Lets have a death star thread! Come on in!

Yea that always seemed like quite the joke - although I will say getting ahold of the Bubblestar is definitely harder - I lost both my DS and my BS about 2 years ago - and I gotta say, getting them back hasn't been as easy as it was to get them (but I'm sure part of it is that I stop running around the festivals and my C-bus connect passed away). But seriously if any of the O-io "Star line" is hard to get, that BubbleStar is definitely held by way less people than the DS..

I just hope I can get mine back sometime soon, really missing that Candied Sour taste from the DS (not to mention that high!), and I really miss that spicy Bubblegum taste of the the Bubblestar. Both are great producers as well. But hey at least people are showing that it can purple up - mine used to all the time - but I had the temps dropping to 60 or so at that time. Guess this is the problem with moving around and not keeping in touch (although not alot of the original crew ever gets online) - but everybody's cuts are looking great, and trust me, it is very environment dependent when it comes to how it grows and especially the purpling - I had to get mine dialed in and then those big swings from 76-78 to 60 at night to get them to purp when I had em, but they were great producers once they got dialed in. Before that, I didn't really see to much purp out of it, either way - everyone whose got the cut right now, feel a little lucky, cause I've had trouble getting mine back (mainly cause my main dude wants me to run it for a crop-out and I only run things for myself, not a casher) but hopefully that'll change.

I got a couple more pics of the deathstar during my recent visit to feed and water. I didn't get any with my good camera but I been very busy and I am going thru some difficulties right now.

Shes just now starting to show some swelling and pistils starting to change and shrivel.

Deathstar, same cut as Blaze, day 75. This was my first time running her and I learned some things so next time it should be alot better. I got 11 ounces of a 20 gallon pot in a not so great spot under the lights. Her structure is to die for, her stretch is moderate and much more controlled then ecsd, and she seems easy to grow just watch the nutrients. Her pollen when reversed is viable, and her offspring is awesome. Her high is amazing, and I love her smell and taste. I am looking forward to a small mono crop of her to dial her in more.

Oh and TicalionStallion, seriously it took me to sit down and start trimming her before I seen the ecsd pouring from her as well.

Personally I used to chop mine around day 70-72 - Always golden, and she does take a little time to dial-in, can be kinda finiky with the nutes especially in flower, it seems to love em, but hates if they get to much. Personally I found keeping the Nitrogen a little higher into week 2.5 or so of flower, then pretty much cut it completely and boost the PK starting at week 3 and really week 4, personally this really helped bud production and kept the nutrients more, "in line" with the normal schedule, she can also hog a decent bit of Cal-Mag to, mostly Calcium but I used to get Mag issues right before budding if I didn't feed with epsoms at least once, but that was using RO and running in coco of course. But it's also been a good few years since I had her in my stable, but just some personal notes. Miss that beautiful little girl.

I'm running soil, the mix I am running is listed below.

1 bale of bcuzz hydro mix
1 bag foxfarm ocean forest
1 bag foxfarm happy frog
1 bag of coco
30 lb bag of earthworm castings
30% chunky perlite
1 cup blood meal
1 cup of bone meal
1 cup of kelp meal
1 cup of lime
1 small container of great white shark

I use the following nutrients for feeds.

liquid karma
sweet grape
silica blast
beastie bloomz
cha ching

During veg I use the following per gallon and I feed water feed.

10 ml liquid karma
10 ml sweet grape
6 ml silica blast

I also use spray n grow and coco wet once per week to do a foliar feed during veg and up to 14 days into 12/12. I just apply them as listed on the labels.

During flower I use the following per gallon and I do feed water feed.

15 ml liquid karma
15 ml sweet grape
9 ml silica blast
1 small scoop beastie bloomz

I do the above thru week 6, starting with week 7 I replace the beastie bloomz with chaching but keep it at one small scoop per gallon.

I use plain water for the final 10-14 days! I got these in 5 gallon pots. The temperature is 75-78 during lights on and 60-65 during lights out with plenty of air movement. I keep the humidity between 40%-50%.

That should shine some light on how I do things...

Glad to see some ohio love in here.

I noticed a few people discussing ohio candy in here when I read this thread the other day. One of my favorite strains ever - lost the cut in a recent move but i'm sure i'll get it back sooner or later.

Anyways, does anybody know anything about candy's lineage? I've heard a lot of conjecture but nothing real solid other than it's out of cincinnati and possibly has some indiana bubblegum in there somewhere...?

I know this is kinda off topic but there seems to be a lot of ohio and midwest people in here for the death star - making this the most likely thread to find anyone that knows. Always been curious.. candy has the aroma profile that is just so refreshing - at least to me.

I'll post some DS pics in a few weeks.

thanks

I don't know for sure what the Candy is...I've heard some say it's Cotton Candy, others say something about Indiana Candy Corn or something like that....I've always kinda thought it might be a pheno of Dutch Flowers Candy Haze or Mighty Candy Haze. The description online for MCH is almost spot on for the Candy IMO.

She still floats around but is definitely getting tired. I've got some Candy x Pakistani Chitral Kush and Candy x Shiskeberry/Mango Haze beans. Need to pop some soon and find a nice candy dom pheno and maybe do a BX....

Thanks fanatic, that is the best explanation I've heard. I'd rep you but I guess I can't do that or edit posts until I've been here longer.

I wonder if candy haze or mighty candy haze beans are still available,, doesn't look like it.

Hope to see how those crosses come out one day.

Looks great tic - I miss that little girl - but it looks like she's treating you very well!

lee - Good to see another OH-how-high-I-gO grower lurkin around! Seriously, always nice to see people doing good work - and yea I haven't gotten any explanation of what the "Candy" really is - although I wouldn't doubt that it has Cotton Candy in it - it does have a lot of those common characteristics, but I will say, the little bit I have smoked - was definitely some great bud.

Personally I'm trying to seek down that Bubblestar - seems like no one really mentions it much these days - but I still think its a killer cross. Unfortunately the only person I know with a cut of it, won't release it to anyone, so who knows with how much luck I'll have on that. - The perils of having to shut down and get all reset..

Hope all is well for ya lee and tic!

less is more

wise words

I guess it all just depends on what you're working with - In coco it runs a little different - personally kept it a light regimine (almost exactly by Canna's standards for the Bio-Line and H&G Coco Line before that) - but coco does have issues with Mag and especially Chem varieties - I just noticed that it took a little more Nitrogen into the beginning of flower - but after that - like I said before - pretty much a low feeder - especially if you add some high phosphorous bat guano in the flowering mix.

But glad to see the organic soil recipe you're using - If I wasn't so stuck on loving this Bio-Organic line from Canna and just had great results with Coco, I'd try it out, but kinda have things all set up for Coco now - maybe down the road if I ever switch back.
