a refund.

You return the machine to the rental department and then you return the unused bags at the customer service desk. Right hand never knows what the left hand is doing, and the employees aren't paid enough to care, anyway.

This is great! Thanks guys, I'll go with the blow-in insulation! I should be able to do everything for >$300.

Buy 10 bags, the machine is free for the day. I guess this stuff is great for sound deadening too, which is good cause you can hear the hum of the fans right up next to the house.

I don't think it'll work for walls though. Looks like I need to get some batts... Has anyone stapled poly to the walls and filled it in with blow-in insulation?

I've never done it with my own 2 hands, but seen it done a few times. I have a insulation contractor I work with who can do it cheaper than I can buy the stuff for.

Use a "slap stapler" to put up the (clear) poly. Tape any protrusions, cut a hole towards the top of the wall cavity, insert hose, watch cavity fill, remove hose, tape hole.

I'm sure there is a youtube vid on it. there's a youtube vid for everything.

It's like everything else, it's all in the prep. After that, "Baby shit".

The tape is important tho. Sealed up tight, you'll have a good vapor barrier to keep that mold problem down.

Plastic vapor barriers don`t work down here due to constant condensation from heating and cooling and mega humidity , so I`d be wary of blowin the walls with essentially paper since that`s what cellulose is and ......

Once hot and cold mixes around grow areas , yas can bet yer ass there`ll be condensation formin on plastic makin "wet" paper insulation.....especially with elevated humidity levels needed for dialage till end of stretch....and....

I`m pretty sure if yas can`t get rockwool slabs from a local insulation supply co , then fiberglass batts are your best bet for the walls , and yeah the rockwool shit`s nasty AND lil pricey , but works like a mofo....anyways.....

Do whatchas must with what`s in the budget my buddy and keep dialin....

The atticat insulation is a fiberglass blow-in insulation. I'll make a few calls and see if I can't find the rockwool slabs... I would like to be able to just stick up the slabs and call it a day. Otherwise the blow-in fiberglass insulation really looks like the way to go. The only thing is that it's easier to operate the machine with 2 people... one loading the machine and the other spraying the insulation... So I would have to break a rule, or just keep running back and forth. Decisions decisions...

Edit: roxul slabs are expensive. I'm going with atticat for sure. I don't have $1k to throw at this project. Additionally everything I've read says loose fill insulation is superior to batts.

Totally understand about budget , and all the shit down here`s cellulose for attic blown insulation , so still be careful with plastic closed insulated wall cavities condensating.....I`m just sayin....

Yas could cover the outside walls with anything but plastic although that adds budget outlay.....Just do whatchas gotta do and upgrade as budget provides Bro.....
