Seems like a flu shot for plants. I got some packets of Axiom Harpin Proteins but the research I could find the reviews have been kind of mixed. I see that Messenger was banned in California ....wonder why?

Does anyone here have experience using Axiom or any other Harpin Proteins? I'd like to hear them good or bad.

I use Axiom, my plants love it. better health, and faster growth, also a shorter grow cycle as my plants developed fruit faster. I followed the instructions on the website www.axiom-harpin.com/applications.

I see the product is registered with the EPA, people have said CA is a pain...

Used to use it all the time.... never was a cure-all, never hurt anything. If something that costs ~$20 can make my girls life better, even imperceptibly. I'm game to try it!

From what I understand the product creates an immune response in the plant by triggering the systems that detect and respond to foreign attack.

Think of it as Airborne or Emergen-c for plants...?

They claim it can increase yields, but I think thats like (anything that makes your plants life easier "increases yeild")

We used it as a buffer against PM and Botrytis.

Messenger is not on the market anymore, I cant remember if it was from Bayer Plant Science's of Aventis. No one owns a patent on it, they are produced my multiple companies.

Try google scholar "harpin protien" learn urself

We now use Actinovate instead. Its a Streptomyces strain that has a similar-ish effect

I spoke with Rx Green Solutions (who sells Axiom?). They said the Axiom is a next generation version from messenger and is 3x as effective.

You are right HellaFella420, they said the product is a plant health product, but through generating the "systemic acquired resistance" response within the plant, increased nutrient uptake, etc. (all said from company), leads to increased yields...10-30% increase in vegetable crops....

I use Employ H&T. It comes in 2 ounce packets for about $30. I subdivide them into about 50 teaspoon size packets, vacuum seal and freeze. That's enough harpin protein to last about 2 years, assuming biweekly applications at 1/4 tsp per qt. Works well to promote plant vigor and keep PM at bay. Regular appication is key.

Thats a pretty big claim!

Should I go to the grow store and buy every product that says I'll get +10% or more gains...... Pretty soon I'll be growing +4000% more nugs then usual?

Is that what I've been doing wrong all this time?

:) just sayin'

Wouldn't that be nice! I will keep using harpin proteins until they steer me wrong. help to keep my crop healthy and if i get some yield benefit...even better!

True that hella , we should all be pulling 30lbers if it were all true. My question is to what are they comparing their product? 30% more than the first time dirt and water grower in the closet in the back office? I call bullshit but hey everyone needs to make a buck right it's just like P.T said. I do like the idea of an immune boost but why not iduce the plant to have a positive imune responce with light stress, temp stress, and feed stress. All can be easily used in a grow, cost nothing and have real benifits. The strep culture sounds cool hella another way of inducing positive stress.

Claims are cheap performance is priceless

undefined claims are not on the top of my list, there is plenty of them out there. I found this overview online:

http://www.rxgreensolutions.com/wp-...xiom-Harpin-Protein-Technology-Vegetables.pdf

it says harpin proteins has over 100 patents, was on the cover Science Magazine (whatever that means), but the trial results seem pretty in depth and from the commercial side. Maybe I am getting sucked into the research too much, but seems legit (and I get good results). I am not as experienced to be able to control stress from inputs, hopefully i will lean.

The plants can't optimise yield AND activate cell-death response
it's a choice of one or other.

So don't trust the 'research' of companies who want to sell you the product

Just do a side-by-side and watch. There should be a quick, visible response. Too bad you can't still by Messenger for a couple bucks a pack. That made it cheap to find out.

I have used harpin proteins before and love em. I will not say I get a larger yield from just that but I do only grow 100% Indicas and average 1.5oz per 1 gal. I only top once and use General Organics and a few additives. With all working together i say it helps for sure. My hybrids can hit 2-2.25oz per 1 gal. It all comes down to health, environment, and hard work. Halo is a good brand to check out, contains micros also.

Aspring & Water? Sounds interesting...

I see they are offering free samples of Axiom (harpin proteins) to be shipped to your local store. supposed to be 3x as active as messenger, guess can run side by sides with this.

Asprin will without a doubt induce S.A.R.

I have a form of mosaic virus in my garden. i fed with asprin @ 325mg per gal for 4 weeks in veg....... by the end of the 3rd week the virus was nearly undetectable.

I'm sure harpin proteins would be more effective. I would love to see a side by side!
