Will I yield at least an OZ with this plan?

Ok, I think I've finally settled.. I will build a plywood box 18x18" and 24" tall.. I will hang a 125w cfl vertically and surround it with maybe 3 female indica's 12/12 from seed. On top of the box I will have a 120mm fan and there will be two 4" passive intake ports on the sides.

I like the idea of a vertical CFL so as to not waste any light.. So does this sound efficient to you or would you change somethin? I should get a solid OZ from this getup, right?

Soil or coco I wonder.

I do a perpetual run in a 12" x 18" x 24" in 16 oz coco hempy cups. GH maxibloom

If I flowered the whole space at once I push 40 grams at harvest. Under 110 watts PLL.

I don't know about vert potential with cfl's.

Here are couple examples:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=228272 : sgapetti [this is good one][my idea is to add DIY reflectors to the horizontal lights instead of vert.][If I went vert, I would have one fixture on the floor, one on the ceiling]

The post just below yours : Pl-l vert, just started, but a good one. [Two 55 PL-ls with remote ballasts might work too!]

Im curious about the bulb setup? I have kicked around the vert idea, its almost ideal for a cfls output.

I like running two fans. One to vent and a smaller one to blow over the girls. If my dimensions aren't going to change, I try to make my fans [cfm] 25% more than the cubic dimensions of the box.

12/12 from seed with an indica? Could be tough , indica dont stretch much so u could end up with 5 gram plants. I have had successful 12/12 from seed grows but they were with plants that had some sativa in it . Try it out and learn from your experiences .

Yea I've seen that mistake before by a friend of mine...ended up with 3 grams from a NL plant, lol. But it wasn't dialed in right and the temps were high

I wonder, would I be better off with 2 65 watters on a Y splitter, or a single 125 watt? Also, is 18" gonna be wide enough? Anyone know how thick a 125w bulb is?

Any more advice is more than welcome, I'm sure I forgot to ask something

So, what is PLL? And 16oz containers? Isn't that a bit small?

PL-L is a style of fluorescent, instead of a bunch of swirls or 5~6 long "u" shapes like CFLs have. They seem to be much more efficient since your getting the full use of the power instead of just one side. Tho if your running a vertical style grow you don't have to worry as much about loosing the light since its going all over anyways. I would love to see a go at your idea tho and see how it works out, I think you could pull an oz or more if maintained properly.

And the 16 oz containers aren't bad if you are limited on space and don't plan to veg the plant much. The plants don't grow as big and this allows you to put a whole bunch in a small area for a mini SOG. I'm planing on starting something very similar actually. Would love to see pics of gloryoskie set up tho.

I too think it's doable, but I'd go with a net/vscrog to be sure. That adds vegtime.
In a rush, I'd grow 4 monocolas with lamp in the middle, cutting side growth, and hope to hit 8g/plant.

You basically just described what I'm calling "the indica chamber" of an armoire I'm setting up right now. Well, minus the 12/12 from seed part, which is a bad idea for indicas, by the way. I prefer hydro though, so I'm using a 1x1 DWC with 4 plant sites. Each plant site fits perfectly around the circumference of the 125w CFL, which I've managed to put inside of a 5" cool tube. I'm using clones, which would be a better, more productive choice for you as well.

Here's what I have going at the moment, while I test things:

Uh, sweet. What are the dimensions of your box? How many watts? And how are you venting and controlling smell? Your plants also look a little sick, though? (all due respect). Details man!

They're freshly rooted clones... That's what they look like right after developing roots and before getting any nutes. But like I said this was a test I was running on the cab temps. These clones came from flowering plants, and they are actually going to revegetate into mothers. :)

The space in this little chamber is 18x20 inches and the air comes in through passive intakes at the floor, then up through the cool tube into another chamber where there is a carbon filter and exhaust fan blowing it all out the back.

But this is in a larger armoire with multiple chambers so it's not exactly the same. In a small cabinet you could use computer fans and one of those "sandwich"filters people use. They seem to work for people.

thats a nice looking setup hush, whats tha hole in the middle? Is it a fan? than you probabbly dont need a cool tube, would help with some more lumens me thinks.

It's too hot without the cool tube. I would need a much stronger exhaust fan without it. Plus, the loss in lumens from the glass is FAR exceeded by the fact that my plants will be able to touch the light now. It's practically impossible for that light to burn my plants now. 125w CFLs are very hot!

No that black circle you are seeing is the access port to get inside the hydroponics unit, for maintenance.

Aye cool tube is needed, i just thought you had a honeywell down there, with it you wouldnt need a cooltube probably.
