Note that he mis-spoke describing them as cedar wood chips. These are not great to use as they contain certain anti-microbial agents. They are okay for some purposes and also in minor percentages.

Pay close attention to not putting wood chips in your soil...just on your soil and do not plant tender young plants close to them (be sure the roots are way in the soil) and I found it very difficult to seed in/under wood chips less than 4 years on the soil.

Sometimes cripticism [sic] is counter-productive.

Another option would be hemp wood chips but if it is available its more pricey than the normal wood chips.
