Coco Airpots

Do you think these will work using them with coco and airpots? I won't elevate the plant in the middle, like shown in the cut-away view of the halo. Or do you think doing it like that would be a good idea?

How long do you think it'll take for the 3/4 gallon rez to run dry? Tanks for input and help, happy toKin'!!

Can you put up pics on this site?

I just went to coco-hydroton 5 gal airpots from all types of hydro set ups. Its been a transition played out on the margins of my grows for a while now. And the yields of the coco-ton hang w everything I have done. Factor simplicity and its a no-brainer for my goals. Hey, no worry on plant count and its gonna be 4x4 RW cubes on a flood table. About 4 per/sq ft. But I am staying 100% legal. Got only 6 under 2k, lights on mover....

Pics of what? I haven't bought them yet lol, can you see the link? Thanks

The link is broke, but I checked out the "tomato halo", which sells for $19 for 3. Little pricey but looks like it might work out. My question is what's your reason for it? Are you just looking for "self watering system"? If that's what you're after, check out blumats, if you haven't already.

If you try the halo let us know. I want to automate and I'm debating between timed drippers, blumats or maybe this one.

Thanks!

I bought a set of the blumats a month ago lol. I only have two hooked up right now, but next run I'd like to shoot for 4 hooked up. I basically want to go all coco, but don't want to be married to my ladies even more lol. Thanks for the input... :thank you:
I may just order the trio of them :dance013:

Awesome! I am a coco convert and have the same goals of not being married to em. I literally could open a hydro store w all the hydro stuff I have stored up, so a timed drip wouldn't cost anything. But...I love buying shit so I might just get me those blumats lol.

Like to hear your feed back in the future!

The blumats are working, just needed to tweek them a little at first... I only want 3 to 4 hooked up to the blumats at a time, but would like to find someting else as well. The tomato halos look like they may work, eventually i'll order some and give you some feedback.
How much of a jump in yield did you see after switching to coco? Do you put hydroton at the bottom of the airpots, then coco?

Well I just fully transitioned from RDWC (and some other experimental hydro systems)to coco and my yields remained more or less constant, except when I got root rot in the rdwc in which case the coco yielded more. So, same yield with no chance of root rot, a lot less BS and no need for the chiller, which is like another 500 watts. I am currently mixing about 1/3 to 1/2 hydroton into the coco. Coming off hydro I have a need to feed lol. Just wish I switched sooner!

One thing tho, I found bricked coco to be problematic so I just spend the little extra and get canna. No need to rinse and waste time. Or worry about salts. Well worth the money come harvest.

Gonna build a dtw drain "table" this wknd and put em on drippers. The table will actually be plywood covered with panda film on casters with a drain fitting. Giving me lots of head room and mobility. I will attach the scrog to the dtw table so it moves together. Makes getting at em much easier.

Nice guyyy! Cant wait to see it! I use either Royal gold or Gold label coco fiber. I bought everyting to make a recirc system when I first started growing, but got scared to use it lol. I have a bag of grow rocks, could I mix the coco fiber with them?

For sure. You can and will need to water (nutes everytime) more often. And once roots are well est. you can water/feed 4 times or even more per day. Any amendment will work, just rinse em. Grow stones however should be soaked in a low ph overnioght. Check the ph of the H2O again to make sure its stabilized down to the 6-6.5 area.

You can use perlite but ome have reported potential salt build up if using too much perlite tho.

Ya know the coco forum has some great advice, if you aren't already checkin it out.

Thanks man! Only regret is I think I bought to big of pots LOL! Seems you can grow much bigger plants than I thought. Suppose I'll have to veg em longer and grow me some trees. I am excited. I want to get 12 zips out of a 5 gal pot. That'd take 10-15 gal pots in soil.

Hey make sure you put the bottoms of the airpots in with the round part up. It lets them drain properly.

Right on! I started to just throw em together but decide to go to their site and get directions. Glad I did! You also need to make sure the top doesnt have holes and on bigger pots the indents are larger to hold the bottoms. Pretty subtle but important!

I only made one Airpot, I had the guys at the growstore do it for me lol. I made sure they were going the correct way though. I use 5g smart pots too, that seems like a lot of coco though.
About the tomato halos: I think these drip constantly. If these things drip constantly, wouldn't that be good? Like a timed drip feeder, but kinda basically dripping all the time...? Thanks for the input!

YES sir dont need big pots with coco you should be able to hit that mark in fives ,only prob with small pots is support, plant get to big and they fall over thats why i run vertical trellis and u need multiple feeds or they dry out quick..:joint: Bud

5 gal is a shit ton of coco! But I like the idea of growin trees. You might want to check if there's run off, if there is check pH and EC. then I'd throw the Q on the coco forum. Those guys should know if you'll have any probs. I'm a coco nube.
